Attendance was disappointing though. Work commitments meant that i couldn't make it either. That's the one thing that we constantly struggle with - enticing the local population down to the Shay. It will keep us out of SL that's for sure.

Yeah the crowd was announced as that. It looked low but I didn't think it was a 1000 less than the Batley game. Shocking.

I can't blame people with the state of the game at the moment.

Wish it was easy, we have to got to improve greatly, otherwise our season could be over next week, if not it wil def be over the week after,

is it not a shared gate in the playoffs?

Very entertaining game for the neutral, a big improvement needed to progress, perhaps just
Complacement, well done the Cougars , a bit more composure and discipline and it would be them playing a week sunday

As for the attendance?



As I have said before, the ONLY live televised Championship matches should be the NRC final and the GF s , everything else should be weekend matches with highlights

A lot of credit has to be given to Keighley, they were very difficult to break down and their scrambling defence was very good. Yes we played some dumb rugby but credit where credits due.

What were Keighley complaining about for the last try?

It meant they lost the game and ended their season !!

At this stage of the season, the win is the important thing.

As for the game, Leahy was a disgrace, he penalised them 3 times in a row, calls Jones over, presumably to warn him and then another high shot, nothin happens! Poor poor referee.

As for Keighley, tried hard, Korkidas is just a thug, he's so slow he cant even manage to be third man in. No surprise that he was in involved in 2 tackles that resulted in head wounds to Sam and Tonka!

I said that to my mate at the game, ridyards play from nrc final, we were on the right end of it this time

Nowt wrong with the try I guess they thought the final pass was forward which it wasn't both the Ref and Linesman were close enough to call it and they were both happy hence TRY.
What a poor performance from us we played too much one man stuff and coughed the ball up far too easily, Ashall had a mare he has gone right off his game, but we won and we can play miles better than that, I guess the tough game on Sunday costs us a bit while they had rested 4 players at Fev.
We will play better a week on Sunday when Batley or Sheffield come to town

Was the game marketed? People didnt even know there was a game on. Its one constant let down from the club, as hard as they try and work in other areas.

I find it hard to disagree. They do lots of things that don't seem to get noticed and has as often been said - it's an organisation full of volunteers but facts are facts - the attendances are one of two things that will prevent the step up to SL; the other being the lack of a moneybags backer. Other clubs in this league face exactly the same problems. There's no-one streets ahead (out of Leigh, Fev and Fax) and i think it's essential that these clubs have to push on through the 3,000 barrier at least.

When the rfl make it up as they go along and no promotion and relegation each year it hardly gets the most hardened of supporter excited about the future never mind new supporters.

A reasonable target for increasing your attendance would be 300 per season, to achieve this, you need to introduce 6,000 new people to you matches every year , to catch a large number of fish, you use a net ( or a hand grenade ) , not a hook and line

Good point and now the Courier is weekly the club need another 'vehicle' to advertise games, even the boards at the Shay did not have the game on them so how do fans know other than on the website?

I was looking at the premier sports schedule earlier it looks like both games are televised next week. Our game on Sunday goes live on premier at 13:30, is there any build up or is it straight in and the game kicks off at 13:30?

Glad we got rid of Jones, he didn't throw and smart pass for Keighley all game.

Should come with free connect 4 more like! Our ball retention is poor but mostly creates a very flat atmosphere in the ground. I find it pretty boring to watch at times and extremely frustrating. Much improvement needed really
