Few injuries plus 3rd man in Tonks suspended meant they only had 1 recognised prop playing..

I know its early but wasnt impressed with either team tonight. Both looked to have gone backwards since last year. Leighs line speed doesnt look as quick, and their fowards dont look as good. Fev are obviously struggling with injuries but their attack didnt seem to be as organised as last year.

In regards to the game, Leigh did look impressive. Duffy bossed the ruck area and brought the forwards on superbly. They spread the ball very well and most shockingly, Nanyn looks like he is in some sort of shape


It was always going to be tough for Fev, 17 for Leigh against 14 for Fev for most of the game, Smeaton's ankle roll looked like a bad'un.

Who is through? May have been a bit difficult.

Leigh looked ok tonight but i think most teams in the league would have beaten Fev tonight with their problems so its hard to say.

Well we won but I know Fev where understrength. I thought we dropped too much ball and we played the last quarter with our best 4 props out.

Anyways a game we lost last season. We will get better so will Fev. Difference is we are a lot better than you saw tonight' if you watched it.

After watching the game I thought Leigh looked Ok but Fev were woeful at times. I know they have some injuries but as others have posted they did not really pose a threat with the ball in hand. (I hoped they were well paid for Briggs !!)

The commentary from Sky was as usual very good, at one point they stated the attendance was very low even though the match was on tele and it was freezing. having said that it was still on par with certain S/L teams !!

Finally Tez or Barrie came out with quote of the night - these two teams will be right up there at the end along with Barrow and Widnes - 5 seconds pause - What about Halifax - oh I was just about to say Halifax and Sheffield, Hunslet, York and the others.

Tez never like Fax to get mentioned which is why the other commentater always brings out name up. Barrie doesn't seem to like Tez to be honest and always disagree.

Thought Leigh looked better than last year, not slowed down by Robbie Whatshisname, Fev struggled with numbers but due to lack of fat lads blocking defenders Finn got put under more pressure than normal.
Watched Boots N All and as ever it was Widnes biased but with their management team on the programme what do you expect, we can only let the team do the talking on the pitch.

It never ceases to amaze me at how poor the commentary is on sky!

Leigh look good and are now my favs to win the league. Look very good going forwards and have scored loads in the mickey mouse cup as well. I do think the weakness is in defence and think they may struggle when put under pressure. Top 3 this year at least this year.

Fev were missing a few but looked poor. Poor ball control and looked void of ideas. They will not be in the top 3 this year. They looked lost and had no answers and did not put leigh under any pressure. A tough few games ahead and think more points lost.

Fax have the potential to beat leigh quite essily depending how they turn up. Fev should be a win though mentally Fev will want revenge..

With 6 first choices forrads out, then losing both centres within ten mins and spears for the whole of the 2nd half and williams playing on with a knock - can you advise Daryl Powell how we could have built up any pressure from anywhere on the park???? It's likely that there will be more points lost - but after seeing 80 mins rugby of a severely depleted side v the bookies favs - you can make that conclusion??? Perhaps you're correct! I just think it's way too early to make that point.

Yes a few players missing, but failing to keep hold of the ball to complete the sets of 6 and put a good kick in is not an excuse. The players looked clueless and lacked a leader and direction. It was always going to be tough but when your players cant do the basics of Catching a ball and Tackling then you are going to get beat. The players did not look fired up at all. You do not need to be a Quality Championship player to put some big hits or ruffle Leigh up a bit in the tackle or even catch the ball. Wet and cold conditions. Very few high bombs and testing wingers and Fullback. No small nippy players working of a quick Play the ball etc. I just saw the game that Fev did not look up for it at all and looked Direction and Ideas. Fev were lucky it was not more to be honest

If fevs defence wasn't so good in the first half the score would have been a heck of a lot more.

That makes a change from last season then when Fev had all the luck with injuries. And I am not sure about Leigh being the favs either I think the bookies have it wrong there.

I would have Leigh as favourites for the league then Widnes.Fax will battle it out with Fev.
