Good news if true. No one really considered that he may want to stay at Fax and would probably earn more money working and playing part time with us. Now he can get back to doing what he does best, ripping the division apart from hooker.

Aizuie and Gene will help Penky produce his best ever season in 2010 imo.

Penky's an excellent player who you wouldn't want playing against you!

Have to say I would have patted Penky on the back and would have wished him all the best if he'd have chosen Salford over us. You couldn't have blamed him as it is 2 years before we get into SL and that's two more years of top money he'd have earned.
Still, if he's prepared to hang around a couple of years then that's all the better for us. On his day there is no one in this division better than him. An absolute gamebreaker whose potential has been spotted by SL. Salford won't be the only ones who come knocking I am sure.
Whatever he does this winter he has 90% of the fan's support just so long as he doesn't consider another Championship team.
No one here would want to see him playing against us & that says more than any of the posts, pro or anti Penky!

Whether Penky stays or goes there is no denying that he is a hooker of quality and skill, and like every player has off games. Sadly, he was played out of position far too often in my opinion. But, when he was at 9 he came alive and the go forward of the team went up a gear. Having watched the play-off game against Fev it is hard to understand some of the criticism levied at him; he tackled like a demon, distributed the ball well, ran well out of dummy-half and hardly put a foot wrong. We definitely lost our shape when he was off the field. I'd love him to stay and play at hooker, but would wish him well if he moved on.

Yet again I find myself saying "Am I right? I'm not wrong!". Always said Penky wouldn't sacrifice Halifax for a dump like Salford. He's a quality player, excellent if the story is true and he's staying

What was in the Courier only seemed to me to be what has already been on here and the Salford forum. Opinion and/or rumour. No official statement from Penky, Fax or the Reds. Nor any comment from Penky either.

Until something official is announced I'll continue to keep an open mind on this one.

=blueFax officials have been equally reticent, but with Bob Beswick and Mark Gleeson providing cover at hooker and the RFL's standard Championship contract containing a get-out dependent on compensation being agreed between the clubs, retaining the player against his will would have been problematic.

Dont know if its just me but this Piece from the courier suggests that all is not closed on this matter, almost to the point that the club may not be too bothered if he goes

I didn't deserve Halifax. Only the cream of the crop get to stay there. I'm such a buffoon that the authorities sent me to Stockport, Cheshire. Right now I'm an asbo away from being moved to Widnes. They let me back into Halifax 12 times a year so i cram those visits in during the RL season. Those who remain in Halifax are the chosen few - the lucky ones. The ones who live in the greatest Town on Earth, residing in God's own great County - Yorkshire. The Holy Grail, The Ark and the Shroud are all buried there.

I think the club would be gutted to lose Penky, it's just the Worrier putting their spin on things. At the end of the day the standard RFL contract for players in our division does have a 'Super League' get out clause in it, and if Penky wants out then he can, providing the clubs can agree compensation. Nothing to be gained from putting too high a price on him if he does want to go, as they will end up with no compensation payment AND a p!ssed off player on the books to boot.

It might just be that Penky WANTS to play for Halifax, and those are the the sort of players we want at the club
