| I can't take anyone's opinion seriously when they say this is the lowest point in the club's 140 year history. That is just an idiotic and overdramatic statement which devalues anything else they write on the subject.

| This is a difficult one . I don't like the idea of dual reg when it is used by one team to get their players match fit or solely to give them some game time . But I do think there could be a place for it . How many times last season did Fax have second rows playing in the centres ? Casey , Robinson , Manning all had run outs there . There's only so many players we have in our squad ; if we get injuries , suspensions etc and we have the chance to bring in a recognised , natural centre if Hull KR have one available then I think it benefits both teams . I know there are concerns ; what happens if both teams end up playing one another in the second stage of the comp and there are other things I worry about . However lets see how it goes before condemning it .

X 2. This basically how I have been thinking and posting.
Lets see what happens, if it turns out we are doing any of.
" the idea of dual reg when it is used by one team to get their players match fit or solely to give them some game time"
or things like this then the club surely knows the vast majority of Fax supporters will not stand for it.

| Cant say I am happy about it and for me the Club is panicing a bit and thinking short term- much like the rest of the game! It Comes across to me that the Club has lost a lot of Money under the era of Karl Harrison as Coach and is looking to make savings on and off the field with the partnership. To be honest, I am not bothered about finishing in the top 4 as we are not ready to Play at that Level on or off the field. As Long as we give 100% Play decent Rugby and are competitive that for me is realistic. I dont see the Need to link with HKR to get DR Players as for us the top 4 is unrealistic in my opinion.
I am not sure why Jason Netherton Needs to come to Halifax " to increase Levels of participation in the area". For me, Hull KR know that the Halifax area with Clubs like Siddal and King Cross etc, produce Quality Youngsters and are using Fax and this partnership as a way to get them to sign for them and have a stronger academý they have had. I thought we had Luke Ambler and Frank Watene doing this, who for me both do a great Job. Why does Netherton Need to stick his nose in? A Joint scouting Network is defo more in HKRs intersts more than ours for me.
The board have to make tough decisions and some are unpopular like this one. We the fans may feel the Club has sold out, but maybe the board feel they cant Keep putting in as they have done and are looking at alternatives. For me I have no idea where the game is going and what the System and the game will be like in 5 years. I cant see how a Club like us can plan and go Forward with the way things are in the game. I get the Feeling the Club are fearing getting left behind but I cant see Fev or Leigh getting anywhere in the next 5 years neither despite this alleged better System.
The Club has shot itself in the foot so much in the past 12 months from Harrisons awful rugby to "Tony Abbott buying the Shay Fiasco". The Club looked like it had finally listened to the fans with the Richard Marshall and the excellent Shirts. But this decision is once again is one that goes against what the fans want and could see again more drift away slowly. The excellent work by fans raising Money for the u20s for me Comes again as a decision that will upset People ith the end of the U20s. Our Youngsters will just be HKR rejects and sent to Gateshead.
Maybe the board could explain in more Detail exactly why it felt it needed to go don this road because to me it Comes across as the Club have given up and cutting costs. DO we really Need to have this Partnership as for me HKR will get far more out of it than us

| Part quote. "Maybe the board could explain in more Detail exactly why it felt it needed to go down this road."
That's exactly what they should do, you can't have the club saying they want to get closer to the fans and then make this announcement which is high on the controversial list without speaking to the fan base about how it will be implemented.
Lets see if there is more information to come from the club about this sooner rather than later.

Your anti HKR stance comes through loud and clear. Netherton is not sticking his nose in as his involvement will be on the basis agreed by the clubs. Your coach, I would suspect, has more knowledge about what he can bring to the table than you do.
You speak about "we the fans" but surely you don't think that people who frequent these pages are necessarily representative of fans as a whole.
You say that your club "finally listened to the fans" in the appointment of Richard Marshall and the excellent shirts. These decisions would be made because the BoD felt they were the right ones. The fans, whether the vocal minority or in fact the majority, thinking the same thing would happily be coincidental. If you do genuinely believe that the new coach was appointed because you and the rest of the fans wanted him why do you not then go along with his decision to enter the Partnership. Would he have accepted the post if he was not happy with the arrangement? If so he is not the sort of coach I would want at my club. Apparently Richard Marshall and Chris Chester, who incidentally is a Halifax supporter, sat down and thrashed out the details that they were both happy with. They know each other having played at Halifax together and so would I suspect each be able to speak their mind.
Why do you feel Leigh and Fev will not get anywhere in the next five years. Last year's performances by Leigh especially would suggest otherwise. Still only time will tell. It seems to me that saying it may have made you feel better and have been provoked by a touch of jealousy. After all you were talking about two clubs that performed better than you last season and do seem to be progressing as evidenced by their results whereas Halifax, by your own admission, are in somewhat of a decline.
Other parts of your post are also about your feelings and as fans we all have strong feelings about our club but often they are not based on actual evidence but only on our perceptions. I do agree that your BoD should give more details and then some of your fears may be allayed.
I cannot remember at the moment which Pemiership manager it was that said "The manager that listens to the fans will soon be out of a job" but I am sure the same applies to Rugby League coaches.

| Huddersfied have had a link up with Batley for the last few seasons but not really served its purpose for us, the younger lads/fringe players didnt really get much game time, mainly because Batley had a decent team and didnt really need them
we have now scrapped batley and linked up with oldham in the champ 1 so should serve its purpose better for us
all depends on how strong your squad is and how much your coach wants to play the hull kr players instead of his own which could effect morale etc.. batley got more out of it than us with being able to use our facilities physios etc

Decline? Selling out? Lowest point in a 140 history? Shooting itself in the foot? A couple of fans from other clubs hoping we get through our darkest hour?.........WTF!
I haven't felt so positive before a season in years.

I am not HKR at all. The Halifax area has one of the best Amateur Clubs producing quantity and Quality in good numbers. Why does somebody like Netherton Need to come in? What do the Amateur Clubs feel about this and Fax have Ambler and Watene already doing Schools work etc. Netherton will be scouting the Halifax Amateur Clubs for HKR to sign thats all.

When Harrison was released, members of the board mentioned a factor had been the unhappiness of fans and that they had listened to that and gone for a Young up and coming Coach rather than an old experienced one. This partnetship goes further than Dual regs and Coaches agreeing things

Well for a start the 4 from SL will have far more Money as will Bradford. Leigh did very well last year but ist unlikely that they will move out the Championship unless one of the SL Clubs and/or Bradford make a real mess of things. This System is just spin made to make Championship Clubs feel they have a Chance of getting promoted. The reality is the rich get richer and the Championship Clubs fall further behind.

I am not saying you should be grateful or happy with the partnership.
You know only what the club puts out plus any tit-bit of information that leaks out. That is the same information that is available to anyone else about your club whether they are a supporter or not. The fact that the board listen to supporters does not mean that they would implement a decision unless it coincides with what they wanted to do anyway. If you think otherwise you are naive. In that Halifax is no different to any other club.
I do know how fans on here feel otherwise there would be no point on them posting would there? The whole point of the Forum is for people to tell others how they feel. I am as equally entitled to post my BS on here as you are. It is a forum about Halifax the club open to members of the R L Fans Forum not a Forum for Halifax supporters. Some on here are anti, some are undecided but prepared to wait and see how things develop whist others seem to be putting a positive slant on things. They are definitely not all in your camp
Again as far as Netherton is concerned I do not have the answer you want. As I understand, his involvement was agreed between the two coaches. I suggest you email your coach.

| TLBC, I went to both forums and DR was mentioned at both. Indeed at the first Neil Arbor voiced a very strong opinion against it which some in the room agreed with and others were not so anti. Indeed when it came up at the second meeting Neil made a point of saying he had had a bit of a rethink. So it was mentioned. As regards the U20's my understanding is we couldn't afford to keep it going Marshall mentioned something about keeping some of the talent together as a training squad? Not sure how that will work. I have no link with the Board etc but just wanted to clarify.

Losing to Cawoods, almost getting relegated AGAIN in 2004, Going cap in hand to RL fans with a bucket appeal; there's far far far worse things have happened than yesterday's announcement. Personally I don't like it. Personally I think it will fizzle out with a whimper after having little or no effect on our overall performance in the next couple of years. For Nat to say that this is the LOWEST point in our 140 year history is THE most ridiculous statement I've ever read. Either he's being a pantomime drama queen or he has no idea of our history whatsoever.
I have no problem at all with people's distaste for this and if people choose to stay away because of it then that's their business. It's their money, it's their choice but when people are making daft statements like the one Nat made then I believe it does a great injustice to those working hard behind the scenes - for nothing, giving up their free time. To say that all this, and what these people are trying to do is the lowest point in our entire history is a complete insult - in my opinion.

| If as some are requesting, your board do attempt to explain this decision better, they tell it as it is, rather than the garbage our CEO at that time came out with

| I think some Halifax fans are slightly over estimating their own players/under estimating the Hull KR squad to suggest that there aren't many players that would get into the Halifax team from the roster of full time Super League professionals that Hull KR have.
Obviously not accounting for injuries, every week there will likely be a few pretty good players that don't make the HKR 1st team squad that Chester will offer out to 'fax and Gateshead and despite the chuntering of some Halifax fans I'm very sure that they will be snapped up by your club as and when you need them. If your coach doesn't want them, they'll probably go Gateshead instead I guess. There seems to be a lot of doom and gloom about Dual Reg but it's not the end of your club is it? You won't be known as "Halifax Kingston Rovers" your wont have Red Robin as your theme tune and you won't have Rufus the Robin as your mascot!
For the average fan on the terrace, won't the only noticeable difference be that you sometimes loan players from us?

| Quote ="littlerich"Losing to Cawoods, almost getting relegated AGAIN in 2004, Going cap in hand to RL fans with a bucket appeal; there's far far far worse things have happened than yesterday's announcement.
To say that all this, and what these people are trying to do is the lowest point in our entire history is a complete insult - in my opinion.'"
Yet again a good post Rich especially the part about it ending in a whimper, although I hope it happens in 12 months not 24! But....I stay with Nat. I was there against Cawoods, against York and I've seen the buckets, but nowt is worse than this. Sportsman, shudds. Mallinsons Bravo 4.1 % Mmm!

It's not at all,
Just go back over the posts on this forum to see where he is coming from.
Lowest point of our 140 year history.
Crowds below 1000 before the end of the season.
I'm never going again prefer to walk in the dales.
Whatever the rights and wrongs its a decision which our board and management consider the best way forward and as I have said before if that's what they think then we owe it to them to accept and support it.
I think early on on this topic someone suggested that this decision may have been forced on us by results last season and this was quickly shot down, however think about it, not finishing 2nd, prize money, dwindling gates due to poor play and even worse result, gate money = less revenue than required.
Every one is entitled to there opinion of course but please give it a year.
Walking away is no answer, crowds below 1000 my ar-e, entertaining rugby, winning and even losing with style will bring the crowds back. Most supporters who have drifted away over the last few years I suspect couldn't give a rats ar-e about D/R entertainment is what brings crowds in.
I respectfully think that slating this decision is disrespectful to our board and sponsors who put more money into OUR club than we do. After all they must know more about the financial side of it than we do?
If you can't give it that year then please put your suggestions forward as to an alternative that would in your opinion ease the financial constraints we have and how we could compete at a level our board, our management and our supporters wish for.
As like my best friend Makingplans4nigel v2 I too haven't felt so positive before a season in years.
Up the Fax.
I await

Quote Again as far as Netherton is concerned I do not have the answer you want. As I understand, his involvement was agreed between the two coaches. I suggest you email your coach'"
Ist bad enough having DRs but why I fail to see is why Fax Need to share things with Hull Kingston Rovers. This bit from the Hull Daily Mail is what concerns me way more and has nothing really to do with Dual regs and the coaches. www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-KR- ... story.html
Quote Having confirmed his retirement from playing, former Rovers player Jason Netherton will take on a role of Partnership Liaison Officer as part of this link-up. One of his responsibilities will be to increase levels of participation in rugby league in Hull, Halifax and the North East
Off the field, there will be a joint scouting network between schools and amateur clubs in each location, with young players given an opportunity to gain a contract at their relevant level.
'"
Can somebody please explain why the Club feels the Need to go into partnership with this. As said Halifax has one of the best Areas for Quality and quantity of Juniors playing the game. We have Ambler and Watene going in to Schools. So why is Jason Netherton joining in and is there an Agreement with the loacal Clubs about this?
Quote TLBC, I went to both forums and DR was mentioned at both. I have no link with the Board etc but just wanted to clarify.'"
Why cant we just loan Players instead of the DR route? And for me the DR is not really my main concern the bit above is. Why was this mentioned in the Hull papers and on the Hull KR Website but not on the Fax Website or the Evening Courier website? For me Hull KR will gain far more than Fax out of this and indeed any Players will go to Hull KR first instead of Fax under this joing scouting Business. Sorry but I am not happy and Thing its something that should be talked about. The Dual reg is something I dont agree with but can understand to a Point but the partnership is a big step further.
