Let's look at who will be likely going.
Tommy Saxton, Adam Robinson, miles greenwood ??. Marshall seems to prefer Johno at fullback. Gareth Potts.
I think we need another centre who can service a winger, too long have our wingers been scapegoats but they don't get good ball.
We also need to beef up our pack and get some rough, tough, mongrel in there. Tangata has been emended but cahalane hasn't kicked on this year from last years outstanding performances.

| For me the forwards were very strong last season but this season we got outmuscled on occasions Batley at home been one and Fev at home another. We need another big forward and a second rower to replace Divorty. We are crying out for a quality centre because this season we dont have enough strike players who can break a tackle. For me need another pivot with pace. We need 4 quality players to challenge next season for top 4.

| Before we announce signings I would like our BOD to tell us what we are targeting next year, their silence is ridiculous, or are they all away on their holidays?
If we are aiming to stay part time, which I am sure we are, are we aiming to be the best part time side or are we aiming for a certain league position? Once we know the aim we can assess the quality of the signings and then we can measure their success during the season. But frankly if the BoD can't explain what we are aiming for how the heck are is as fans supposed to know.

The squad this season was too big in any case. Too much chopping and changing trying to keep players happy. We need a smaller squad with a settled side with a few utility players who can cover different positions. Smeaton was a waste of a signing because what is point of having 3 specialist Centre's when only 2 can get in side.

| Our problem in getting any top players in is that we are part time and top line players will be after FT contracts so at most we can only get the best of the rest.

| Hi. Mr negative here.
We won't improve under the current Board of Directors.
All the sponsors appear to be small local businesses.
The Council are over the top regarding match day servicing.
Prices are too high to attract new fans.
There appears no effort to attract new fans.
I expect us to sign players on similar contracts that Dewsbury offer.
Oh, and Ridyard and McNally

I don't remember whether it was on here or in the programme but I'm pretty certain the money question has been answered,
For me we could have bought a Steve Redgrave rowing machine and 32 seater with a toilet at the end of this season, but we are where we are. Sometimes signings don't come off, we had some money, and now we have less.
We need to recruit quality, not quantity. We still have a nucleus that with 3-4 quality players added, could easily help us bring on some younger players. I would still expect we can afford to trim the squad and get them in, if they'll come.

So how does the club get bigger businesses to get involved? How do you get a random person with no interest in HXRLFC to drop a million quid in to the club with no hope of ever getting a return? We cant even find someone with an interest in HXRLFC who has a spare 1m to give away. On that note its probably underestimated how much the BOD have put in to the club with no hope of return, not that most of them either want one or expect one. When you compare us to the financial state of some other clubs the BOD have done a great job to even get us anywhere near the top 4 or would people rather us field WUP's every month or go all out for the top 4 and nearly kill the club like another chairman did?
As for signings to attract fans, we could sign Jonathan Thurston and it probably wouldnt even put 200 on the gate. People seem to forget what the crowds were like when we finished 3rd in SL, if we couldnt attract good crowds then it shows the problems the club faces trying to attract crowds now.

I agree with you that the BoD have done a fantastic job as without them the club would be extinct. They have baled out the club with loans when technically it is insolvent.
No big business will invest as there is little or no exposure for them. the fact that we don't own the stadium and only have gate receipts for revenue is a big problem for us.
The club business plan must be built on the shifting sands of the previous season. They have to plan ahead based on what they hope to achieve in the following season. I'll bet they were expecting top 4 again this year and will have planned next season around that. Not sustainable for long term development in my humble opinion.

| Which would be better, one investor with pocket loads of cash, who dominates the club, ( Salford, Leigh)or several smaller investors that will allow the BoD to run the club, of course investors need to have an interest in R L, they would not put money into an enterprise they don t understand. Did Fax not employ a new Business Manager with lots of contacts? What happened to him?
As for the playing side I expressed my thoughts on another thread, smaller squad, quality players ( maybe could then afford some of them to be full time) and bring in the reserves, and forgive my impure thoughts, D /R to fill the gaps.
May be it is a good job I am 000's of miles away, I can feel the backlash already.

We got a guy from cricket to replace Craig Poskitt.
What about Tony though? Is he still around? Does Reactiv, or whatever his company may be called now, still have shares? Anyone know?

Completely agree and to them it is probably not a small deal. Small businesses don't have great amounts of cash to throw around. We should be thankful for all our sponsors.

According to the records at Companies House Reactiv Media own the shares.
But this is at 29.3.16, from the Annual Return.
So it is possible that the shares could have still been "in" Reactiv and form part of the liquidation (they would have no value so see no reason why the liquidator would be bothered with them and so they would not be listed as an asset) or they could have been sold/transfered to someone after 29.3.16 and before Reactiv went in to liquidation on 24.4.16.
I asked a member of the Board this question and was told that they were transfered in to Mr Abbots name between these dates. Clearly he may still own then or have sold/transfered them subsequently.

| The game and even the clubs of SL struggle to find anything other than Small town sponsors. Rugby League is not really a market big companies want. Halifax are never on TV and play in front of mainly 1500 fans-how you going to get a big sponsor to splash out money when they are not going to get much back. Some people really need to wake up and live in the real world. The game and most clubs are just about hanging on in there. Unless a club manages to get a millionaire backer willing to throw money around then it will struggle. Thats where we are. A small club struggling just like much of the rest of the game including SL.
Have we made mistakes? Yes but realistically we cant afford to be a proper FT team that can get top players. We would be going after the same SL dregs as Bradford, Sheffield and Leigh. Where has that got them? The quality within the game is for me at an all time low- look at the state of most games in SL! Tell me who the club should bring in who would be a top signing in your eyes? The club has tried DR- not really worked. Its tried Loan players who are hit and miss (Sarsfield). It has brought in 3 overseas players with varying degrees of success. The Club has looked to get some decent youngsters in (Butler, Moore. Punchard etc) and run a reserve team. Sadly the game itself cant be bothered and we are left playing the same teams every other week! Batley and Fev have had good and some may so luck this year like we did last year. But for all that Fev, Batley, London and probably Leigh will still be in our League next year.
It seems we have to bitch and moan about everything. RM is not some messiah and he has never claimed to be. But the way the daggers are out for him is poor. The players and Coaching staff need motivating and comments that motivate not pull them down all the time. The 8s are a waste and we need one win to make the Semis in a pointless comp. Why not use the youngsters and see what they can do. Yes we could and should have played better. I dont think the negative comments are needed to say that to the Coaches and players-they know that themselves. We have lost our way a bit. Improvements need to be made for sure. Lessons have been learnt. But there is no need to act like rats and jump for no real reason. Being a fan means we go through good and mainly bad- thats just the way it is. If you want to just want the good times go elsewhere.
The board are doing a good job. No doubt they could do better but we could be in a far worse situation. People forget the stuff the board members do behind the scenes that go unnoticed. Its not just putting money in but time and effort as well. If somebody thinks they can do better then step forward put your Cash, time and energy in-sure none of the current board will not be grateful. Easy to criticize others but what do you do for the club?

| Well said, but remember that it's those 1500 or so that provide a decent slug of funding for the club each year, many of whom have done so for many years.
We obviously can't survive without the generosity of the BoD and local sponsorship, but I sense that the biggest frustration on here is that we want a little more transparency from the board, and indeed probably RM, over what our strategy is, what our (true) goals are, and what the journey to get there might look like. Clearly we can't be so transparent that we start showing our hand too much to our rivals, but as they say, the silence is deafening. The "open evenings" have been good, and the interviews on Fax TV Ok (albeit a closed shop now without paying), but the comms needs to be more regular and consistent.
It's been said elsewhere that England have been building a team since 1966. Fax have only been doing that for the last 13 years...
