Would be sorry to see Penky go and thought he would have stayed to end his career here, but we have had his best years he is a bit more erratic than normal this season so provided we get a good and younger replacement I am okay with this.

If he is off hes off, but if he does go he has given excellent service to the club. He has looked a bit out of sorts lately and that is probably because he himself found it a hard decision what to do. You do get the feeling of the Fax club getting stronger all the time at the moment so it is a slightly surprising decision. We will just have to hope the replacement is as good and stays as long! If the replacement is better its a bonus.

Just hope all this talk of signings etc doesnt distract players minds tonight.

Just concerning replacements, I would like us to revert back to rotating the hookers, it just gives us that 'plan B' that we seem to have lacked at times this season. Ideally copying the partnership of Gleeson/Beswick and Penky we had a few years back - one player who will control the game and our play (possibly Handforth?) and one player who will tear up the oppositions defence.

Anyway, that's the last I'll say of it till the seasons over!

Yeah I wont hold anything against penky if he leaves at the end of the season, he has been very loyal over the years. If I put myself in his shoes I would sign for my hometown club aswell, why travel a couple of hours each day too and from training when you could go 10 mins down the road?

If he does go then he goes with my best wishes as he has been far and away our best player of the last 5 years and argubly the best player in the Championship during that time.

Have a think of the games Penky has won us nearly single handedly. Or the times when he has either come onto the field as Sub or injected himself into the game with a spark of genius. He'll be a MASSIVE loss, I just hope he leaves Fax having lifted the Championship trophy aloft.

If he goes to Leigh he'll reunite with Beswick, and along with Brierley and Ridyard it's a VERY frightening prospect.

That would fit in with Rhino's comment on Tuesday night that there were a couple of players still holding out from signing.

Penky will have been the first player offered a deal. If he were staying he would have signed it weeks or even months ago. He is leaving, I think we need to accept it and talk about a replacement.

Not many players could replace him, that's the problem. Andy Ellis would be someone who could but he has got his chance in super league, I cant think of many players as good as penky that would want to come and play for fax.

Probably not but why lie about it, he said himself yesterday that he hadn't signed for anybody yet. we have this every year!

One of my mates has text me to say it's confirmed in the courier today that penky is joining Leigh. Can't see a link on the website yet.

I'd like to say that i started this particular *rumour* but those Lobbybobbler's get into us every year about Penky signing for them....

They'll want to delay the announcement for as long as possible so as not to disrupt the business end of the season.

I hate mid to end of season player announcements like this - it's unsettling. Look at Huddersfield - riding high at the beginning of SL and then the coach and captain announce new deals with other clubs and destroy Hudderfields season in one weekend. They've bombed almost every weekend since.

Agreed. If Penky really has signed for Leigh, then there shouldn't be any announcement until our season is over (one way or another). We could be playing Leigh soon...

Talked to a bloke this morning who has a fruit and veg stall in Leigh, he says he knows a butcher in Halifax who knows a bloke in Featherstone who has a newsagents. The newsagent in Fev says his mate at Batley says he knows a bloke in Keithley, the bloke in Keithley says Penky is staying at Fax, but could go to either Leigh or Fev
but not Keighley, unless he decides to go there.

Yep what a daft time for the player announcements.
All our attention should be on getting as far in the play offs as possible.
I'm sure that this contributed to the poor display against the Eagles last year at Bramall Lane when we got paggered in the play offs.
