Good news IMO for us.
Hope we don't lose one of our strike hookers now though.

| I'd be amazed if Glees went to Barrow. As mentioned it would cost them a bomb to buy him out of a 2 year contract, I doubt he's on a bad deal at Halifax and, meaning no disrespect to Barrow, the only reason I could see for him going would be for substantially more money and with Rooney and others already signed even a minor deity like Johnston still has to negotiate the (reduced) salary cap. On top of which I believe that Mark Gleeson has more loyalty to his teammates than that.
Still, in the (IMHO) corrupt world of the RFL anything is possible.

| Blimey, you lot are paranoid aren't ya.
Yeah, as feared Andy is off to SH and good luck to him. He goes with the blessing of the club and fans.
As for a replacement, both yourselves and Widnes have raised concerns that we may be in for your first choice 9's. As the Ellis deal was only signed last night after talks with the Barrow coach and Board, I doubt any talks have taken place or replacements identified beyond pure speculation.
Gleeson is a good number 9, as is Smith at Widnes, but a move for either is unlikely, for reasons you have stated yourselves.
Anyway we have a pretty able deputy in Nathan Mossop who has been learning his trade from Ellis for the last two years. Maybe we will give him his chance and wait/look for a more experienced player as and when they are available.
Lets all get our breath back after the season past and hope for more next year.
Good Luck

I don't think he was released. He leaves with the blessing of everybody at the club and rightly so. I doubt he will be the last player approached by a SL club at Barrow, Widnes or Fax. I personally think he could have gone to a better club than Quins but im not him or his agent. Good luck to the lad and who knows we may see him back at Barrow (Hopefully).
I also hope Mossop gets his chance.

When a team loses the championship player of the year it undoubtedly makes you a weaker team. He will be hard to replace.

Something I heard today will (if true) make our loss very small in comparison to what you may loose. Again this is not an attempt at trolling, rather keeping myself out of trouble.

TBH Ellis' understudy (N Mossop) is a decent player and is more than capable of making the No 9 his own. I heard a rumour about another hooker signing for us the other day and its not Smith or Gleeson.

| Ellis is a loss but Barrow have ticked the box same as if Fax lost Gleeson, Gene or Black it would be a loss but not as important as if they had gone and no SL box had been ticked-not that it will make much odds with the RFL what both clubs win or do. Good players come and go but far more important is the team rather than any one player.

Please elaborate.
Ellis signed for Quins yesterday after talks with Barrow board earlier in the day. He or his agent may have agreed the terms of a contract earlier but no signature.
If you refer to Barrow speaking to possible replacements, once again please elaborate, I like agood bit of speculation as much as the next man.

Oh dear, this has really stung you, Gazza, ain't it ... and after the "Rooney Rooney" thread where you got all giddy and excited you've been made to look a right proper Charlie, eh?
Losing the star player of the Championship is "Small in comparison to what we may lose (oh sorry "loose" )", oh dear, what gobbledigook, even by your standards!
Not been funny here, Gazza, but the Cumbrian clubs have always struggled because they've found it extremely hard to attract good players to the North West outpost ... over the years we've even had good Cumbrian players heading South to ply their trade ... as for non Cumbrian star players in Cumbria ... very very difficult. Ellis is an extremely bad loss for Barrow, you'll do very well to get a replacement as good as he.

Ellis was a pretty raw 21 year old released by Hull KR at the end of 2006. He's matured at Barrow and become the player he is today.

How have I been stung ? You lost me there completely. Cumbrian clubs struggle to attract good players - are you having a laugh ? So the league leaders and Grand final winners, who come from Cumbria, have no good players and have struggled to attract good players ?
Rooney, Luisi, Catic, Bracek, Allen, Bauer, Mossop on Loan .....Do I need to go on ?
Where the hell have you been for the last 9 months !!
Ellis is a massive loss but we will cope and we will find a replacement. We have a fine youngster in Nathan Mossop who is a Cumbrian lad. As much as it pains me to think we may yet lose more players to SL, I actually think it shows the class of player we have at Barrow when a load of Fax and Widnes supporters have done nothing but go on about us loosing our team to other Clubs. Our players may move on because they have won the major honours in The Championship and may seek a new challenge, wheras your lot have still got it all to win. Stung ? I don't think so !
To be honest, I couldn't really give a rats backside if what I heard is true or false. I was merely posting a reply to something said earlier. Anyway bedtime. Ellis has gone (with everybodys blessing I might add), we will get over it and move on. I suggest you do the same and worry about your own players, signings, coach, chairman & BoD. The off season will be very interesting and I think there may be a few shocks in store for us to discuss.
