Winning a first match is a very good start after previous years. That is was done away at Wigan speaks for itself. I'm most happiest for Lam Snr, always felt that his history with Wigan was a bit of a monkey on his back and it's good it's finally been put to bed.

It was such an historic score, it made national sports news here in nz. A brilliant performance by all seventeen players. Liam Moore must have read this forum beforehand. He had a great game.

Incredible performance. To go toe to toe with Wigan for 82 minutes like that, having lost three key forwards from last season is mightily impressive. The attack understandably needs to sharpen up. Hopefully we'll see more of Armstong running inside Lam, like he did for the carry before the drop goal. All the debutants had excellent games, as did Halton. According to SL stats, he made 40 tackles and 140 metres.

But credit to Leigh, they matched us and took the spoils home in what has to be the most bizarre game and score line I have ever been to, well done and on the night and the first community trophy sits in your cabinet.

Sensing that there might be an arrogance in the Wigan team that they can score a try at will, when game management required only a point to win the game.

Thought Leigh made a bit of a mess of that very last set as well, should really have got to the last play and drop goal attempt then as well.

We have if's as well, but my assessment of the game was, that it was a great spectacle for the sport, with the best officiating I've seen in a long while to let the game flow, which i found very entertaining with great defence, especially for the 1st match of the season. FWIW - I'm not a fan of GP.

Not sure of a great spectacle but a great battle between two good teams, I like to see a bit more flare and bum off the seat moments when watching games.

Totally agree R.E Moore, he officiate the game brilliantly, I was critical of him pre game but credit were credit is due. Unbelievable performance, the 1-0 score line makes it even more sweeter. MOM - Nui - got through a ton of work for a big fella in the outside backs and looked a threat all game. Must back this up with a win against a gritty Huddersfield side.
