| Wondered if anyone has had any dealings with Utility Watehouse.
A friend is a rep for them and trying to get me to switch energy providers to them.
Tried to look at online reviews but as they are a multi level marketing company most reviews are done by their reps.

| Just reading a few reviews and the company's own web site shows that your "friend" needs to sign up more and more "friends" in order to earn commission on the bills you will be paying, it may remind you of a pyramid scheme, I'm sure its not but I hate that sort of marketing -just get your prices out there on the market stall and let everyone compare for themselves, its not like its difficult to do these days.

| Don't sell anything to or buy anything from a friend. Unless you are not too concerned about the end of the "friendship"

Do a simple comparison on Uswitch, it will show you the annual price that you can expect to pay based on your consumption levels. The product is exactly the same whichever supplier you go with. In terms of customer service, if you pay all your bills on time you probably wont need to use their customer service people.
I don't think that Utility Warehouse will be anywhere near the cheapest on the market at the moment, so unless you are desperate to do your mate a favour you will probably be able to get a much better deal by going to someone else. I would guess that he will by making more money than you will be saving on the deal.

| As has been said, it's pyramid selling, much like Amway, as has often been said "if something looks too good to be true, it's probably fake"

I have just done a quick comparison, and the cheapest Utility Warehouse rate is ~£140 more expensive than the cheapest rate available for the average customer. Someone somewhere is making a lot of money, and it probably isnt the people doing the sales work.

there's always someone taking 80% of your 10%, as my old man says "you'll never get rich working for someone else!"

| Do a very simple search on their name and you'll come across plenty of posts and articles from customers who were promised savings and didn't see them or "employees" who took the bait, one was quoted as having been promised "up to" £5 commission for each friends quarterly utility bill that he signed up, in reality he saw £0.68 per quarter for each of the "clients" that he had introduced - you basically sign as a customer but are encouraged to introduce others with the promise that you'll be earning commission on their bill payments and as one of the quoted says, you're also encouraged to go to "almost evangelical" meetings with fellow representatives - someone I know approached me a couple of months ago with a get rich quick scheme, I didn't give him chance to explain what it was but I'm wondering if it was this one now.

Really? My Dad (self employed since the age of 15) said the same thing to my brother as he got a job at Goldman's. Brother retired at 45 I on the other hand waited till I was 50 Nov '13 before I retired, I worked for someone else as well.

| An irrelevance, he and I worked for someone else.
You said
"you'll never get rich working for someone else!"
I never worked in the banking industry and don't have a private pension.

Whilst I sometimes agree with your points I do wish you would have a little more understanding for others, maybe a little humility and perhaps try not to jump down the throats of those you deem beneath you. Not everybody claiming benefits are a drain on the state, some are I agree but the % is miniscule.
I count myself lucky that I can walk and breathe unassisted looking back at many others in the situation I was in don't they have that. Think of [u[iyourself[/i[/u as lucky I am sure you will find happiness instead of the jealousy and bitterness you display.
I have retired, I am 50 but I don't require or claim a penny off the State. The spinal unit I resided at for quite a long time completed documents for me that gave me Disability Ben for a couple of years, at the same time I set up a direct debit to direct the payment to a local hospice for terminally ill kids, the DD for the same value remains to this day even though I am no longer in receipt of the Disability Ben. I continued to work for four years after my paralysis (I now walk but have no sensation) visiting clients in my wheelchair, my wife drove me to appointments, catheterising me so I didn't myself in front of my clients and prospects.
Anyway it is France and Greece for 9 months of the year then back home to the UK for 3 months, I can tell you running three properties without a private pension is a bloody nightmare. Do you think I can get housing benefit?

| You're an inspiration, mainly because of your wine knowledge, but also because of the way you've tackled life.
You're welcome in my house for a glass anytime, I'll crack open the Winston Churchill.

| I switched my energy supply to them a few months ago, and to be honest there is almost no difference in terms of what I was paying with Scottish power and what I'm paying now, I was going to get my broadband with them but they couldn't provide their fibre optic BB in my are so I stayed with Virgin. It all sounds great but really the reality of it isn't that great.

| I'm with them, Dad was with them when I moved out so Dad claimed the .5% decrease in his bill.
Reasonably priced although their budget plans are a little excessive (aren't they all?). Had a decent fight with customer services as they wanted to put my plan up by about 300% to make up the shortfall on the electric payments.
Armed with spreadsheets and full detail of meter readings/estimates I got them to back down to about 20% (which is what it should be).
Just done a Uswitch search and they can save me about £50 a year - is it worth the hassle?

Jealous and bitter? nope.
As I say, I didn't know your situation (and why would I?) so apologies for any offence.
What caused your paralysis?
