Today's Courier, Penky named as captain with Jim Gannon as vice captain.
They have done away with the 5 captains idea of last season, good riddance.
At least it will allow Penky a chance at 'discussing' the ref's decisions as captain and maybe not get himself into as much bother with the officials as in the past.

Just a thought, (Greg Florimo's boots please don't tell me I live in a cave for not knowing this), but,
with the appointment of Penky as captain does that mean he will be used more?
Seems to have been used more as an impact player recently and so has Jim Gannon.
Will it require complex tactics to make sure one of them is on the field at all time?
Just a thought.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Penky once made Captain before and it ruined his game? When he was relieved of his captaincy, didn't his game improve ?
If I have got this wrong, I apologise. But, I'm sure there was a player in recent times that this happened to.

Yes, he was captain in the season before last. However, I disagree that it ruined his game, he was just not chosen as 1 of the 5 captains last year.

50/50 on this, not sure that Penky is captain material, however when the team needs a lift he can come up with the goods.

Happy with both of these, both got experience and penky is an awesome player and agree with above, he comes up with the goods when we need it!

And interestingly Melbourne (Maguires old joint) have extended there 'leadership group' to arround 10-12 players  crazy!
Gannon was our 'club captain' also btw  |

True it did but I think he has 'matured' since then and hopefully he will show his worth this time. He is a very determined player and does lead from the front so should do well. |
