Anything new learned last night ?

The main thing to come from the night was that we are to play Salford in a friendly.

The night started with Nanyn and Tyrer coming in after training too answer questions, about how they were fitting in and how the new squad is coming together etc. Both seemed very positive about being Fax, saying how tough the pre-season training has been and that having a big squad will keep the players on their toes and hopefully get the best results out of players on the field.

Karl stayed for another hour or so, after the lads had gone, and answered questions on anything and everything, mainly his playing career at Fax. One thing that KH was keen to get across was that he wanted the squad to have a closer link with the fans (E.g: players doing Q&A sessions) so that the fans could have a greater involvement and having more of a ‘community club’ feel, which I’m sure is something most fans will see as being beneficial.

All in all, both Karl and the players, said everything that the fans wanted to hear, ‘Fax prepared to win every game’ etc. However, from what was said, there does seem to be a good spirit amongst the lads (something which has been missing over previous seasons) and the main thing is that Karl seems genuinely glad to be back at the club.

Someone told me recently that Rhino has insited that the players hang around & mingle for an hour or so after the games, something that I understand has been missing over the last couple of years. Not that I hang about & pay the ridiculous prices that the franchiser charges over the bar anyway but it's another positive improvement I'm sure for those who do.

A good night was had and a big thanks to Karl, Mick and Steve for coming along and to Mike Riley for his time also.
Karl is like a breath of fresh air and his honesty and dedication to his job as head coach and to HRLFC smack you in the face when you meet him.
If you listen to him you feel reassured that here is a man that knows how to coach and how to handle RL players, he is also very keen on having a youth policy with more local lads playing for Fax and building stronger links with the local amateur clubs.
Oh and not picking favourites by the sound of it.

Get down to any future meetings with players, Board members and coach even if you are not a Trust member you are welcome we just make a small charge, lets have more there next time although we did have a good turn out.

This is where the club is missing something like Taverners up at Thrum Hall, and Karl probably recognises this from his days up there

I take it from the above that the Trust will be charging fans to come to meet the coach / players nights. Just have a raffle on the night, but if you start charging fans for these nights I don't think it will go down very well, TIMES ARE HARRD

The only other thing then is to limit to Trust members only then. "Times are HARRD for Trust members also".

Yes times are hard for all fans especially Trust members who are all committed to supporting the Club as they did last year by raising £25,000 again , which will help Karl enormously in runing the Under 23s .
I cannot praise fans enough for the support they have given us and the fans who went the extra mile and joined the Trust have been tremendous. Like the Club with their season ticket holders we are always looking at how we can give Trust members a bit of an incentive for being a member and one of the things was to invite along guests to meetings which of course members attend free.
We opened it up to non members as we thought it would be a good way of encouraging fans to be more involved and join the Trust which is only £10 for the year. However we did not make it compulsary to make a member to come along and I for one do not think a small charge for the entrance is too much to ask £2 is cheaper than a pint of beer.
To expect a small group of people to raise £25,000 in a short time again without doing this type of event and charging is just too much to ask and as people have the choice to contribute or not I`m sorry I`ll have to disagree with you on this one.

I think its right that as part of a Trust Membership these events are included, and then a small fee of £2 isn't too much to ask for none members,

If there's 11 or 12 of these meetings a year, and you intend to make them all, then joining the trust would offer a saving, otherwise why become a signed up member?
