Any team should be just like the South Wales Scorpions. Starting off in Championship 1 and using mainly local based players with the odd exception. But the RFL will just encourage any bid that has alleged large amounts of money involved

Any marketing done of the potential support base? You know - fans and that - the one's that will give this Super League club some fortnightly revenue or are the RFL going to shut there eyes and hope for the best.

No, no, no, you misunderstand. What you do is throw money at developing a Super League club [iand then[/i hope the fans turn up. And then when that doesn't work you send an expensive 'task force' to waste a year there that will eventually go, "Actually this isn't working. Let's move the club to somwhere where there will be interest."

This formula has proved itself in the past, I see no reason to deviate.

Waste of time and money, just not enough interest over there. Ther are small pockets of fans but they are spread around the country, also too many other sports to choose from.

Let's face it, Leeds will be the only English based team in Super Duper League come 2020.

RFL will make them a shoo in if that the case...

Having seen a few of the games here & the general attitude to Sport in Ireland.
I'd say any potential club will do well.

Needless to say any club would have to start in Championship1 or lower.

The Irish take sport very serious & you only have to see how intertwined the irish pysche is regards GAA.

Look at how Ireland did in the Cricket World Cup.

However there is massive competition for speccies & competitors.

I made a few of my irish chums watch some games and they absolutely loved it but im just not convinced we could compete with GAA. It would need a considerable amount of money throwing at it to work.

If GAA goes professional what do you think the impact will be? Could it work in leagues favour or against?

There's been rumours for a couple of years that an Irish team wants to enter the Championship leagues. I think an Irish team would get more support than a team in South Wales, their Rugby clubs are generally better supported. Rather than quick geographical expansion in SL I think were far more likely to see a fair few new championship clubs. If there's one thing that Celtic Crusaders proved, it's that any two-bit businessman can set up an RL club in a new area and make it to SL in a few short years. Even though they flopped in Superleague, they could inadvertently leave behind a legacy of new semi-pro clubs in the Championship.
