O.K. Who's going to France. Has anyone been before, got any tips or information? We are having two nights in Carcassonne and two nights in Toulouse. Will it be sunny? Can you spend Wetherspoon vouchers in the local bars? Do they sell real food in the shops.....?

Yer said it before, we are off in a party of 5 staying in Carcasonne 3 nights then in Toulouse on Saturday.

We're staying Sat/Sun nights in Toulouse and Mon night in Carcasonne.

I hope you're not one of those guys who roll off the plane in Union Jack shorts, carrying a string bag full of baked beans and bottles of ketchup and singing "here we go" (with the aid of a song sheet of course) at the top of your voice.

We are staying in Toulouse from the Saturday until the Tuesday. It will be very sunny and very hot

Likely Unofficial meeting place on the Saturday for the Bar Army - Real Ale offshoot of the Barmy Army - is likely to be the Frog & Rosbif Pub (has it's own Micro Brewery & serves about 6 real ales as well as International Lagers) in the Centre of Toulouse. There is a Metro station about 400 metres away that takes you to the Ground - about 3 stops. I will post full details in the next couple of weeks for those interested. It also serves food - not cooked on the premises, but brought in from nearby Italian & Indian Takeaways!

Given Fax's track record of long away trips, Limoux, Bridgend etc, this was a non starter for me.

Hopefully they will stream it on the internet with the funny French commentary, wonder if they will say "SAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIID"

You'll love it folks. Head for the Melting Pot and they will show any Super League games that are on Sky while you're there.

Enjoyed it so much in April that I set up a savings account for next year - unfortunately I think the account name will be changing from "Toulouse savings" to "London Skolars savings" very shortly

sadly I cant go, passport run out & it's so bloody expensive nowadays to renew!

Sounds good, I love my real ale did not think i would get any in France just european lager beers.

I'm off to Toulouse. Staying there Friday and Saturday.

Carcassonne lovely but youd be better in Toulouse, we stayed in Carcasonne and the train journey is an hour however last train is 8.30 ish

Well I've toyed with the idea of going, was hoping to see a package put together by Fax. Has there been one and I've missed it??
If not where are people flying from, staying and what's the best deal?

im flying east mids to barcelona (girona) and return from carcassonne to east mids on sunday aft, both flights came to a total of £80 each with ryan air. i think its 2-3 hours by car from girona to toulouse.

Four of us are flying from East Midlands to Carcasonne with Ryanair and staying 5 nights in Toulouse for £225 each.

With only beer and food to pay for on top we should escape with under a grand each.

We're flying Jet2 from Leeds/Bfd Sat morning returning Tuesday. Staying at the Comfort Hotel in the Centre opp Airport Bus Stop. Cost is working out about £235 for Room & Flight.

Beer is apparantly rather expensive at about €5 (£4.80'ish) a pint, but if you drink the "local" 25cl measures it works out a lot cheaper!!!

You can take cans etc into the ground for the match and it costs a lot less in the Supermarkets. I recommend a few tinnies in the room each night b4 going out.

The Frog & Rosbif gets good reviews - Real Ale, Lager, Sky Sports & "Take-Away" delivered Indian/Italian food.

Of course it's cheaper, it's less than half a pint! You'll be doing well if you find many pints at €5 though, it's generally nearer to €7 at best - stick to the house wine is my recommendation!

agreed. The performance at narbonne was shocking, but that trip introduced me to my first nudist beach.
