| I think, once the East Stand is opened the Skircoat stand will become redundant, and eventually be demolished.
No chance of a new roof on it, and having the broken seats fixed is a slim chance too.

| I think that it's a perfect side to build a new stand on. You could enter the stand directly from the road side & then the seats would be below you (like at Don Valley).

| Once the East Stand is open it would be better to take the seats out of the Skircoat and return it to a Standing terrace again. It would generate more noise and would look better on TV assuming cameras will be placed on the East Stand side.

I used to get into the speedway free through the tunnel under the road from Well Head fields. I often wonder if it still exists or has been filled in or blocked off. Anyone know?

Don't you know...?
Bouncy castles and face painting stalls, ready for our assault on SL in three years time.
TBH, when the new East stand is completed, we will have a stadium better than a number of those currently in SL. To suggest demolishing the Skircoat is a little silly.
All we need to worry about is getting bums on seats!!

The entrance is still there, assuming you mean the bit that looks like a small railway tunnel at the bottom of the estate. Not been in to see if it's been sealed but I imagine it has given that they built a housing estate down there. Would be like gold dust to the kids if it wasn't

| Can't remember how much it was but I went before Ian Cartwright started.Don't know about doing anything with the Skircoat stand thye need to finish the South stand. At the last home game the water was pouring off both ends of the stand.Work done now will hopefully stop the South stand replacing the East stand as an eyesore

Open terracing perhaps. I dont know.
Its an Old Stand, And no doubt needs a lot of up keep, there are already seats missing ect.
Perhaps, as another poster suggested, it could return to be a terraced stand, and supporters could have the option to stand either in there or behind the sticks. or Enter into the East Stand and sit in there.
Once the East Stand is opened. The Skircoat won't be needed for a while. Neither club wiill draw crowds that warrant use of both the seated stands, East and South Stands will be sufficient for the Rugby, with the north opened for away fans at the Football.

That would be the deciding factor, and I doubt the East alone would have enough seats.
Keep the Skircoat shut unless it's a big game and maintain it to the required safety standards and you'll be reet. Would put a new TV gantry on the roof of the Skircoat though to avoid filming an empty stand and have the East opposite the cameras.

I think there are issues with a gantry on the Skircoat for H&S reasons

I dont think that the stand and the roof will support a gantry, new or old. I think that are the Health and Safety reasons that were mentioned.

Spot on that, I think we need to keep the Skircoat as it is but ENSURE it is kept in 'working order' for when one day we will need it (not being funny to Town but they are unlikely to need it in the forseeable future anyway, maybe in 10 years time a big FA Cup match?).
We need a good capacity as we may get a 'representative game' which may need a 12k plus capacity one day you never know.
Besides to put it back as terracing would need new barriers and that would cost a fair bit.
Hopefully in the longer term the stand will get replaced, we need to ensure that we keep pushing for this as I don't want a 3 sided ground which is what we have now until the East stand is finished.
Look at Widnes they had that end terrace for years and the same argument could have been used by them i.e. we don't need it.
But look how good it looks having all 4 sides completed plus they get the Cup Finals and Grand Finals with the higher capacity.
I see the East Stand being phae 3 of the Shay redevelopment and in 3 to 5 years I hope we see phase 4 = a new Skircoat Stand.
Lets not have the usual Calderdale glass half empty scenario please!!!
AMBITION.
