How Penkywicz didn't get MOTM I do not know.

He didnt take a backward step. Has got a great attacking game great offload but can get wrestless in defence.
Matt will improve that in him.

Jones is not all there. Woefull defender and some of his passing today from behind the goals where i stand were appauling.

Some of Penkys passing was appauling as well - but you arent suggesting that we get another hooker? His pass for Barlows try was fantastic. His defence was ok as well - he was being isolated by Haley jumping out of the line in the first half.

Jones and Gannon did throw some passes i bet the they wish they hadnt done, but thats what pre season is for. I think they will go ok for us and im very optimistic about us. Danny boy will be fine and will run the show when he gets to know his teamates better, great signing.
Sam Barlow is immense, i think this will be his last year with us if we dont go up, hes a SL class forward whos beginning to really shine.

So his kick through for White's try wasn't top drawer?

He was strong in attack and workratey in defence. He needs more pace for me though but will definate do well in the super league.

What some people need to remember is that todays game was always going to be a bit disjointed as Fax made a lot of changes. From today there were lots of positives but some players who played today will not be involved week in week out. I think things are progressing nicely and the during the pre-season we have got better week on week. On the original thread Sam did have a powerful game today.

some of jones passes went astray but so did plenty of others. he put out some very good long passes to the wing and had a decent game with his kicking i thought. far from being a weak link i think him n black will take some stopping.

sam barlow seems to get better every game, he offloaded well today, pity was not faster to go half length of pitch after charge down though. also think he will be in SL next season.

No more Jones bashing please, im usually the critical one, but hes taking the pivot role well and once he gets used to his 'new' team mates he will orchestrate some fine Fax performances, with his passes and Gannons off loads well have some good attacking options. He made some cracking flat balls and long passes today.
Sam Barlow a shoo-in for the Championship dream team, even before the seasons started, keep it going Sam, big things ahead for ya.

Danny Jones is going to be a cracking player for us this season.

Just wait until he has partnered up with Ben Black and he has settled in, playing in a reasonably settled team without umpteen trialists.

It seems that some people are expecting him to come in to the team and be an instant worldbeater - let the lad settle back in and get a few games under his belt, then lets see how he is doing.

Getting back on thread though, I have to say that big Sam is looking good so far!!

Obviously you are a RL officianardo haveing seen at least 4-5 games. To lambast a player commited to the FAX cause, other than one who tried and failed to hold the club to ransom over pay is laughable in the extream. I'm sure in the comming months you'll see how much of a work rate, passing skills and speed the Jones boy posesses. For years I have gone to games and just watched only one or two of the players on the pitch. I beg you to try that ( if your attention span can focus so long).See what work rate the said players get through, then you can comment on how bad or good they really are.

For me the thing that has dissapointed me about Jones is his kicking game which so far has been bordering on poor. Its an area that we lack in and im sure MC was looking at that area when he signed Jones. He defnatley is capable of upping his game in that respect. On the eratic passing we knew thats what we would get when we signed him but we have plenty of others guilty of that as well. To compare him to Branighan is a bit unfair because Branno was in a different class and expecting DJ to fill his boots is a bit unfair.

I thought Danny had a good game but what I cannot understand is the bashing of a player before the season has even started . His work rate is second to non and I think he did put a few good kicks in. There is no use trying to compare him with Branigan because that particular player did not want to play for Fax at what we could afford. Danny is a local lad who should be encouraged he will make a good contribution to our team and I for one am glad he`s back.

Sure there were a couple of passes that were not the best today and a bit of ball went to ground, but thats just the Fax way, throw the ball around score some points. it won us a grand final last year.

Danny i thought looked good, twice the player that left the club a few seasons back. his control of a game looks good, his kicking game isnt bad, and he's a homegrown player and one for the future.

him and Blacky will form a good partnership and we will make a top 3 finish without a problem.

Barlow definate our best forward, and will go super league next year from what his dad were saying. He wants to challange himself and hopes it will be with Halifax.
He needs support as he has a destructive offload.
