Which RL games or events would you have saved for the grand-children to watch ?


For myself, the one game in particular concerning Halifax RLFC would have been the 1954 challenge cup final replay at Odsal stadium stands out simply because of the prestige surround the large attendance etc.

Another event would have to be when we brought the cup home in 1987, that was a brilliant weekend to top off the build-up surrounding the final, but the streets of Halifax were packed that day, I still have the newspaper photo's somewhere, but didn't think about recording the news programmes at the time, too much celebrating to do !

Loads of other stuff relating to our Jim's career I'd like another look at, particularly a certain cup tie between Wigan and Widnes when a touch judge royally got things wrong on more than one occasion !

Definately 1954 cup final, just to see if that disallowed try was in fact a try that my old mate says was and was even given to by the linesman!

The very first ever pro game of rugby played would be interesting to see.

Both Liverpool-Newcastle 4-3 matches plus the liverpool comeback from 3 down in european cup final.

Halifax RLFC being in the black

The 13 -13 draw in April 1986 against Fev which gave us the league title.....still the biggest achievement in the clubs history for me. Would be interesting to see if the game really did end early as well!

The 1966 Championship Final when a female joined the fight and hit Colin Dixon with her handbag !!!

That Challenge Cup win at Thrum Hall against a good Wakey team when 13K were there, wow.

The great games against Wigan when we drew at Thrum Hall and at Central park in the league and that cup game when we lost - just!

1972 JPS Trophy win cos I was there.

Any Halifax RLFC game from the clubs first few years, they would be amazing, some of those old Cup Finals.

The 1939 Cup Final at Wembley when we beat what was a great Salford side I was told, the 1932 Cup Final against York, cos my Grandad was there!

Any Halifax Town win against the enemy - Burnley.
Leeds United beating Derby after being 3-0 down after about 30 minutes.

The Halifax vs Leeds game at Thrum Hall around 1993, Halifax had 2 men sent off but were still scoring tries against the big spenders with the whole ground including those seated chanting "what a waste of money" for about 5 minutes, Magic.

The Rourkes Drift test match to see if it was as good as they say.

There was some footage on a DVD the club produced a few years ago with all the tries of the 91/92 season.
