Best thing would be if some people did a silent, respectful picket holding signs saying "we forgive you".

I just don't understand how you can hate someone so much in the way he did.

Hopefully no one. What he did was utterly nasty and disgraceful. You don't adopt his tactics when he dies.

Religion.

I was going to say he was a repressed gay. That might be true, but it's definitely religion based.

considering he was excommunicated I wouldn't be surprised if his old crew of heads turned up.

Better yet, a picket of the most flamboyant drag queens there are, with 'I am what I am' belching out from speakers.



But this would actually be the best approach – that absolutely nobody turns up.



Hate exists in all sorts of walks of life, but religious-based hatred does seem to have a particular venom to it, probably in part at least because believers feel a sense of righteousness, conferred by having the gloss of divine approval for their hatreds.
