Aparently there is a half marathon taking place in Warrington on Sunday 4th October 2009. This will result in increased traffic and parking needs and will also result in some roads being closed. this shouldn't affect anyone travelling to the games. The route is on the south side of the river (down by old Wilderspool). Start and finish approx 1.5 mile from Halliwell Jones. There is also church service being held with a march past afterwards in St Elphins church (near sainsburys -big steeple with scaffold on it) at 10am. this service closed Church Street just off the A57 last year, but was re-opened about 12:30pm. approx .75 mile from HJ

Wonder if that chap with the sandwich board about sinning on a Sunday will be there? Was always outside Wilderspuddle. And will there be a shop selling Uncle Joes mint balls like what there used to be and somebody threatening anyone wearing Fax colours? Just wont be the same now its all new and modern.Oh and now miles away from the Pheonix pub which you could leave at 2.50 and get in to the ground just as they kicked off.

Everytime I went to Wilderspool it was the most horrible weather, fog,rain,freezing... a really grey old place to visit, but what a great atmosphere though.

Cracking humerous atmosphere for around 15 mins or so(?), with something around 50p and meters being quickly assembled as a chant from the Fax faithful.

Come off at junction 9 on the M62 and follow the A49 (main road to Warrington) straight to the ground.

I was there. It ruffled us more than Wire because when play resumed Jonathan Davies weaved some incredible magic to steal the match

Our Yorkshire Rider driver somehow managed to get lost on the way there & ended up in Oldham!
