| I would imagine its a mix of both speculation and insider knowledge. I wouldn't be surprised if Leigh and Fev aren't exactly been quiet about it. Whatever the punishment next year, they would be taking a points deduction as a full time team in a part time league. Chances are they will be able to absorb the 2-4 or even 6 point deduction and still be in the top 4.

| I thought that salary cap monitoring was now done in real time rather than at the end of the season or is that just for SL?

| No mention of Bradford Bulls being rubbish ? LOL
Seriously, thanks for the feedback from attendee's. I didn't even consider attending for various reasons so i for one appreciate these comments, so long as they're correct ! As i understood things, we're paying supposed to be paying more than the other ground sharers.
Anyone who doubts the integrity of our b.o.d. need to give their heads a shake & re-think because Mr. Steele, Mr Abbott & their colleagues have fronted up to their supporters/sponsors/rate-payers twice recently. Credit to them.

Caught a few nibbles in shaymen.
They're whipping themselves into a right frenzy. It's great they've opened the debate about rent, but, boy, some of them are obsessed

| Well done the board for being honest about things. As usual, the lies and misinformation coming from the lowlife luddites is just that. The luddites are a waste of good skin and bone and should concentrate on their own club, instead of thinking everything bad about the biggest sporting club in Halifax. Regarding the rent, even with the Shop, its wrong that Fax pay well over 1000 pounds more, especially when we pay half the games and dont ruin the pitch as much (Look at the state of the penalty box area for wear and tear at various pitches) as the Pubteam. The Councils lack of money and doint things propelry regarding the pitch has cost both clubs alot of money. The Council has a responsibilty to make the pitch playable and not see the clubs cancelling many games due to the lack of proper drainage at the Shay. The Club for me are right in withholding rent payment until things change.
The new system is a joke and I cant see it benefiting Fax much as what Mr Steele says seems to confirm that for me. If Mr Wood and the RFL are unhappy ,then good! Them clowns have ruined our game and need telling that face to face.
I am glad we are not busting a gut, like Leigh and Fev to finish in the top 2. I think it could be more of a curse than a reward finishing in the top 2 in some ways. If any club is foolish enough to break the salary cap then thats their problem not ours.

Our owner has just stated we should be able to get another top drawer signing in under the cap if needed later in the season
Also just finished doing a feasibility study to move back into Hilton Park to enhance our iconic credentials, but in the meantime can we borrow them buckets for May just in case
Now get them Soccer Economic Equality Evangelists to stump up the going rate and you should be ok

| Well as I couldn't attend last night fully appreciate people's overviews. My mind is at ease and our BOD have certainly put to bed for me any fears I had about being skint. Just wish they could've said something a bit sooner but fully understand the need to be cautious.....

| All just reads to me like the directors and coach are getting their excuses in early. If anyone has reason to believe that a club is breaching the cap or planning on doing so they should speak to the appropriate authority, not make potentially defamatory comments in the public realm.

| Here's what a member of Leigh Centurions BOM had to say about the matter-
"we have fully complied with the rules and the bad news for the others if we still have room in the cap to further strengthen our sqaud if that proves necessary although we are very pleased with what we have and believe we will collectively achieve our goals. As I mentioned on centurion TV when interviewed by Dave parky we didn't assemble our team purely by outbidding people. We sold them our facility our vision for ours and their futures and this was further enhanced by the presentation to them by our coach. It is a misconception that rugby players aren't smart enough to make the right decisions for their future rather than shortsighted financial gains. It is good that people are talking about us and concerned about what we are spending. The crowd against Batley was very encouraging and if we can continue to build on that then we can further increase our spend. Leigh Centurions are building in every area and are proud to be the envy all those who point the fingers"
Wind those green eyed necks in

| In regards to the cap I think its easy to see why anyone with any sense thinks Leigh are close to or will break the cap, Mark Aston practically said the same thing the other week. They obviously think they have found a way around it because it does not take a rocket scientist to pick out players in their squad and know they take up a massive amount of money. Take Liam Kaye and the money that was banded about that his agent was asking for him, do we really believe that the lad dropped say 10-20K from what he was asking? What about Sam Barlow? Theres probably a couple of players right there that are taking up a good portion of 100K.
As for other points mentioned, Im not really sure why peoples minds might be at ease after the meeting. One thing that struck for me was how the board seem at a loss how to get more people through the gates. For us to have any chance to make the middle 8 let alone compete there has to be more people paying on the gate, last time I looked we are struggling in that respect.
I also get the dispute and feel that they are correct in doing what they are doing but I also feel in the mean time they probably should have paid something close to the amount they think is correct until it were sorted. Given the arrears is so high I think its fair to assume this did not happen. Maybe the money was put to one side but again I seriously doubt this.
I do think our team is very capable of finishing in the top 2 this season and that is a must but the next 3 games will shape our season and we could kick on from there.

| Wasn't at the meeting so didn't hear what was said but from what was reported I think things can be taken in two ways.
One can be the board resigned to us not being able to compete and looking for excuses, the other the board saying they aren't prepared to break the bank competing in something they can't compete in and killing off the club - we're in safe hands if you will.
As for the rent? Something is occurring but who knows what it is? More info needed

What is the point the RFL only hear what they want to hear, the evidence is based on large squads Karl said Fev have 35 players on their books that is a huge squad and must be above their salary cap when you look at the quality in there as well???
Are clubs not allowed to comment on other clubs now do we not live in a democratic country?

As far as fev are concerned, we have applied for to the RFL and received an extension to the salary cap to be able to spend 400k (something which you are allowed to do ) providing we supplied them with a sound business plan to show the additional expenditure was affordable and you are turning over £1 million
If we can prove and we have that we can afford the extra 100k then no rules are broken
This is freely admitted by Craig poskitt on our radio show a few weeks back feel free to have a listen

| Personally I have no problem with Fev or Leigh spending money to try get their team to the highest level-as long as they do so within agreed rules.
From memory I think Probiz guy was with us for one season on the money front but left? I wonder why that was? If he has now gone to Fev and is bank rolling them then so be it. Looks like Leigh have found a benefactor also by the look of their squad?
Clearly we do not have the same funding ,from what was said last night, and with crowds of 1500 we aren't going to be able to compete with the above two.
Whilst coach and chairman were fairly downbeat about us getting into SL at this time, I would rather have at least the option than the closed shop we had previously. Franchise system nearly killed the game and as happens with 'normal ' sports we can now get back to P&R-and chase that top tier goal-no matter how long it takes!!!!
We've waited 10 years so we can wait a little while longer if we have to!
Sport has a funny way of biting the 'have's' on the bum-just when you least expect it.
Let's see who walks the walk over the coming season.
No coincidence over the years Fax have had their best times when they have been overlooked in favour of those with more money!

| Quote ="Greg Florimos Boots"Cliffs:-
The rent dispute was discussed and basically revolves around us paying a lot less that what HT do and this has been going on for a while now after the council broke a promise that was made to both clubs. An offer was put forward to the council today.
The new structure was discussed along with the ins and outs of the money relating to the deal and how it will be split. KH commented that although there is essentially promotion and relegation again he does not think any team has a chance of getting in to SL from our division unless they have a wealthy benefactor a sentiment echoed by Michael Steele.
Again it was stressed how important it is to finish in the top two to get the extra funding for 2015. On that note we were told that both Fev and Leigh will break the salary cap this season although any punishment will not happen until 2015 if that did turn out to be the case.
Liam Finn signed a contract with Fax in August 2013, a document that the club still have. The ins and outs of how he got out of it were not discussed.
KH was waiting to hear back from a players agent on bringing a player in on loan. The player played in SL at the weekend but also mentioned Worrincy is recovering quicker than expected.
KH said that he does not dislike overseas players but MS said there were a lot of stipulations in getting them to the club that made it a pain in the butt.
Nigel Wood was distictly unhappy about MS comments to the papers about the new structure.'"
Out of interest, Was the statement that Leigh will break the salary cap made by a Halifax official?
