| Amazing - when we lose the match, topics are usually over 4 pages long but win and we haven't got past first base yet. Nothing to moan about?
I don't agree Widnes being a poor side, it's just that Fax were really up for this one and were outstanding. Muzza is a great leader, QLT is quality and Moore ran their big lads ragged round the ruck. All in all a great team performance - no weak links today. Widnes still had a sniff at 18-10 but our defence was excellent, their 2 tries coming off a Salty spill and Fairbank knock on.
The Championship is a far stronger comp this year with only Rochdale easy pickings. Swinton got another good result, as did Batley, Dewsbury are running decent sides close and Barrow are no push overs. In fact Widnes should be nervous. And poor turn out from their fans - there didn't appear to be more than 50 in the corner of the South Stand and were completely quiet for most of the game.
Feel more confident we can really give a good account of ourselves against Scouse Helens. Up the Fax!

| Well after being away for so long and missing all of the loses I can't comment on recent performances but yesterdays effort was not bad from when I last got to a game.
Discipline seemed a bit better, not too many mistakes and a fair dig in attack and defense.
Perhaps the most prominent aspect of the game for me, I couldn't help but think it was like watching too sides who had planned and hoped for so much more from the season but had come up short and were in no mans land going through a transition period.

There are plenty of good sides in the Championship. Traditional clubs are going to have to get used to being pushed down the pecking order. If Toronto and Toulouse get promoted over the next two or three years, who'll replace them in the Championship ? Huddersfield ? Salford ? Rervers ? Lahndon ? Leeds ?
Life's not going to get easier. We're all going to need to run harder to stand still.

| At this rate the Championship will be full of good old fashioned local derbies and Super League will be a soul-less international comp.
Fingers crossed London will stay up and the next couple of seasons Toronto and Toulouse will get promoted with Hudds and Wakey coming down (Leeds won't happen unfortunately).

| It was a pretty good showing from Fax with some excellent try's. Widnes did look poor but perhaps that was down to our dominance. More of the same please. The Grove, shuddersfield, Pomona Island APA 5.3% Mmm! Up The Fax!

| Just re-watched this and we look a lot better than we have done discipline and handling wise
Larroyer - is he signed up if not then sign him
QLT - keep for next year seems to be starting to return to the form we know
Jonno - Needs a contract
Wont mind craven at 6 if we can tempt him from widnes as muzza is likely to retire and still looks unfit

| And Im sure Murrell signed a contract extension for next year. Not a chance we could afford Craven even at the cut down price he is likely to be available at.

I’ve heard Craven will sign for Leigh next season, we have signed Jnr Sau today, and Mitch Clark for the rest of the season, ready for the play offs.

| I presume junior Sa'u is aware that his contract will be a re-nogotiable one, timing likely to be mid season.

Im sticking to my prediction that it won't all go pop at Leigh again within the next 2 seasons.
Seriously though I can't see sense in Poundshop Koukash wasting his money this year when the league could be easy pickings next year when Toronto go up and London come down.

Derek is spending because I think he wants to go to Wembley as his Company is sponsoring the 1895 Cup.At the beginning of the season he stated he was taking a back seat in the signing of players ,I think he may try to challenge Toronto this season. We also signed Adam Higson yesterday.

So as I mentioned previously, do all these signings fit under your salary sombrero?

Norman as far as I know they do, Derek isn’t stupid, and we have been unloading players, Hock has retired and Gregson signed by Swinton, a couple of other may be shown the door soon. Also I don’t think we were paying big money at the start of the season, some as little as 10 grand a season,I was told.Larroyer left us for a much bigger contract with Fax.

| Spending for an end of season run is a good use of resources provided you are around the top five. If you get the players before the transfer window closes you could assemble a squad that could cause an upset and get promoted, or at the very least earn a good lump of prize money.

As I said it’s the A and B Sundecks 1895 Cup and Derek wants to win it, hence our new signings, maybe more in the coming weeks to challenge Toronto.

That does surprise me, as I thought Larroyer was full time at Leigh and he's part time at Fax.
It's all well and good having a sugar daddy like Derek to support Leigh, and I think you'll give Toronto more than a fright as they're not "that" much better - Fev gave them a real tough game last week. But being so relient on one person is like building on foundations of sand. We suffered badly when Tony Gartland left, and Leigh themselves had a taste last year. Likewise Hudds is a disaster waiting to happen once Davy is gone.

Fuzzy, I agree with you about your statement about having one bloke in charge, much better a Board for me , but that’s the way it is,before Derek years ago we had a guy called Keith Bell, he was a disaster for us.
As for my Larroyer statement?I meant he was offered a reduced contract at Leigh to stay , but chose to move to Fax for a better one.
