So DDOS attacks and the internet then? Are the gaming networks really that insecure that a bunch of geeks can literally turn them off whenever they feel like? What happens if they decided to turn them off permanently?
Surely sever technology is at a stage where it can defend itself against things like this? Surely there is some kind of filtering system they can use? I can't say I understand DDOS, why is it so hard for mega-corporations to cope with? If they can do this whenever they feel like, what is stopping them from doing it to the major banks in the US for example, which would devestate the world economy?

So nice to see the spirit of Christmas isn't it, ruining the fun of millions of people because you can, lovely. I wasn't affected myself, as i was busy, but i hope they find these daft c**t's at some point and shame them, then put them in prison for being c**ts. |

That's the thing that annoys me. They claim to be moral warriors, taking down the greed of Christmas and stopping the sniveling spoilt kids from playing games and forcing them to re-connect with their families.  Yet I don't imagine those people were sat with their families enjoying a re-run of Only Fools n Horses but were instead festering in their bedrooms or basements stocked with servers and working overtime to take these things offline. |

It's an interesting subject alright. I remember seeing a presentation from our company's "ethical hacking" team 15 years ago where they described when contracted to test security for corporations, their main methods of "hacking" were tailgating people into buildings! It's not my part of the business, although we can support via OS support and SW version control, but something I should probably have got into as there's certainly money there in the protection business.
Anyway, back to gaming. Finally making some progress with Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4, and Elite: Dangerous, the first PC gaming I've done in a long time. Both have a bit too much of a "grind" element though. |

Got four Xbox One games for Christmas and started Assassins Creed Unity. I've played a couple of the others and they seemed OK, but this one has grabbed me. I rarely do multiplayer but the co-op mode in this is great great fun.
The game is bugged, still, but revolutionary France looks very good, story is excellent (pay attention Bungee, your games are just engines). It's about 22 quid now to buy, well worth it.

I got AC 4: Black Flag after being very sceptical about it after the disappointment of AC 3 (it was good, but not as good as it could have been), and I also thought the fact that they were bringing the games out so frequently was detrimental to the games. However, Black Flag may just be the best AC game so far, and I've played all the previous games. I've not played Unity yet, but I've watched a friend play it and I think it's probably the best console game I've ever seen graphically. You're right though it's very buggy, but that's par for the course at this point for AC games. |

It's a superb game. Also announced recently that sony have now sold 18.5 million PS4s worldwide. That's to actual consumers as well, not retailers. Incredible figures. |

I couldn't get along with Black Flag. The sailing just annoyed me and the character grated.
Agree fully about the 6 month gap between AC games and the rumours of the next one this year (London, Victorian era) doesn't help with sales, I guess.
AC:U is still buggy, but not enough to make me hurl the controller. Having said that, At least Ubisoft are giving the Dead Kings DLC pack free next week, which is a decent move.
If you do buy it (and its pretty cheap now after the much publicised crashes), I highly recommend the co-op missions. |

I thought the sailing was the best bit about Black Flag. They should make a game that's just that, proper cargo variety with the ability to trade, different ships and a wider variety of upgrades. "Elite: Dangerous, at sea"

I partly agree, I spent hours just plundering ships. Another thing that annoys me with AC games is they come up with good conceps but sometimes they just seem half d. For example, the 'Kenway's fleet' side game is a great idea however, the ship battle mechanic is a good idea but the way it plays makes it seem pointless, plus I don't recall there being a tutorial on it and as a result it took me until I was almost done with the game to work out how it works! |

Anyone else feel that the last of us is slightly overated? Im playing on Ps4 and ive almost finished the game. Dont get me wrong, it bubbles away nicely and is a "good" game but It gets a bet tedious of walk here, search this room, pick up supplies, kill zombies/bandits, rinse repeat. I think the zero punctuation review was bang on.

It's all just personal opinion at the end of the day, but I thought the game was pretty much perfect.
The combat and scavenging never grew tiresome to me, and the story had enough twists, turns and surprises to keep me on my feet. It also had some great changes to the overall pacing of the game and changes of scenery.
Graphically it is the best looking game on the PS3, the acting is superb, and the ending was also pretty awesome. I can't fault it. |

I have never seen a game where you can actually see emotion in the characters faces, especially Ellie but personally I don't agree with your assessment of the changes of scenery. I feel it's very much all pretty much the same. Maybe I expected. I'm up to the university bit and it's still exactly the same as it wad earlier in the game. Tell you what though, without giving anything away, the emotion I felt at the start of the game, you know, the first cut scenes I've not felt since final fantasy 7 so that in itself I guess is commendable. Better than GTA5? Not even close but a good game all the same
