After much debate, lets draw up a conclusion on the bonus point!

you win you get 3 points you lose you get nowt how hard is that

It would be better if there was a bonus point for winning by more than 12 too.

Seems daft that for a draw there is 4 points available (2 each for draw)

If you lose by less than 12 there is 4 points available (3 for winner 1 for loser)


but only 3 points available for winning by more than 12 (3 points for winner)

Almost rewards negative rugby in my eyes.

I'm not a fan, but if we must have it I feel a losing margin of 12 is too large. Also, if a team get beaten by more than say 30 (or similar good winning margin) the bonus point should be given to the winning team. The bonus point system would then favour the winning team slightly instead of just rewarding loss.

You should have included an option "Not Bothered". I'm not really bothered because it's the same for all teams and at the end of the season the best team will win the GF, bonus point or no bonus point.

While I don't agree with rewarding failure, I actually think the bonus point is good.

Is seems as if there have been a lot more close games since it's introduction, and although a loss is still a loss, if teams had just given up like they have in the past, it would have had a far bigger impact on attendances if the loss margines were bigger.

I've actually spoken to people that have said they won't come and watch us because we're winning too easily! Mind you, they were Bradford supporters....

Indeed. Limited points difference hadn't appeared to be much of an incentive to keep plugging away in the past, so it's certainly worked in keeping games alive, though I'm intrigued by the idea of lowering the margin.

Should be back to how it was....... 2 pts for win, 1 pt for draw and nowt if you lose.

Then why don't we copy the inferior game and start awarding points for scoring x amount of tries as well?

If it's going to be kept. Why not 3 points for a win and to keep both teams playing to the final whistle, the bonus point comes out of the winning team if the loseing team get wihtin 6 or 8 points. that would really make for exciting ends to games. All teams could then contest game right to the end.

But as it is here we should try to ensure that any more games we do loose we should at least pick up the bonus point.

But as I said before if it was GOOD then Superleague, Australia and BARLA would be using it now, cant see it happening.

Knowing the Rugby League, they have probably forgottent hat they'd implimented the points system again for this season...didnt thay say it was on trial initially?

I think there should be 2 points for the win regardless and the bonus point should go to either the losing side if they keep within 12 points of the winner or to the winning side if they win by 13 or more.

There's a change from the traditional two for a win for a start.

I don't see the bonus point as rewarding failure - rather it [ipenalises[/i it. What's important is how many extra points you get for winning rather than losing.

Pre 2007 it was two. Now it's two - but it could be three if you get stuffed.

If you don't follow the logic, ask yourself if the league positions would change if the system was 2 win, 1 draw, 0 defeat or 3 win, 2 draw, 1 defeat. No, they wouldn't - everybody would have more points but the positions would be the same. And they'd be the same if it was 22-21-20 or 52-51-50.

Never have been a fan, rewards defensive teams over attacking teams imo.
It could also result in a team winning more games but being second in the league (like us now).

But if we had got the bonus point . We would now be top. It still rewards attacking teams.

and if we had won the sheffield game it would be even better.

No we wouldnt. Barrow are on 26 points we are on 24 points (game in hand). The bonus point would have only put us on 25 points.

What we should have done is won the Sheffield game
