The table is very mis-leading also due to the bye's teams have.

Im sure in Oz, when a team has a vye, they are given 1 or 2 points in order to keep the table looking as it should be with team "playing" similar amount of games. Think this would have been a good idea to have implemented here.

By end of year it'll shape up though! Was going to agree with point but then still looks odd unless you all just take bye as 3 points!

after todays game...
bonus points are bad.
fax stopped playing there natural game and went for goals to stop barrow getting a bonus point.
normaly run those and from the three could have scored at least one try in end.
although we were glad had kicked the goals by the last few mins it did seem to put fax off their normal game.

Barrow did a good job on us today . The thing that stopped us playing our fluent game ,was the missed tackles in front of our posts, made by the same two or three players which led to all there tries.

true was bad or lack of tackling. but we would not normaly go for goal. teams trying to stop others getting bonus stops attacking play.

Please tell me what was wrong with the old system. Just look at the old rule table, absolutely no need for a bonus point at all. The RFL have made a typically stupid rule. It just rewards losing, no more then that. It offers nothing for a team that wins. Halifax have won more games then barrow and have a game in hand yet are level on points. Stupid!

dont like the bonus point at all i could probably appreciate it more if we needed it more but puts teams in the worng part of the table.

earlier in the season widnes qualified from northern rail group just cause they had more bonus points they lost more games than the team they went through instead of.

That's a garbage statement, if Halifax hadn't been successful with any of those late penalties they could well have lost the game and had to settle for the bonus themselves. Sometimes you have to just shut a game down, it's about winning close games, not performance.

agree that got to close games down. my thoughts were that the going for goal also stopped the fluency of the fax attack when going for goal three times one after another. i would have backed them to score from one of them.

Our completion rates aren't what they could be and running a penalty can cost us by conceding if losing possession. At least you get the ball back if you kick well enough. How about the pressure getting to the Barra lad who handled Pats's penalty in goal, talk about pressure.

Not forgetting the penalties that gave them that field position in the first place.

Yes but the ref probably missed a lot for both teams and the game flowed as a result.

I simply dont agree with the bonus point if you lose you should get nothing. If its not good enough for Super League it shouldnt be good enough for us

Nothing wrong with the old system But I don't think there's anything wrong with this one either. It rewards teams for keeping going to the end (though the bonus point should be only when you get within, say, 6 points). It doesn't reward losing; it rewards consistency. It's here to stay so get used to it.

But only for the lower leagues.

It cant be any good, or it would be now used in Superleague, NRL, and BARLA.

Well thats cos it,ll cost our team maybe for this season but I still stayed listening till the final whistle yesterday cos I knew it mattered.

As I mentioned on a previous, similar debate, sooner or later a team will win 12 - 0 and the losing team will get a bonus point. How stupid will that look, getting a bonus point for being nilled?

When two teams have played the same number of games (12) and one is above the other despite having lost two more and won two less, the failure of the bonus point system is completely and utterly demonstrated.
