Great win again down in Sheffield. Attack top notch but the defence should be better. But again excellent win not just to win, but deny Sheffield the Bonus Point. Quitely confident we can get to the Final. Fev struggled against Sheffield and today against Batley. Barrow we have beaten home and away. We should have too much fire power for Widnes, Sheffield or Leigh. Will be tough but no reason why Fax cant get to the final. Then its just 80 minutes and we can win that too. Come on Fax you can do it.

How did Rudd play?

Went off seeing stars apparently.

Thought Rudd had a solid start, put two massive hits on the Sheff lot. Would like to see him in the squad again soon.

I don't know what was with Fax today though, two seconds slow with their reactions today, catching, tackling, passing the lot. Thought Penky did a good job of sorting us out though, against a strong Sheff side. But we need to switch on and certainly for next week. But well done Fax.

Sheffields pace worried me as Fax seemed to hold off tackling them. Good attack in general. Nash was very Jeykal and Hyde but at least he came good in the end. Holroyd seems to tackle more and Larder (in the 2nd half) seemed to be shouting at the players to get their acts together.

I really had to laugh at this. It's idiots like Lucky, Chris Smith and Greg Florimo who have been sticking the boot in when we had that rough patch at the beginning, and shouting for Calland to be sacked! Not to worry though, I'm sure the status quo will be resumed if we fail to win the GF!

For the record, I have ALWAYS been behind you, Fax, and I ALWAYS will. Well done, a really tough match at Sheff, and we won it. Onwards and upwards eh?

Tony you are =#0000FF******. I say what I feel whether you or others like it or not. My thoughts on Calland remain the same-he cant coach a team to defend and I am not sure we should renew his contract. If we win then good. But I do feel a lot of the attack is down to the skills of individuals rather than planned mastermind tactics from Calland. From the rumours it seems Gene felt the similar.
However the team deserve praise today as Sheffield is always tough and to deny them a bonus point is even better. If the team deserves praise I will give it. If I do not think Fax are playing as they should, then somewhat negative post will be made. Each person has an opinion. If you cant except that persons post that do not read it.

A typical Fax peformance it seems, mor than capable of putting points on the board when we click and want to play but so fragile in defence. We were shaky for the first 15-20 minutes but the triple substitution of Penkywhisky/Penksyskie for Bes Wick Maloney for Ostick and Frank Wattana for Cherrybon changed the game. Not to say the departees had bad games, Ostick and Cherrybon in particular had impressive games.

I would like to see our attacking line stand deeper though, it looks like a jagged defensive line at times and we push the line so far we must pass forward, as we did when Penky made a break in the first half.

I was impressed with Rudd, good yards made and solid in defence. White however is just not good enough anymore, his defence is so naive and weak and offers nothing in attack, where is Haley?

Good win today but on the defence front, if we don't have the right type of players then we'll never be a defensive team. Nash was poor at start but woke up later on but how many times can you lose the ball on the first tackle, that's just not good enough we need to build up pressure, we should have romped home today to be honest. Anyway, 3 more wins and we're in the final.

The bottom line is that we went to a tough away fixture and turned ovber a team that Beat the run-away league leaders last week. And we conceded less points than they did too...

All in all a very good result. Well played lads and well done Matt Calland.

Welcome back Tony, we know who the real fans are, the honest ones, the ones who don't bleat about every little thing that goes wrong.

I always find it odd that when we win, like today, 4 hours after the game the match thread has only 12 posts, but should we dare lose this thread would be on page 3-4 already with 'calland out' 'penky's [ir=#0000FFubbish[/i' 'the players are on the booze' 'random rumours etc'.

That's not me saying that personally to you Lucky Black Cat i can't remember what your (or anyones) posts are specifically, i'm just saying it is clearly noticable and shows that alot of fans feed off a bit of negativity and the theory that we still as a club have some 'devine right to win all games' attitude that is clear amoung certain fans. It's a bit sad to be honest and doesn't help at all.

Alas, posting this after a game we've won has probably bought the mood down

Today's match took me right back to the legend that was Joe Kilroy.

Misi Taulapapa for the Eagles - outstanding. OK, lost the ball a couple of times but he managed to beat at least two players everytime he went on the attack - just like Kilroy used to do. Outstanding.

Hmmmm .... brought in the so called "rumour" re Gene ..... pity Lucky couldn't also weigh in with the other players "views" who are obviously staying put and playing some good stuff in the run up to the play offs. If we play well "it's the skills of individuals", if we play crrap "the coach can't coach". You don't know whether to laugh or cry at brain dead comments like this!! But, as they say .... "if the cap fits ...... "

They are a good team but lack the cutting edge we have, it is a great stadium but why play there with so few fans its a bit empty. We scored some good tries and most importantly when we needed to as well.
Great turn out from Halifax today, must have been over half the crowd were Fax fans around 800 well done.

I thought the same, granted, unfortunately I'm too young to remember Kilroy but I do remember Steve Lay, vastly underrated, safe under the high bomb and always beat the first man a la Wellens.

In terms of people bleating over losses, it made me laugh how easily the vast majority of Fax fans were quick to blame the officials because of our own shortcomings...

Rumour has it that he needs an op on his knee but the club wont pay for it so he is on the NHS waiting list. Strange when Tamgharts was rushed straight through.

Great win yesterday always a tough place to go Sheffield and for me a team that has really under performed this season, full of class individuals but struggled to put it together as a team.Two more wins for second spot and i know we have the talent to go to Fev and beat them.

Spot on - really cannot fathom out why they aren't pushing at the top three. Like you say though - it's OK having a team full of entertainers but the coach somehow has to gel them together as a team. Mark Aston must have been pulling his hair out at all the dropped ball yesterday.

Not very pretty yesterday but a win is a win. Although i have my own reservations about the coach at times we are still winning and im sure that gives us 44 points on the league ladder with two to play and last season we only had 43 at the end of the regular season so we cant really complain. The most important thing is that we all get behind the team and the coaching staff right now and go on and win this Grand Final!

Said went back to France for his op didn't he? Because of the delayed kick-off we got the last 15-20 uninterrupted on Radio Leeds which was quite good but pretty much every score the commentery was elsewhere.

Dont know if he went to France but i believe that "Boots" may well be right about Said getting it done ???? (who paid, if anyone) and James having to wait for the NHS op!
