| With regard to the Barrow post and them recruiting over 600 new lottery members in a few weeks, mainly due to the input of thier fans, I wondered if there was anybody on our forum who would be willing to attend a meeting with me to discuss the possibility of us doing something similar.
The Barrow supporters should be applauded for thier commitment to thier club. To get so many new members in such a short time is fantastic.
I know there are many Fax fans that are just as commited to our club and if they can do it, so can we.
If anybody is interested, please post on here and if there is enough interest I'll sort out a convenient date for us to meet.
Cheers
Richard

What did they do you have to ask?
Can we learn from them?

| Status report from Barrow lottery promotion.
Over 800 new members so far.
This will generate them over £40,000 per year, or to translate in to rugby terms, 1 or 2 good players.
The response from the first post of this topic would suggest that Barrow supporters are prepared to back their club far more than Fax supporters back their's. ???????.
Sorry if this provokes anybody, I sometimes get a little frustrated.
Cheers
Richard

| guys as a new agent for Richard i collect once a fortnight on the estate where i live and collect from 40 houses this takes about an hour,
richard did all the canvasing so all i had to do was colect , and as an added bonus they is an agents draw which i happened to win last week and had a nice sunday lunch free at the moorlands in Ogden
im sure a few more could afford to spend 2 hours a month doing some thing for the club we love,
give him a call he does the hard work all you have to do is collect

What did Barrow do to get the supporters rallied? Judging by the number of fans who post on here - this place isn't going to generate those sorts of numbers. Did Barrow advertise? Did they rally the local press? They must have done something other than post a message on a forum to get the response they have done. I tried to generate sales where i work but unfortunately, in Stockport they have no affinity to Halifax - they don't see it as a simple lottery game - they see it as fund raising and for them there's no attachment. I think more pictures and stories in the local rag about the winners may tempt local people to join.

| The call came out for Barrow fans to back the lottery and asking for help in recruitment at the game where they beat us.They were in the final and Des took the Mic`and asked for the support of the fans there and then. I know it may seem like hard work on here Richard but there are only a few posters on here. Surely you need to organise another of the nights you had when you put out all the posters and packed the Weavers out. Lets get geared up for a friendly where we advertise, get the players involved etc.

| The only problem with the Lottery Promotion Nights is that whenever the Club hold a get together I get sick of people saying "I hope it's not just another bl**dy Lottery Promotion".
I personally think it's a great thing and so long as people know that it's a night to promote the Lotter, ok you can have (and I think it's an essential part) the Players and Matt there too, but people ned to be told it's a Lotter Promotion and then they can make the choice on whether or not to turn up.
Have a Fun Night at the same time, but it's the Lotter Promotion that needs to be the main purpose and it needs to be made clear from the start.

| Yes I agree, for the numbers who post on here you will pick a few up but not enough. Des did it at a game, not just any old game but one that was important to the club/fans the rallying call was pitched just right. All Barrow fans were told exactly what was needed and how to be part of it.

| this is something I have tried to do in the last few months and I think I have signed about 6 member up for the club....not a massive amount but then again if a 100 of us signed up 6 members then i'm sure you can do the maths.
Littlerich i'm the same i work in Leeds with a load of football fans, however i didn't really go into the bit about Halifax benefiting, i went into the chances of them winning, were fairly high with lots of prize draws etc...although without them having a relationship to the club i have to admit a few are starting to moan they haven't won anything...but you can't win them all. (I think i sold it so well they all assumed they would start winning!)
Richard if we do sign up more people will more prizes also be drawn? Would it be worth bringing in more £50 and £100 prizes rather than the £5 i think that way it would seem more significant to people when they win.
I would be happy to attend although i do think i have badgered most people i know...i do think maybe season ticket holders should be sent a mailshot or something in the courier about a meeting? A lot of the older generation probably don't come on here, i know my dad doesn't

yer I think the £5 is old hat now and a lot of people who win it on my lads round often chuck it in for paying their future Cashfax so no point winning it in some ways.I know it makes more 'winners' on the list but its not much thses days a fiver.
Obviously Barrow having a winning team helped them recruit but they are saying they had the biggest lottery before then so what do they do for theirs?
Would be worth looking at as I am very surprised as I thought we had the best.
Maybe not?

| Sorry for being pessimistic, I was on a bit of a downer this morning.
I must say the lottery at Fax does have great support from many Faxfans who are already agents and members and without their help and support we would be lost, and I really am proud of our lottery which remains exceptionaly strong despite the current ecconomic climate.
To answer a couple of points raised:
Littlerich. Barrow did indeed get the local press involved, something I will try to do in the Courier, but most of the new members were generated by supporters who recruited members from family, friends and workmates or in thier local neighbourhoods. If anyone wants to do this give me a ring, I'll even canvass for you, you may be pleasantly supprised how well we do for you. I'll even pay you to do it.
JFFC and Yob. Good idea about promotion night. I was planning an agents night to thank all our existing agents when the new stand is finished, possibly a race night or casino night (free of charge), and I think I might open it up to potential agents to encourage them to help.
Shauny 2009 and Faxfan. Thanks again, your both doing a great job.
Fax4life. Barrow have done a fantastic job in getting 6,000 members but this does't make them more proffitable than us. They have weekly prizes of £2,000 whereas we only do £675 a week with a monthly £500 and three £5,000 prizes annualy so I think were pretty even in comparison. Also your point about £5 winners is understandable but I can assure you they are valueable to us because it generates 35 extra winners a week. If people go forever without winning they will just pack in altogether.
The point about extra or bigger prizes makes sense but for every additional £1 given in prizemoney you have to recruit 2 new members to generate a profit. If we could get 1,000 new members I'd be happy to give more prizes.
I'll keep you all informed about our agents(potentialagents) night in the new year but until then if anyone wants to contact me with any suggestions or help please ring me at the club or 07960 457652.
cheers
Richard

A Lottery Promotion Night with a Casino Night chucked in and "Be an Agent" Recruitment talk, setting out what the potential earnings could be. People need to kow what's in it for them to trulley get motivated. You'll only get a small number who purely do it for the love of the club.

This sounds like a good idea, let lots of local people come along everyone enjoys making money and a great night out...which hopefully will make some money for the club as well!

Sometimes the Lottery may be better been pushed for what prizes it can offer, rather than how it benefits the club, depending on who its been "sold" to.
Fax fans will be quite happy to sign up knowing it helps sign players and that, but others may be happy to sign up knowing they can win a few quid, without asking where the money goes to.
