Just wondering, any bikers on here, how long it takes to do your CBT and then how many lessons/how long does it take to pass the motorcycle theory and practical tests?

Do you need to have your own bike to do the above, or is it like a car where the instructor would provide?

I'm wanting to do something different, and learning to ride a bike seemed like a good idea!

usualy do you CBT in a day, spend the morning doing theory, riding round cons etc then go out for a ride which usualy last around 2 hours, bikes usualy available for CBT though you can use your own as long as you don't ride it there, as for the other i don't really know as i passed mine back in the 80's, our lad did his CBT last summer and he's on about doing direct access whatever that may be, suppose i should look into it and see what it entails for our dafthead

That's the thing, I don't have my own bike yet, so was wondering if you can do it all before (like learning to drive in a car) and then buy it afterwards?

I'm not really looking to go down the scooter/moped route (at 6'2 and 16 stone, don't think that is really my thing!), would rather get it done and get passed, and get a decent sized/engine size bike.

I am similar dimensions and did my CBT on a tiny little Suzuki with my knees flapping against my ears.

I had it on the front wheel half way round a roundabout, received a round of applause from an entire beer garden and somehow passed. I'm not completely convinced it's possible to fail.

Our dafthead is a big unit, he said he did his on a Suzuki Vanvan and it only cost an extra tenner to use their bike
