| I'm guessing that playing home games on a friday night in July is intended to test the water as to when the most profitable time is to play our home games.
Friday's crowd of 2100 was broadly the same as it would have been on a sunday although the travelling support was noticably lower then the NRC game (granted Leigh's tailspin towards CC1 may have something to do with this!)
So with the aim being to improve crowds overall when should we play our home games?
Or does it make no odds either way?

I disagree with this. Had it been a Sunday, i reckon we'd have got 2,800 ish.

| The main thing is they should be consistent and not keep altering the time/date. It has been done before the first couple of seasons we went down the Shay and I know we lost a lot of fans because the wives would know hubby was at the match 3-00 Sun and would work round that. Then they started to mess around with the days and when we had a pub I witnessed many an argument as the blokes would never say till it was the last minute that it was Fri /Sat night . Resulting in the Mrs telling them they could not go as something else was sorted. The thing is we have been building up the crowd steadily on a Sunday afternoon geting it so it became a habit for the kids too. So why alter it why switch to an evening when for instance the kids that have started to come back can`t come and the away support is down too.

| The reason for playing so many home games is so we cant be told by the RFL that we have to play a home playoff game on a sunday when we want to play it on a Friday like what happened against Whitehaven last season.

That's pretty much why i think they've done it to. Aren't we getting into the time of year where Sky will have to start picking the Thurs nights games as they only schedule the first 12 or something? I think this is so even if a home/away fixture is suddenly changed to a Thursday night, we'll still be getting a full weeks recovery, which at this stage of the season may be important.
Can't see us getting much in way of home attendances anyway really from here on out. We've only got Fev, Toulose and Whitehaven at home. So 250/100/20 max from those teams probably.

| well i personally like any time for the games i like sunday games its nice to play and for the most part this season it has been sunny and warm when we have been at home on a sunday.
i dont really mind when we play them i like friday games as well i like night games i dont know why.
i suppose i like night games at the start of the weekend mainly cause i dont have a job and i know i have a full weekend to look forward to after the game instead of 1 evening b4 University on the monday.
i do like sunday and friday games. i couldnt really care less when we play them as long as we win

| Having a young family fri nt suits us better as it leaves the weekend free to do other things, however we are all hooked so even if it was Wed at 3am we would make it.

Unfortunatley with new rules that i think were brought in this season a team can decide not to play on a Friday night if they so wish. Think it was Haven who used this rule to make Sheffield change their fixture against them even though all Sheffield home games take place on a Friday.
Funny though i bet this dosnt work when it comes to Thursday nights and Sky.

| Its a difficult one for the club, however the main thing is consistancy. Like people have already said chopping and changing of fixtures cause confusing and people get out of reguler habits.
For the players I would have thought evening kick off will be much more comfortable to play in, aswell as the sky games are thurs so we get adequote rest time if we are screened. I personally prefer fridays, because it keeps my weekends free, but I will go whatever the time we play.
I do think all teams should play at the same times unless they happen to be the sky game, it is quite difficult to keep track of when others are playing to check results.

| got to be sundays for me especially this time of year when the weather is good. Increased away support as well is a big reason. I originally thought that we switched them because of potential sky games but ive had a look and they have game picked up to the end of the year. The only game we might be on is Sheff away.

The 'traditional' day used to be Saturday, but that is going back to the 50s and 60s, when BBC Grandstand used to show the second half (just the second half live) of one of that day's games with commentary from the inimitable Eddie Waring. Even though only the second half (note Stevo - half, not stanza) was covered, the game got useful publicity. I was in digs in the early 60s with a county standard RU playing guy from the West Country and he thoroughly enjoyed the coverage and found the code to be exciting. The same must have been true with countless other people.
Back to the present - Sundays for me for all Championship games. I used to love getting in my car after a match to drive home and being able to catch up with all the scores and reports from that afternoon's round of games. It was all part and parcel of the gameday experience for me. Let SL spread its fixtures around, but lets be different and and have just one gameday a week.......... Sunday!

| We cant do anything about the SKY days, so we have to play on a Thursday for that, but 71% of the 38 votes so far are going for Sunday (which I did) which surely should tell the club something!!!

| Any day for us as home fans is fine but I would imagine less traveling support would show on a Friday evening. There again if you don't try, you don't find out.

| I work night shift through to Friday morning so the only no-go is Thursday.
If there are any big games on, it means me using a day's holiday or not being paid until I get in after 10 o'clock. It can work out expensive so Thursday is not the preferred option.

| I prefer Friday night as it leaves Sundays to do something with the Mrs as she works Saturday mornings!
Plus in summer its hard going to the rugby when the sun is shining and you could be tripping off somewhere.
BUT
Sundays are better for away fans, Leigh for example would have probably brought a few more say 100 if the game had been on a Sunday.
Sundays do not clash with some peoples shift patterns, I have a mate who was working last Friday on 'lates' and had to miss the game, I am sure there are at least 50 to 100 of those. Add to that people who come from out of town to support Fax and there are a few of them too.
That can mean an extra 200 on the gate x £14 thats a lot of money the club loses, especially at this level.
Sundays means less rush for most people as if you work out of town and a lot do, or late until 6pm say its hard getting home, your tea and then down to the Shay for kick off.
Plus the club do better for Diners on Sundays.
So the facts say Sundays despite my preference for Fridays, you cannot please them all.
I wonder what the players prefer out of interest?

| I don't want to hijack this thread into a discussion of 'Game On.'
However, anyone who read the Chairman's piece for Halifax v Leigh would have read, "your Board wanted to try a series of Friday games in the second half of the season to gauge supporters' liking for it. Next season, we anticipate that it will be easier to sell corporate packages in the new facilities on a Friday, but of course our regular supporters are the 'bread and butter' of the Club, so tell us which day you prefer."
It is true that the Club also wanted to establish our 'home fixture day' as Friday before the play-offs start, so that we can't be overruled when specifying Friday for non-televised play-off matches, which we would do to avoid a Sunday to Thursday turn round, which gives a part time team little recovery opportunity.
Clearly, the regulars on this Board prefer Sunday, but last Sunday how many would have preferred Giants v Cas or (God forbid) Bulls v someone else. And how many prefer the atmosphere under lights

I don't think that our SL neighbours are as big a threat as they used to be so no clash with either of them imo

Nothing like a great game under lights. However it doesn't get dark until about half ten through July so that doesn'y quite work.
The point of the poll was to establish when the fans want to watch their rugby rather than sponsors. The results would appear fairly conclusive.
On a personal level I would prefer friday night if I lived in Fax. Cracking way to end the working week, then a few pints afterwards and a kebab from Get Stuffed - perfect! Unfortunately I have a 130 mile round trip for every home game which puts me in the same boat as most away fans
