i guess that those saying they aren't really bothered to see him go forget the games he managed to win for us with sheer individual skill - Featherstone away springs to mind when he killed them off late in the game. Lets not forget he was playing at half back nearly all season where we all agree he isn't best. in play off against fev he was at hooker, and i thought back to his best and very controlled. still believe we would have won final had he not gone off injured. i don't think Beswick offers that same impact and he also has a tendency to make unforced errors.

Was it 2 years ago Penky was voted player of the season in our division? Having played a good deal of last season out of position, and having acquired a recognised Stand off i think this could be massive season for Sean and to suggest we won't miss him or don't need him is nonsense. Correct, Best matchwinning hooker at club and in division.

I will be sad to see penky going if this is true as i believe he is the best hooker at the club. Would love him to stay and move forwards with fax. Cant stop him going to super league but have a serious think Penky before leaving the fax we are on the up are Salford?

Penky is a great player but he is a little inconsistant at times for me. I think if he was more consistant and did not try to score or create off every move he would be a Top SL player. I wish he was going to a top SL club as do not feel his talents will be best used at Salford as they are not a team who play flowing rugby. IF you do go Penky all the best though hope you stay with us.

Yes I take into account he is a match winner, when he wants to be. But throughout last season his sloppy passes and half hearted attempts neally lost us games. He was a very lazy player. Good luck to him though in Super League.

From an outsiders point of view, Penky is a very dangerous player - probably one of, if not, the most dangerous player in the division. Last season he was devestating, but this year, not as effective. There's no doubting his talent, but IMO his major downfall is his decision making. Time and time again he throws stupid passes or not pass when he should do. So all in all he can be a bit hit and miss but certainly would be a massive blow to Fax if he left.

Regarding possible replacements, I wouldn't put too much faith in Beswick. Up until 2008 there was always a few Widnes fans (myself included) who thought Beswick should be given an opportunity to shine at no 9 (reportedly his favoured position) instead of Mark Smith. When Smithy had a arm injury that kept him out for about 8 weeks, Beswick got his chance, but didn't really stand out. There's no doubting his defensive qualities and does show the odd glimpse of class, but when you are expecting him to push on and take a game by the scruff of the neck, for some reason, he just doesn't do it. Just too many quiet games where he doesn't do much, for him to be considered as top class for this division.

We will just have to use Gleeson there then.

To be fair to Beswick a couple of his best performances came for us when he was being interchanged at 9. Playing in a team with a lot more quality probably takes the pressure off and he can do what he does best.

I think we will be a more organised team next year without Penky, (if he goes) i dont think he really fits in to a game plan very well and he must have been a coaches nightmare at times last year when he lost the ball early in the tackle count on many many occasions trying to do the impossible. However if someone can take him by the scruff of the neck and coach that out of him they will have a cracking player and in my opinion he will do well in Super League, the only doubt i would have at that level is his size ?

I really cant understand why people are criticising Penky. The lad played almost the entire season out of position plus for half the previous season he played with an injury. Penky has given good service to the Fax cause and should be commended on it. If he leaves then good luck to him, its pointless and unfair to bring a player down on the basis of a bad season. He cant be that bad if Super league want him and also for the board to offer him a 2 year deal bang in the middle of that difficult spell he had.

Come on boys and girls...play fair and give him some respect!

Yes but quite a few people have said, not good last year but great the year before. Well yes maybe but as we have said that is because Penky was playing out of position.

i will be gutted if he leaves, different people have different qualities and we have a lot of good qualities in many of our squad members but i would say he is probably our teams best match winner. Especially when it can look like a game is over and we have lost

I wouldnt like to see us lose Penky either.

Imagine what damage he will do playing with a pack of forwards that Matt has built up this year.

Most top teams now have a hooker on the bench & rotate during the games. Remember how devestating he & Gleese were at the start of the season when we were doing this... & imagine the same now behind Azuie,Said,Frank & Stanley!!!

Can't we wait before he goes before we have these kinda messages. People seem to be trying to justify how he was a burden, inconsistant an how we might do better without him etc, what if he stays? Is he suddenly the best hooker in the league again who's an asset to the team...

Think people should hang fire with some comments even if they are just opnions and not trying to be disrespectful or whatever.

great shame if he goes.wasnt great last term because he played out of position , looked so much better when he rotated with gleason at the end of the season- big miss in my opinion.

i would prefer him to stay and have a great season behind a big pack.

I hope he stays my 7 year ols thinks she is a bad omen when I told her he may leave. Gibbo was her favourite (she cried when he left but Gibbo was great and signed a training shirt and gave her a Wales coat).

She then turned her love to Holroyd and he left. So this year she said Penky was going to be her favourite as she was sure he would not leave. She has now said she is not having a favourite.
