Yes, our owner has been splashing the cash - on experienced players. He and the coach have identified a need for experience, to aid us in the Qualifiers, should we be good/lucky enough to get there.

As a result of improving the squad, we are there to be shot at by all and sundry, and I would see 'Fax being one of the main obstacles for us to have to overcome. If your guys can maintain the standards you set, in the second half of the season, you will be a formidable team.

Personally, I will be taking no games for granted, especially the ones against 'Fax.

Someone early in this forum said they bet we wish we had a money man like him, well perhaps, but, we once had a money man, he got us the League and then the cup and a losing final in three seasons, think turned sour, he (perhaps understandingly) walked away and the rest is history.
In my humble opinion we have got a good mix, directors putting money in, excellent sponsors and the best coach in the league (by a country mile

) with a well balanced, close squad with no egos and no one With silly wages than the others.

Another realistic post from a genuine Faxer, no fancy statements just a true Fax fans opinion,fans like Halifaxjohn are the reason I love to mix with away fans,a great atmosphere some good banter and realistic views.I'm not sure who your money man was John?But hopefully things will continue to work out at Leigh, whatever I say as you know 80% is tongue in cheek, and I always expect a tough battle at the Shay, next season will be no different.

For the poster who said about things ending like last year... Maybe they could but I really honestly think we will go up! As I said earlier whoever does go up will have to match the super league for spending to attract the standard of players to match sl teams in the 8's. I think Derek has given us the chance with the spending and if we don't make its them players that will have to answer the questions not Derek! Leigh rl has been on the brink of going boom before and may well be in the future. The town of Leigh is rugby mad it's in your blood as it is in Halifax, Leigh miners and siddal are examples of that! I can assure you there will always be a Leigh centurions even if we have to come from the brink again! Let's let Derek worry about he's money and let's enjoy the ride cause I know one thing I'm most looking forward to the shay this year and a big ding dong of a match

It was announced tonight ,that another signing will be announced to the Fans on Thursday Night,I can't wait ,this is going to be one stormer of a Team,we trust in Derek Beaumont.

Got to Laugh at Leigh and how desperate they have become. Good on them and any club on signing quality players from wherever. Sheffield, Bradford, Leigh etc have all brought in quality this year. But I feel Willy Tonga is a poor signing. He has done nothing since leaving the Cowboys. He had a couple of years back at Parramatta where he was frankly rubbish and often injured. In the end even Parra got rid of him. Ended up at Catalans where in attack OK but his defending was awful and they were happy to get rid. 32 and not had a decent season for over 5 years and injury prone. Sorry but theres better out there. Leigh have money to spend and good on them. But some of the signings are very much high risk that could easily backfire on them. Paul Rowley will have his nhands full next season and I would not be surprised if he didnt last the season out. A lot of egos at Leigh. I hope it doesnt end up in financial ruin for them.

Actually that article is quite a good read. It's open and honest - quite refreshing actually, considering who wrote it.

I was actually over in Leigh yesterday for work and managed to snap a quick photo of some of the new Leigh players in training.

Age is nothing but a number.

DB's not going to be pleased with you. He hadn't intending releasing images of our new away kit until the New Year!

Interesting again to see the Halifax fans perspective on signings such as Leigh's.

I think there is becoming an air of cockiness which was quickly thrown right back into the face of the majority of Leigh fans coming directly from this board.

In reality Halifax only just made the middle 8's last time round after a good run and some interesting results from other teams, almost like results affected Leigh in the 8's so I think an outlook of truthful perspective may be required from Halifax and not to get too ahead of yourselves.

On a different note, Willie Tonga only turned 32 in August so he is hardly over the hill, Paterson is 28, Chase is 29, Hansen just turned 30, Maitua turned 33 in June & Weston who has played NRL for 8 years is only 28 also.

Richard Moore for Halifax is 34 but yet had an amazing 2015? was he a poor signing? was he only after a pay cheque you may say? but aren't they all? Scott Murrell is 30,is he too old? Grix is 30, had a serious injury & retired, now he signs for Halifax & is having a testimonial (let me think) no players pay for free no matter how loyal fans think players are.

I am not a supporter of either Halifax or Leigh, but enjoy your teams and lets have a great competitive Championship.

I am not jealous of Leigh or anybody and the more quality in the Championship the better. But for a club like Leigh, that have Cash to throw around, I personally find Willy Tonga a poor signing based on his poor form of the past few years. I follow the NRL alot and Tonga was awful the last few years for Parramatta Eels. And cant say it was a shock when he was released. He ended up at Catalans last year and again failed to impress. Plus he has had a number of serious injuries which probably has played its part in why he has been so poor. For me I think Leigh could have signed way better than Tonga. Age doesnt really matter- look at Jamie Peacock. Grix is not on much money so if he doesnt play no big deal. Tonga I expect will not be on peanuts. The pressure is very much on Leigh again.

Chase is an unusual signing as Leigh have 2 of the best halfbacks there already and Chase does have history of being unstable. You cant build a side around him. Again I dont think Chase will be a good signing for them.The others are pretty decent solid signings to be honest, though Weston was very much a fringe player at NRL level rather than being anything like a star. With the squad Leigh have they should walk this League just like last year.... Fax- well we have not splashed out money and if we dont meet our targets then its not such a big deal compared to other clubs like Leigh, Bradford, Sheffield, London who very much need a top 4 finish. Fax got lucky in some ways last year but they also worked hard and played smart for the wins. The pressure is on now to repeat that as everybody has strengthened.
