| Having spent last few years reading this forum on a daily basis and refusing to sign up, worrying it will be a drain on my time, I have finally succumbed!
The trigger for this was a memory I had of playing Salford and a Salford forward (I think it might've been Ian Gormley) leaping into the main stand at Thrum Hall and remonstrating with someone after he had been sent off. I was stood at the Hanson Lane end that day and I wonder if anyone else remembers it and what the circumstances were. He was wearing headgear and looked pretty determined to do someone some damage! I guess it was mid to late 80s? (Definitely pre- Eric Cantona's copy cat kung foo kick!!)

| That happened right in front of me. I was sat at the front of the main stand. He didn't like the comments or hand gestures that the man in the stand was saying(asked if he had ever played union asked if he was a flanker I think). The man in the stand turned white when he jumped the wall. It still makes me smile when I think of that day.

| It was Ian Gormley, I think he was playing hooker that day. The man in question was sat in the front row of the main stand at Thrum Hall and was a well known character at that time, played at Greetland with my dad a long time prior to the incident.
He still goes to the Halifax games as does his lad nowadays but he's less vociferous at the games, I'm not even sure which part of the ground he frequents, but I have seen him in and around the south stand lounge.
I have many many memories of Thrum Hall & some incidents & characters that used to turn up, but the Steve Ganson attack was a particular funny one for me, we were stood right at the side of that as the goal kick was being lined up.
Another was the 12,000 crowd packed in for the Jonny Blair drop goal fest against Wakey in the challenge cup quarter finals.

I remember both the way the Salford player cleared the barrier was a shock, scared some of our older fans which was not funny at the time the nutcase!
The Wakey game was terrific and what a crowd, rammed. We beat the money bags of their day Wakey what a top do that was i walked home to Ovenden on cloud nine that day.

| I also remember Barrow's Eddie Szymala getting 'lost' on the way from the Pavilion to the pitch, one of the lads who'd been giving him some stick as he came out of the changing rooms filled his pants that day.
Quality moment.
