Then why don't we copy the inferior game and start awarding points for scoring x amount of tries as well?

If it's going to be kept. Why not 3 points for a win and to keep both teams playing to the final whistle, the bonus point comes out of the winning team if the loseing team get wihtin 6 or 8 points. that would really make for exciting ends to games. All teams could then contest game right to the end.

But as it is here we should try to ensure that any more games we do loose we should at least pick up the bonus point.

But as I said before if it was GOOD then Superleague, Australia and BARLA would be using it now, cant see it happening.

Knowing the Rugby League, they have probably forgottent hat they'd implimented the points system again for this season...didnt thay say it was on trial initially?

I think there should be 2 points for the win regardless and the bonus point should go to either the losing side if they keep within 12 points of the winner or to the winning side if they win by 13 or more.

There's a change from the traditional two for a win for a start.

I don't see the bonus point as rewarding failure - rather it [ipenalises[/i it. What's important is how many extra points you get for winning rather than losing.

Pre 2007 it was two. Now it's two - but it could be three if you get stuffed.

If you don't follow the logic, ask yourself if the league positions would change if the system was 2 win, 1 draw, 0 defeat or 3 win, 2 draw, 1 defeat. No, they wouldn't - everybody would have more points but the positions would be the same. And they'd be the same if it was 22-21-20 or 52-51-50.

Never have been a fan, rewards defensive teams over attacking teams imo.
It could also result in a team winning more games but being second in the league (like us now).

But if we had got the bonus point . We would now be top. It still rewards attacking teams.

No we wouldnt. Barrow are on 26 points we are on 24 points (game in hand). The bonus point would have only put us on 25 points.

What we should have done is won the Sheffield game

then we would be top.

Good in essence ( you do notice teams who are 20+ behind kicking on in last 10-15!).

But it should be reduced to 8points imo!

The table is very mis-leading also due to the bye's teams have.

Im sure in Oz, when a team has a vye, they are given 1 or 2 points in order to keep the table looking as it should be with team "playing" similar amount of games. Think this would have been a good idea to have implemented here.

By end of year it'll shape up though! Was going to agree with point but then still looks odd unless you all just take bye as 3 points!

(Why not have a bye week in SL when Catz came in rather than relegate 2 sides??? Oh well another debate!!)

bonus points are bad.
fax stopped playing there natural game and went for goals to stop barrow getting a bonus point.
normaly run those and from the three could have scored at least one try in end.
although we were glad had kicked the goals by the last few mins it did seem to put fax off their normal game.

Barrow did a good job on us today . The thing that stopped us playing our fluent game ,was the missed tackles in front of our posts, made by the same two or three players which led to all there tries.

true was bad or lack of tackling. but we would not normaly go for goal. teams trying to stop others getting bonus stops attacking play.

Please tell me what was wrong with the old system. Just look at the old rule table, absolutely no need for a bonus point at all. The RFL have made a typically stupid rule. It just rewards losing, no more then that. It offers nothing for a team that wins. Halifax have won more games then barrow and have a game in hand yet are level on points. Stupid!

dont like the bonus point at all i could probably appreciate it more if we needed it more but puts teams in the worng part of the table.

earlier in the season widnes qualified from northern rail group just cause they had more bonus points they lost more games than the team they went through instead of.

should have kept it how it is.
