| Very smart move from the Tories. Calling an election when its rivals are at an all time low. Guarantees them another 5 years to mess up/grow (delete as appropriate) our economy after brexit.

Yes, very smart, although, a complete U turn from the days of the coalition when they passed an act of parliament to prevent such actions and instead tried to ensure fixed five year terms.
Labour will be obliterated and the Tories will likely have a 100+ majority, creating open season on the poor and anyone unfortunate enough to be claiming benefits.
What will become more interesting is the actions of Scotland and N.ireland as the have one last go at trying to remain as part of the EU.

Oh really
How did the SNP, who want an independent nation, get 56 MP's in Parliament ?
Answer: at the last General Election
What is the aim of the SNP ?
Answer: To create an independent Scotland
Clearly, there is no connection

If they are then we'll either see the back of Corbyn or the birth of the Momentum Party. It will take a serious mullering to shift him though. He's f*****g delusional.
As for Sturgeon, she's just another windbag, self serving politician. The fact she dresses it up as being the heroic representative of a repressed minority doesn't alter the fact that she's full of $h!t.

If the Conservatives get the majority expected and stickleback gets a bloody nose then she'll be out. The majority of Scots don't want to split the Union.

| It was amusing to hear her say the country is coming together but Westminster isn't, what a crock.
Corbyn is deluding himself by agreeing to this election, the best thing he could have done is to have urged Labour M.P.'s to vote against the election plan.

It wasn't an insult, that would have been direct and unambiguous, it was genuine shock that you could believe that there wasn't any link between a general election, where The SNP put up their candidates and try, very successfully, to gather enough support to drive their cause forward.
Without the General Election and their success in securing so many MP's, they would be largely ignored, as they had been up until 25 years ago.

If you say so. The emoticon was unnecessary.
There won't be an Indy2 any time soon, once the deal has been agreed in principle there should be a referendum, do the Scots and do the other parts of the country want to keep them?

What do you mean ?
Are you asking whether the rest of Britain still wants Scotland (to be part of the Union) or, are you asking about SNP's, which is a matter for the Scottish people ?

| Some would say that she called the Election to preempt a number of tory MPs from losing their job following the police investigation into voter election fraud in 24 marginal constituencies the tories won.
On a different note if the Tories do win this sham election thats forthcoming (so much for 5 year fixed terms) then i think this will hasten the day the scots march to independence.

| Corbyn needs to go on a Bernie Sanders-esque campaign to win this snap election for Labour without a Hillary Clinton or Owen Smith getting in the way of progress.
However, with two Labour MPs already choosing not to fight in this election, I do fear they will be a domino effect of obstructive manoeuvres by certain members of the Labour Party to destabilise anything Corbyn tries to achieve. He would be the best Prime Minister in my lifetime if he gets in.

The bullying has come from those who have undermined Corbyn and McDonald every step of the way despite them two making Labour the biggest political party in Europe. However, been the biggest party doesn’t equate to the most popular party so I can only hope that these two are given a chance to have a good crack at this without the likes of Tom Watson and other critics interfering.

| I think the election will be more interesting than people presume. I also think it will cause divisions throughout the UK in all sorts of ways rather than unity. I think it will weaken Brexit (which is no doubt the motive).

It will serve as a convenient distraction to the withering NHS, the failing education system, voter fraud, the snoopers charter, the doubling of the national debt, a record trade deficit, stagnant wages, etc etc

Corbyn would be a disaster as a PM - he would do what most Labour governments do tax heavily - and McDonald has already hinted at that anyone on >70k he considers rich and they will be taxed accordingly which must include himself!! - spend on the most inefficient sector i.e. the public sector. He will bring in a maximum earning level which will result in an exodus of talent. You will see the rise of union power once again. If he thinks he can take on the corporates and beat them he really is delusional.

Indeed.
It's quite staggering that, under these circumstances, the ruling party can be so "popular".
Corbyn may well have increased grass roots numbers but, General Elections are not won by having large numbers of party members, they are won by the party which most people believe will deliver a brighter future than the opposition.
Labour may be promising to protect some of our public services but, what else are they "selling" us ?
People want to believe that the future will be better than what they have, unless we are in boom time (in which case they will be happy to "carry on"icon_wink.gif but, Labour are promising only to keep us in the mire that we are in and not offering any way out.
The Tories on the other hand will further slash the welfare state and with the help of their friends in the press, they will convince the masses that everything will be better when we are out of The EU and will win the election with a land slide majority.

It will also get us away from low taxation, reasonable growth levels, solid employment levels, increased living standards, an economy that embraces talent, low corporation tax, low crime levels etc.

How do you get "increased living standards" when, despite low inflation, wages have failed to keep up with inflation since the Tories came back into power, albeit with the LibDems for 5 years.
Also, I dont think the average guy on the street gives a damn about levels of corporation tax, regardless of any positive effect that the could have for potential investment.
What does "embraces talent" actually mean, it's just rhetoric, a bit like "British values".
Finally, "low crime levels", really ???

We have very interest rates which keeps mortgages at very affordable levels we have very low inflation numbers, so whilst wages may not have grown household costs have actually dropped - lower fuel costs, lower food costs etc.
Lower corporation tax means company's have more available cash to invest - if you believe Keynes that is the start of growth in the 10 year cycle - whilst they may not give a damn they will if it keeps them in a job or it means the company has the available cash to pay them?
This is a culture that encourages the best to progress where earnings are basically limitless - so if you are really good this is a great country to maximise the earning potential of your skill set. Why else would so many want to come here as opposed to France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Holland Belgium?
Are you saying crime levels are rising?

| Labour are 20 points behind in the polls, only 17% of the electorate believe Corbyn would make a decent PM. The fixed-term parliaments act was put in place to specifically stop governments calling snap elections when the polls suit them.
All May had to do was point to the cliff she wanted Corbyn to lead the Labour Party off and he ran at it like the political moron he is.
Jeremy, engage the peanut you have masquerading as a brain and try and imagine what the political landscape will look like in two years time. An incompetent Brexit agreement, including two years of slap downs for our negotiating team, a health service in ruin and the Scots leaving the U.K. All brought on us by Theresa May. She will have no bunker to hide in, no excuses and will have to face months of election build up.
But no, Jeremy, you're living in a delusional dream world.
The other rumour I heard was that Corbyn was thinking of stepping down in autumn. No wonder May wanted an election now.
