Hey I am not saying all mate, just some.
I know RL is full of people who want everything for nothing and it is imo worse than football for that.
the point I am making is the club need to make sure that only thos who justify a freebie get it, and even then they should not expect it.
If we all want our club to do well we should all help by paying to get in at least!

Your club by the looks of it, both these individuals leaving without any real explanation is worrying.

Being totally honest. While I was on the board, I had a season ticket for 1 season and not the 2nd. I never got to watch a whole match due to helping out in one area or another of The Shay, and often travelled down from Hartlepool on a match day and I thought the amount of money I was spending on Sponsorship and the amount of time I invested in helping the club, more than compensated for the lack of a Season Ticket for games I was only watching for 20/30 mins.

I NEVER got and was NEVER offered a free meal on Match Days and the only Freebie I can think of was the RFL Away Day paid for by the RFL.

What DID disgust me was when expensive 3/4 length coats were being given out to some people by the shop, which I declined to take.

I know of free tickets given away to people. but they tend to be players tickets which they are entitled to and if they have no use for them, they are passed on to others who they usually know anyway.

Then there's Neil who organises the coaches who is given a free ticket to Raffle on the Coach and who (I BELIEVE) gets a ticket too, but who can possibly deny for the the amount of money he regularly raises and which (I BELIEVE) is an agreement dating back to The Taverners days. My apologies if this is wrong, but if it's correct, I certainly wouldn't have an issue with it.

Graham Clay was the best thing to happen to this club in a long long time IMO and Howard, as we all know, is a very well respected businessman. It's a shame they've gone.

So basically 2 people have left on the same weekend, key men, no news is coming out, and we have some unclear cryptic message about 'not as doom and gloom' as we might think...(hinting an element of gloom and doom by inference)
Do any of you pro 'everything fax' croud, with tenious and loose links to people at the club or within office roles and have some personal aversion to speaking frankly or smelling the coffee have any idea how this kind of thing looks to outsiders?

Who the heck is in charge? and if they are away, who is deputy, this is shoddy, and unfortunately, its become the norm for us.

It's not the City though is it? It's a semi-pro organisation at best. Some people forget who we are and what type of people run the club. That said, i would expect an explanation before the end of the week but i'm not going to throw my teddy out of the cot if it's next week.

Hasn't Clay already explained his departure? Thought the Courier said it was because he has his own business and he could no longer find time to do both jobs. I think it also said he was still involved on "special projects" such as finding new sponsors and working on the super league application, but just won't be involved in the day to day running of the club. Don't know about Posner though.

Seriously though , this thread reminds me on the so called Leigh ' Implosion ' of 2006

I resigned because of personal reasons [ basically if I had remained on the board it would have bancrupted me , 4 days later Tony Benson was removed from his position [ not unusual for this to happen in sports management and then Mike Callaghan resigned [ partly at protest for the coaches removal , but in all honesty it probably was time for him to move on as he had been unhappy for a while

At the end of the day these things happen , the club carried on and eventually things settle down and our fortunes [ much of it down to luck IMO have now improved

Being involved with a sports club at this level is incredibly difficult and frustrating , you are always on the edge finance wise , and sometimes it can become too much and you find yourself spending far too much time dealing with club isssues , if you have your own mortgage paying business to look after , then that must take precedence as it is that at the end of the day that allowed you to get involved with the first place

Better to take time out and be available to help again than to get to the point where you walk away from both the club and the sport , I have seen many good people get so involved that in the end they have walked away , never to return , and that is a big loss , that is hard to replace

You will be fine of that I have no doubt , still wont win owt ont pitch this year [ the mighty leythers will clean up

All I've posted is what I expect to hear, what we've all heard before and a ridiculous comment which someone made to me.

As to your final comment/emoticon, I'm English and tend to ignore American teentalk as I prefer to leave it in "Cluless" etc. where it belongs.

The statement from Steele and lack of from Posner, plus Clays non commital words hardly paints the rosiest of pictures down there. Michael 'I do most of the work' Steele hopefully can back it up now.
Personally i am concerned and wont be surprised by anything that does or doesn't happen.

running a Sports Club whether it be Pro or amateur requires a lot of effort and time. Individuals come and go.Some people need to have a rest or lessen the work they do or else they will burn out. The aims of a club remain the same in most cases despite the various changes. Most clubs in Rugby League rely heavily on volunteers-and Fax are no exception!
As I understand it Mr Clay will still be involved-but just not to the same extent. Maybe he will invest more time and energy later. So there is no real dramas on that score.
Mr Posner will have his reasons. Does he or anybody else really need to explain what they do and why? These people have invested time, effort and money in to our club. Again the club will still be here next season and the aims are still much the same. So why the big drama?
