| People like him, because he is genuinely entertaining. Which is, shock horror, why so many are going to vote for him, or have done already.

| It may be that Farage saw what happened with Ronald Reagan and believes he can do the same.
Fortunately (for the British public) he has neither the financial resource or human resource behind him.
It'll be interesting to see which seat Mark Reckless will be cntesting in May 2015 because he sure as hell won't get re-elected in the by-election he triggered

On your second point, the bookies have UKIP as 1/2 favourites for the Rochester seat. I would expect UKIP to have some bounce from a convincing win in Clacton.

| The thing with all parties on all sides is they have a policy you firmly agree with on one subject and then another policy you absolutely just can't stomach.
When it comes to the Euro elections I am UKIP all the way, we don't need all the bureaucracy, the semi elected political gravy train making a one size fits all policy for the whole of Europe. Ukip are the only party I can vote for that are palatable.
Domestically UKIP...NO CHANCE.

So you're happy to vote for a party whose only real "contribution" to the EU is to accept the salary and expenses that go with the job?
Take a look at their voting records and then look at the groups they are allied with in Europe.
Sorry but to me voting for UKIP because of their policies on Europe is like converting to catholicism because you like to eat fish on Fridays

| Don't vote for Tory, Labour, Lib Dem or UKIP.
All of them useless and as long as the EU run things all equally pointless.

I don't tell myself anything. I am simply aware of how things really are.
Perhaps you could enlighten some of us on here and give examples of how "the EU run things"?

| Think President Jose Manuel Barroso has been about right regarding his comments on his recent UK visit.
Still, Call Me Dave must continue playing to the Little Englander gallery.

| Farage needn't strike another Fozzie Bear pose (flanked by the ever-present coterie of "Blokes"icon_wink.gif from here to the election. He's played his part to perfection.
The people who have bankrolled his face onto every billboard in the country don't throw such colossal sums about lightly. But neither they nor Farage have any delusions about power. From the outset UKIP were a stalking horse for a Tory party shunted radically to the Right and nothing more.
All this nonsense about [i"foreigners over 'ere"[/i will be dropped the moment the polls close. To those who have chosen to back UKIP primarily because of this perpetual mantra - I'm afraid you'll be looking back in twenty years wishing you'd paid attention to the policies UKIP prefer NOT to talk about i.e. the transfer of the NHS into private hands.
UKIP and the Tories will be too much for a Labour Party that can only delay the inevitable (they certainly won't reverse the trend). Victorious, the Conservatives will publicly distance themselves on moral principle from Farage's foreigner bashing (despite privately holding precisely those beliefs). But they will [i"Hear the Voice of the Great British People"[/i and be only too pleased to adopt selected UKIP manifesto promises because any vote for UKIP must clearly be a vote to transfer the NHS's assets into private hands whilst retaining all the liabilities.
At this point Farage gets the key to a Swiss Safety Deposit Box containing a few million quid, a villa in the Caribbean and security. Job done.
You have to marvel at the diabolical genius. That said, a few million suckers makes the game a whole lot easier.

Its not quite as clear cut as that, but boils down to that effectively. Maybe Osborne has something right after all, as the annual review of the economic performance shows we've done OK last year, hence the increase.
I'll also be remembering Cameron's "wah wah wah, its unfair that we have to pay a bill in 6 weeks" next time my gas bill is a bit high.
And UKIP can bugger off with their thirsty vampire comment too - this from the boys who bowl up to get their money, do feck all and don't even represent the people who voted for them. If anyone is a bloodsucker i'ts them

Radio Leeds had Mike Hookem, UKIP Euro MP for somewhere in Yorkshire on for an hour this morning in an "in depth" chat about their party and his opinions on various bits and bobs, I say in depth because thats what it was advertised as whereas in reality the deepest depth it reached was him repeating time and again that their manifesto for the 2015 general election would be released "mid January", I actually think he was making that bit up because the interviewer kept pushing him on policy making.
He was also described as UKIP's defence spokeperson but when asked what experience he had of defence openly admitted that he had none but then again "neither do any of the other politicians at Westminster" so that was ok too.
Finally they got around to the european parliament and what he was doing there anyway when the one policy that his party have is to rid themselves of a job, he said he'd be happy to "join the dole queue again" if it meant leaving the EU and simply wafted away any discussion on what benefits may (or may not) exist for Britain remaining a member, clearly the discussion was getting a bit difficult for him at that point and when the interviewer asked why he needed a chauffeur driven car to take him from the airport to his funded apartment every time he travels to Brussels the answer was that all the other Euro MP's do it and anyway, sometimes they share a limo so thats even saving us money isn't it.
In the hour, that was about as meaningful as it got, he agreed with all the callers who rang to support him and dismissed anyone with a negative comment as "well they must be tories or labour supporters", when asked about the aged DJ Mike Read and his calypso it was ok because it was humour and "It ain't half hot mum" does humour just like that, it was pointed out that a lot of 1970s TV was racist by todays standards but that flummoxed him too much so they had to change the subject.
UKIP are not shallow at all, they aren't deep enough to describe as shallow, if they were a piece of paper they'd be tracing paper or clear drafting film, its so easy to see straight through them into nothingness.
