| The Independent Police Complaints Commission has expanded its role in the criminal investigation into the so-called Plebgate affair after receiving new information. The inquiry has exposed a complex operation to smear Mitchell with now 10 police officers allegedly involved from four police forces.
It has now emerged that three officers in the Midlands are under investigation by their own forces in an operation overseen by the IPCC. One of these is said to be the chairman of the West Mercia Police Federation. Mitchell resignation followed a campaign to oust him by the Police Federation, backed by Labour politicians. The growing scale of the inquiry raises new questions about the extent of the alleged anti-Tory plot.
The "Operation Alice" report is expected to go to the Crown Prosecution Service this week.

| Interesting stuff.
I await the result with anticipation. Especially given the amount of people on here who 'went to town' on Mitchell and defended the officers to the nth degree.

You shouldn't need to await anything, all of this could have been sorted within ten minutes the following morning and a quick review of the audio and video from the main security gate of Downing Street.
There can only be two reasons why this was not sorted by David Camerons office or his officers...
1. He secretly regretted the appointment just a few days earlier of his chum Thrasher and gave him the rope, let him tie the knot and then kicked the stool out from under him - but it took a little longer than he thought it would and int he meantime other parties got interested.
2. The cctv and audio recording capability at the main security gate of the seat of our government is non-existant or of such poor quality that the best one they have is from a camera without audio located fifty yards away, and its out of focus.
Frankly I'm starting to think option 2 is it, and if Al-Qaeda get wind of this then we'll know whats coming next, christ they won't even have to cover their faces...

Whilst omitting some words and inserting others to distort the article into a grand conspiracy against the poor, innocent Mitchell.

He has not omitted / inserted anything.
The story was also carried on the front page of the Sunday Times.
I seem to recall you were one of those who worked yourself into a lather on the original Mitchell thread. You were also banging on about the Osborne train ticket thingy long after both the train company and Downing Street had clarified the situation, and anyone with half a brain had decided it was a complete non story.

Really? Because I've read the story as carried by the online versions of The Independent, The Guardian, and The Telegraph and none of those three publications mention anything whatsoever about the involvement of Labour politicians.
Moreover, he fails to mention that the three West Midlands officers have been accused of exploiting media interest in the incident and not any involvement in fabricating evidence. There is not even a hint of any grand conspiracy.
In short, the OP is a fairly gross distortion of the facts.

So are you going to provide a link, I've already read the report that you quoted from but in order to avoid any copyright infringement issues its always the correct form to provide a link to the source of your quote.

Yes really. So your web based conclusions are correct then? It was the lead article on the front page of the Sunday Times.... but then you would have had to buy it to read it! There was "no distortion of the facts" and the word alleged was used more than once.
However you do not need to read now in the media about the Labour politicians sorry involvement to know what happened. Unless you were abroad, or deaf or perhaps a prejudiced Socialist you would be aware that the Labour front benches were baying for Mitchell's resignation with regular orchestrated sound bites on the TV news. No thought of not guilty until proven innocent, fairness or justice but rather like yourself and your leftwing chums. However I doubt that the Labour politicans were envolved with the police in a conspiracy, I think they were just being who they are ie: unbelieveable politicians
I have commented previously on the West Midlands police union (or Federation) not telling the truth in a TV statement with regard to what was said in their meeting with Mitchell. This could fairly be described as a fabrication. But fabricating evidence is not the only criteria that makes a conspiracy.
That there was a conspiracy has yet to be proven. But if two or more officers plotted in secret to commit a fraud (or other crime) then this could be regarded as a conspiracy. It may well be that there was some form of conspiracy between the onduty and offduty gate officers or it could just be a cover up to some bolshy police behaviour at the gate. My guess is the Police Federation alleged crime was just political opportunism and not part of any conspiracy.
But with 10 officers arrested it is yet another sorry episode for the police and our elected politicians once again failing to show any decent standards of behaviour. No one comes out well in this.

Your comment once again is not accurate. In the Mitchell case the unfair calls for his resignation without evidence came in the main from opposition front benches.
However you are right if you are referring to the boorish calls to find him guilty without thoughts of justice by so many posters on this forum.

tl:dr
Look - you can bluster away as much as you like. And I appreciate that you're just a 'comedy account' whose only role is 'hit back' against what you perceive as left wing bias on here. But the fact is that three out of 4 broadsheets - one of them a dyed-in-the-wool Tory supporter - failed to mention any of your key points.
Possibly you were too daft/gullible to check around before posting your oh-so-smug summary of the ST article, or maybe you deliberately went for the only one which backed up your own prejudices, but either way you've distorted the facts.

Really?
So the original story said "The inquiry has exposed a complex operation to smear Mitchell with now 10 police officers allegedly involved from four police forces." did it? I highly doubt it, unless The Sunday Times are as stupid as you or the OP.
Worked into a lather? Do you work for the Mail too? You both have a penchant for distorting the truth and exaggerating things. All this guff about Mitchell coming out now is irrelevant to whether Mitchell should be in his job or not. He's admitted swearing at police, nothing afterwards has disproved the Police Log as much as Mitchell's rehab campaign might wish it had. That's why he had to resign.
By the way, have you managed to work out the difference between fact and opinion yet? You seemed to struggle on the Eastleigh thread and appear to still have that problem.
