What happened with a certain Leigh born player , after the game had ended ?

So, last night it was an attack from behind. Now we've seen the footage, it does look late and high, but clearly from the front and where the charge of using the shoulder comes from I'm not sure. Sam obviously caught something in the face/head that knocked him out, but it certainly didn't look like a shoulder.

Dane will no doubt be found guilty and serve a ban, and maybe a lengthy one, but I think more for the "afters" than the initial collision with Sam.

As an RL fan, I'm really happy that Sam seems to be Ok.

On reflecting overall, I think his coach deserves the ban more than Dane, and with instructions to play a proper game of rugby league would maybe have turned Leigh over last night. They started off on fire and we couldn't contain them, but a more sensible approach (and maybe Jono on from the start and Murrell fit to play) would have been more fruitful.

Might not of been from behind but I think the intent was there though. Either way,it was bad!

The supporter in question clearly hadn't seen the incident at all (was he even at the game?) as there is no way in a million years it could be said that the challenge was "from behind".

As to intent etc., that's up to the RFL to decide.

It was me who stated that. I was there and at the time I initially thought it was. Having had the chance to see it numerous times since on video, it clearly wasn't so apologies for that. It wasn't a case of misleading anyone it was a genuine error.

I can post what I like as long as keep to the aup. If what I post I later realise is a mistake I as are others am perfectly entitled to correct it. It's easy to be wise after the event. I stand by what I said at the time it was said. Now I know what I thought at the time was incorrect I have said so.

Yes, it's really easy ("View your posts" would be a start), but the point is that you provoked a situation by stating that it was from behind. The facts prove otherwise. That's what's happens on the pitch sometimes - someone provokes a situation and others react.

Dane comes over maybe as a bit of a "hot head" (others would say passionate), but that applies to a lot of sportsmen where physical contact is the name of the game. I don't know him personally, so I can only say what I see - and that's that he's totally committed to the Fax club and team.

None of us (in the stands) know what he was thinking or what provocation before, or during, the game had gone on.

Thanks for the advice, post now edited. I apologise it was never my intention to mislead or provoke anything, I said what I believed to be true. Anyway I hope we can all move on. None of us can change what happened, it's in the hands of the rfl disciplinary panel who have already outlined the charges. Let's hope also that what your coach said after the game about meeting in the grand final happens because it would be another cracking game for both sets of fans, let's just hope for a little less controversy though

Clearly not, but read what you've just written, and apply that to RL players on the pitch in the middle of what's always an attritional and physically confrontational sport.

I have decided to start a new thread as Sam seems to be mentioned on at least 3 other threads.
To me Sam was superb in the first half, at least three or four important offloades two of which resulted in trys.
Threw a silly punch in the tackle early on and was quite rightly penalised.
Booed in the first half when substituted, and more importantly in my opinion, disgracefully, as he was helped off the pitch.
Why do Fax fans dislike him, he opted to play for us instead of that useless waste of space club in South Yorkshire and accepted all the vitriol from them, did't we christen him Slamin Sam.

I was hoping to draw a line under the incident and perhaps move on and talk about the game.
Instead we get a medical update from Dick Jones, fractured skull and bleeding.

No doubt it was a late and high shot from Manning, but as a stand alone incident I'd expect his punishment to depend on whether the red card was issued for the initial challenge or for the scrapping. What he will find himself in hot water about is starting another scrap a full 40 seconds after the initial incident when the ref had split everything up and seemingly calmed it down.

Matt, I agree, "the afters" (in my opinion) were worthy of a red card and Dane (I hope) is reflecting that it was pretty stupid. I'm sure there must have been some verbals involved, but "sticks and stones" etc...

I would like to say that, walking out of the ground, regardless of the animosity on the pitch, from my perspective (wearing a blue 'n' white shirt) the atmosphere between the fans was calm and just reflective of a tough sporting tussle.

Quite right and a game Fax should have won.

They have a great squad but are bad tactically' had they thrown the ball out a bit more the game would have been theirs.
