I prefer the Viz explanation that it was actually Blakey from On the Buses, who's rage at Butler and Stan the Conductor caused a tear in the space/time continuum that allowed him to travel back to 1880s London.

I also find it amusing that the Daily Mail, that supporter of free movement of Eastern Europeans, is happy to run a story that pins the blame on a Polish immigrant. Who'd have thunk it?

I've always said someone like Aaron Kosminski, but not for the reasons as the chap selling the book. DNA on a shawl that may or may not have been at the scene of Catherine Eddowes murder? I've read every theory going even the cr@p that was Patricia Cornwell with Walter Sickert, and Stephen Knight with the Royals. I've said all along, it would have been someone who knew the area, who lived in the area and was a little bit er nutty to say the least. Solved? Maybe, but I'm not sure I want a definitive answer now I think its one of those mysteries that works best unsolved.

But tbf to Poles, Kosminski was not Polish as such, but a Polish Jew, so it's another thing the Jews can be blamed for.

I do think though the book unfairly denies a much better claim for Rippership, namely that of a true native-born Pole, George Chapman. I think he dunnit, and he was actually called Seweryn Klosowski.

On the topic, if anyone is visiting London or lives there and hasn't done it already then make sure you do the Jack The Ripper tour that starts at Tower Bridge tube station. One of the best "tourist" things you can do in London.

I did it a while ago with the amazing Jack the Ripper author Donald Rumbelow, I even got to talk to the extremely knowledgable ripperologist in person! Highly recommended to anyone with just an ounce of curiosity about Jack
