| Unless they pay him big money i cant see it, at the age he was when he emigrated if he'd have wanted to stay in the UK enough he could have kicked up a fuss and stayed, he can get first team rugby in Australia, so why move back?

Can he? If Melbourne were that sure he'd play 6 etc this year why would they not have at least tried him there a few times in a dead rubber season? Rather than 2 games when their were a few players out?
I wouldn't be surprised to see him spend at least half the year on loan at a SL club.

| He been told he is going to be Melbourne number 1 stand off and some numpty jorno is saying he might switch to SL... That is like saying I am flying home 1st class with Emirates but instead will choose to sit on the wing of a Qantas 380...

| I had a good natter with his dad on the couple of visits they made back to the UK recently and he didn't give me the impression that playing SL was in their immediate plans, although I do appreciate that things like money & playing opportunities can soon alter the mindset.
What I will say though, is that with the weaker pound against Oz dollar his earning capacity would probably be better where he is, and he's recently become a father, so I should imagine they're pretty settled over there.

They have trailed him at 6 in under grades but haven't seen any statements he'll be guaranteed that spot. They had a game at the end of last season when Finch was out... They selected someone else and then recalled Finch when his replacement had problems, wasn't 90% (illness) yet even when can't gain points Widdop didn't get a run out? I hope he does 100% but thought they'd have given him a run their last season!

He was injured at the same time as Finch so they brought in Kelly the NSW Cup 7, But he had played 6 most of the year in the NSW Cup and was the 6 for the NSW State of Origin Residents team, he also got selected as standoff of the year in the NSW Cup, so they have been grooming him for sometime now, knowing that Billy is staying with the club and Finchy was going he was the natural 1st choice replacement for Finchy seeing he had always played in the halves up until playing in the Toyota Cup as fullback.
He has still alot to learn yet down in Oz so I don't think he will be in SL anytime soon.
