How co you know they haven't.....?? Can't see them saying anything without being able back it up...??

In regards to the cap I think its easy to see why anyone with any sense thinks Leigh are close to or will break the cap, Mark Aston practically said the same thing the other week. They obviously think they have found a way around it because it does not take a rocket scientist to pick out players in their squad and know they take up a massive amount of money. Take Liam Kaye and the money that was banded about that his agent was asking for him, do we really believe that the lad dropped say 10-20K from what he was asking? What about Sam Barlow? Theres probably a couple of players right there that are taking up a good portion of 100K.

As for other points mentioned, Im not really sure why peoples minds might be at ease after the meeting. One thing that struck for me was how the board seem at a loss how to get more people through the gates. For us to have any chance to make the middle 8 let alone compete there has to be more people paying on the gate, last time I looked we are struggling in that respect.

I also get the dispute and feel that they are correct in doing what they are doing but I also feel in the mean time they probably should have paid something close to the amount they think is correct until it were sorted. Given the arrears is so high I think its fair to assume this did not happen. Maybe the money was put to one side but again I seriously doubt this.

I do think our team is very capable of finishing in the top 2 this season and that is a must but the next 3 games will shape our season and we could kick on from there.

Wasn't at the meeting so didn't hear what was said but from what was reported I think things can be taken in two ways.

One can be the board resigned to us not being able to compete and looking for excuses, the other the board saying they aren't prepared to break the bank competing in something they can't compete in and killing off the club - we're in safe hands if you will.

As for the rent? Something is occurring but who knows what it is? More info needed

It was also mentioned there will be a Championship magic weekend, no date or venue stated.

What is the point the RFL only hear what they want to hear, the evidence is based on large squads Karl said Fev have 35 players on their books that is a huge squad and must be above their salary cap when you look at the quality in there as well???
Are clubs not allowed to comment on other clubs now do we not live in a democratic country?

Can't say fairer than that. And I don't think Mr Steele came out with a direct accusation. There may be some slight misquote/misinterpretation.

Personally I have no problem with Fev or Leigh spending money to try get their team to the highest level-as long as they do so within agreed rules.
From memory I think Probiz guy was with us for one season on the money front but left? I wonder why that was? If he has now gone to Fev and is bank rolling them then so be it. Looks like Leigh have found a benefactor also by the look of their squad?
Clearly we do not have the same funding ,from what was said last night, and with crowds of 1500 we aren't going to be able to compete with the above two.
Whilst coach and chairman were fairly downbeat about us getting into SL at this time, I would rather have at least the option than the closed shop we had previously. Franchise system nearly killed the game and as happens with 'normal ' sports we can now get back to P&R-and chase that top tier goal-no matter how long it takes!!!!
We've waited 10 years so we can wait a little while longer if we have to!
Sport has a funny way of biting the 'have's' on the bum-just when you least expect it.

Rich , you WONT miss out on the Circus m I will see to that , after all you have a bigger Clown than me in GFB , he seems obsessed by what is happening at Leigh and the Salary Cap , everybody can see the Green in his eyes .We at Leigh have a very good BOM who are totally committed to steering the Club to success , both on and off the field , our off field Fundraising is tremendous at the moment , our Sponsership has never been as big , don't let the Small minded stirrers on the Forum affect your opinions or judgement , ive heard GFBs middle name is Rumplestiltskin

Out of interest if the RFL gave you written confirmation then how do the two checks part way through the season work? We heard on Monday that there would be a check part way through the season where any teams in breach would be asked what they are doing to sort out the problem and then another check near the end where it would be decided if any team has a case to answer for the following season. Who is correct?

I did chuckle at the no tweaking bit though.

It's not specific to Leigh or Fev but there is an interim return to the end of May submitted by each club and I imagine that any discrepancies in this would lead to further enquiries by the RFL.
I expect that every club will monitor its position in real time though and take the necessary actions to remedy any variances from budget.

It was explained that when the interim check was made, clubs that were in danger of spending over the 40% of turnover (was that the figure?) would then be asked how they would either increase turnover, or decrease spending prior to the final report been sent.

Was also good to have the Sam Barlow situation explained properly and hopefully now put to bed.

Well I have no idea but' if it is Leigh v Batley any lapsed Leyther will be astonished and sorry they missed the game.
