You're right, he wasn't my cup of Java at all but "Walk on the wild side" was the stand-out song in the charts when I was supposed to be revising for my O levels in '73 and so its wormed its way into my Museum of Recollections and is routinely blamed for my failures at those exams.

It's no secret that Reed hated the press, he viewed most of them as sensationalist leeches. It was probably a Wail reporter who, when he asked Reed how he managed to be so continually creative, got the reply: "I masturbate every day"
