All talk at present .But just ask yourself, why would R M go to Widnes, another Championship club, who by all things read are in a worse pickle than Fax?

The big question though is has Marshall taken us as far as he can? How much of the team spirit in the camp is on him? Obviously the defence is a great testament to his coaching on the flip side our attack also shows the downside of his coaching. His recruitment can only be described as average at best with still a lot of players that Harrison signed and a lot of the younger ones the work of Martin Gonzalez. I do think he has done a good job but Im not sure he is the person that will take us to the next level. If rumours are to be believed 3 senior players have highlighted failings in the team with suggestions of improvements all to be ignored when it comes to signing players.

What I find worrying is that Marshall will listen to people like Vinny Anderson, who probably has no idea about championship rugby, but not to his senior players or other people around the club.

RM is a good coach, his achievements over the last few years say that. To become a very good coach there are aspects of the job that he needs to improve on and I'm sure he knows what they are. I just hope that he realises where we can improve to take us to the next level. We aren't going to get a better man than him at this time so let's all get together and aim for SL as one. Up The Fax!

I think that RM is a great coach, his record since he came to Fax shows that. He has got much more out of the players than people expected. Some of that also goes down to the players and the support staff. The culture of a place is important and when you put the right parts in to a culture you reap the rewards.

I also think that he may need a Rugby Director to target new signings and occasionally to stop a 'sentimental signing'. A coach and a rugby director working together will (and has proved) be very effective.

Coach says what type of player and RD goes out and gets them. Coach needs to outline the style he wants and the personality he wants. I would say that most of the time they would work together and agree on the targets they are after. But a wise council at the side of RM would bring rewards in my opinion.

At a club like Fax, player personalities are just as important as their skills. We've seen what can be achieved by a motivated and 'in it together' dressing room. We can also see how it works the other way.

Tight budgets mean that we have to make the right signings, as and when they are available.

I started this thread thinking peeps might suggest their ideas of players we would like to see/be able to afford. It now seems to have turned into a slanging match against the club re lack of announced signings and against our coach`s ability to spot talent. Imho RM is in the top five coaches in this country.

Re RM`s choice of signing being poor and bear in mind our budget compared with some clubs, may i run the following names of players signed in RM era through:

Sharpe, Barber, Saltonstall,Grady,Grix, Fairbank,Moore,Woodburn-Hall,Maher (loan),Fleming, QLT. I may have missed a few but all these players have performed well and i think most would get in any squad in the Championship.

I am sure i may have missed some others who improved our squad, suggestions?

We all know we need another half back , any ideas? Let`s be sensible now and not name Widdop, though he would be my choice.

Balance those who have performed with the likes of Bennion, Mammone, Bouregba, Mikey Wood, Tyler Dickinson - I could go on.

With regard to half backs - Danny Yates, Corey Aston, Brambani, all could do a better job than the incumbent no 7. Big opportunity missed last year when Atkin wanted to come from Swinton

Danny Yates looked a standout when we played Rochdale to secure top 4. He has already signed for Batley. Heard rumours we could be signing Danny Craven but unlikely as he is under contract. Losing Tangata to Widnes is a big loss in my opinion. Ben Heaton can still do a solid job in the Championship. Hope the new signings are going to compensate for the loss of two proven championship players.
