Blind faith in Farage, now that is scary.
Life will go on but, it's hard to be happy when we appear to have voted for something that appears worse than what was there before.
It certainly doesn't fill me with happy thoughts but, human beings can live with a fair bit more crap than we have so yipee, lets all just thank the lord
Nobody has yet said where this improves our lives, apart from not having to answer to Brussels.
Why should we be pleased about being worse off ?

Cos we didn't sign up for the E.U. - just the Common Market.
Cos we're getting our borders back.
Cos we'll now be able to set our own laws, not those ridiculous European diktats.
Cos we're sick of immigrants stealing our jobs & houses.
Erm, oh yes, we won, so just get over it, stop your whining & suck it up coz it'll be worth it in the long run.
So what if I'm worse off for the next few years (scaremongering), so what if the far right are on the rise (scaremongering), so what if my human rights become diluted (scaremongering), I'm English & I'm getting my Country back.

Interesting take on whats happened, especially on immigration.
I'm sure that you are aware that over half of the immigration into the UK was from outside the EU, areas where "we" had full border control.
Regarding the laws that we have in this country, which ones specifically do you think that the EU have forced on us ?
It wasn't the EU that wanted to cut benefits to the disabled, was it or the EU or tried to force Poll Tax onto the masses.
You (we) have been sold a "pup" by Farage and Johnson and the "better in the long run" means nothing.
Once we are 10 years into life outside the EU, nobody will be able to measure whether things would have been better or worse had we stayed in or, come out.
Therefore the only measure we have is for perhaps the next 5 years and I'm pleased that you are so positive about things.
The budget yesterday showed the country taking on more debt, directly attributed to the EU vote, £122 billion over the next 5 years.
That's an awful lot of hospitals, schools, houses, NHS spending etc, etc

You sound like Cameron. The people have voted out and have voted out for their own reasons, a significant one is they are sick of "foreigners" filling up schools, hospitals, taking council houses, taking welfare they've not paid into and jobs at a lower price. Stop waffling on like you are some MP or sat in a high up place. You, like Cameron and his cronies are completely underestimating the underlying reason for the 'shock' result. Its a shock 'cause of ignorant people like you.

It did occur and the people have spoken. It just goes to show how out of touch 'important' people are.
We will see tangible benefits on day one when the borders close and we can get our kids into the schools of our choice, medical near by.... Why does the argument have to solely focus on trade. Have you considered that there are people who live 'simple' lives and don't care about stock markets, trade deals....unlike some of the smart ar5es on here who think they are brighter than the governor of the bank of England

Loving your last point.
Everything is driven by money, without it, what are you going to build your schools and hospitals etc with, fresh air ?
I agree about politicians, both here and in the EU being out of touch and the free movement of the population within the EU, coupled with large numbers of people displaced by conflict (which we helped create), is no longer realistic and there is no doubt that he EU will have to find a solution for this.
I understand that most people dont give a damn about how the economy works and that's fair enough but, like it or not, it's critical to how the masses live their lives. From the price of petrol, food in the supermarket, and cash for investment in the very things that we all want to see (education, NHS, welfare state etc).
You can say that you aren't bothered and yet you complain about medical centres and schools not having enough capacity.
The two things go hand in hand.
As for being brighter than the Governor of The Bank of England, I only wish that I was but, he will make decisions on the fundamentals that control money supply and control inflation (stuff that you arent bothered about) but, if folk start to lose their jobs, the problem becomes very "real" and then you will be bothered.
You already say that foreigners are taking our jobs so, what happens when there are just as many people but, fewer jobs to go round ?
Maybe we should send "them" all home ????

You realise that 'Foreigners' are actually net contributors don't you?
https://fullfact.org/immigration/do-eu- ... y-receive/
Yes, that's right. They pay in more in taxes than they 'consume' in services. This is because they tend to be young, of working age, willing to work etc. The issues are mostly down to our government imposing austerity for the past 6/7 years. That's why there's a burden on the NHS, it isn't because Jonny foreigner is in A&E all the time, it's because it's massively underfunded. Exactly the same for education and housing. Underfunded and overworked staff.
it just so happens that making sure the populace put the cause/blame of the situation at Jonny Foreigner's door, is a lot more beneficial and stokes up the frothing mouth brigade a lot more than blaming it on our own government policy and austerity.
What sells more right-wing tabloid papers to the mouth frothers? A foreigner & family given a council house to live in, or some facts/figures about how much public services have been cut?
Do some proper reading before you waffle on with your bigoted, ignorant opinions.

Would getting rid of the Daily Mail and sending adults to the library be your answer. Sadly lots of people are just 'hanging in there' and had the opportunity to speak and spoke.
Have you considered some might want managed immigration rather than uncontrolled. Probably not as it seems its yes/no with you. Have you ever considered why so many Europeans from the less wealthy countries have travelled to the UK. whilst the numbers from Germany etc proportionately haven't risen at a similar level. We want skills we haven't got and the right to select them, not less wealthy people with lower skills coming for a chance.

I haven't not accepted it. The people spoke. Albeit based on a campaign full of lies, ignorance & bigotry. It's also my democratic right to air my opinion on the cause and possible ramifications.
Picking immigrants based on skills is fine, but bare in mind you're then at the mercy of the economy and industry. Australia under a very similar sounding system to the one you mention there has a much higher rate of immigration than we do.

Are you really of the opinion that the oldies of Britain voted for Brexit to facilitate a brighter future for generations to come?
The same older people who get on a bus (for free) then expect the younger generation (who pay) to give up their seats for them.
The same older people who have a triple lock regarding pension increases.
The same older people with their winter fuel payments & their free T.V. licences.
The same older people with their blue badges & brand new cars.
Their generation has never, NEVER, had it so good, it's just a shame they don't remember what it used to be like for the older generation.
What it used to be like - give me a break, when?
Was it the twenties & thirties - I very much doubt it.
The forties maybe - don't mention the war.
The fifties with the hangover from the war, fantastic.
The only logic to it all is, they're determined to give the young a taste of the good old days.

| Quote ="Exiled down south"If there were less people there would be less demand on schools, housing, hospitals etc etc but you don't see that because the foreigners pay taxes, are positive contributors and now we just need to invent an answer to infrastructure.'"
It's already been pointed out to you, in very simple terms, that immigrants are net [icontributors[/i to the UK economy; for the hard of thinking, that means it's an actual fact that they contribute more than they take out - like your friend who comes to the restaurant and chips in the same proportion of the bill as you, even though he didn't have a starter or any wine...
I know it's difficult to have your fundamental beliefs undermined, but when you form those beliefs based on the dogma spouted by Ukippers and the Daily Mail, that's what can happen. Facts are a bit of a pain like that.
The latest dog whistle nonsense from May's Tory party, is to blame the funding crisis in the NHS on Johnny Foreigner and as such, require clinicians to become migration officials and demand passports from certain dusky or swarthy types, before they administer treatment. That's a convenient way to swerve the chronic underfunding of the NHS under the Tory austerity years - austerity which has hit the poorest hardest, but has had no measurable impact on the national debt. Why don't they just give us the £350 million per week that Boris promised for the NHS during the Brexit campaign - problem solved?

Brilliant, I never realised that is what we had to do
If only someone had told us
