Looking at the review scores coming in for Skryim it definitely looks like it's gonna be front runner for game of the year. Mines been dispatched by Amazon today so I better get it by Saturday. In response to the post a few above about a patch, Bethesda have said there will be a patch released tomorrow.

Oblivion got good scores and that was absolutely terrible.

Are the basic mechanics of walking, running and fighting any better on Skyrim? Particularly the use of spiral staircases?

You can't dismiss an old game as terrible because of a few graphical glitches or whatever they were. I've not played Oblivion yet but I've heard nothing but stupendous praise for it.

I can dismiss whatever I like. It was terrible. Walking, stairs, fighting. In an RPG the basics need to be there and they weren't. It was hard to admire the locations and the different echelons of a wonderfully created game when they were so poor.

Got mine on order - hoping that it comes tomorrow morning but not getting my hopes up. I watched the review on IGN and they gave it a 9.5 so expectations are pretty high

I've had high expectations on a few games this year and been badly disappointed. Skyrim is ticking a lot of boxes for me at the minute just a few glitches need sorting. Reminds me a lot of things from Morrowind, but lots of extra bits that keep making me and my flatmate shout out "Have you seen this yet?".

Regarding the patch, there was an update on Wednesday, but that hasn't fixed any of the problems I’ve encountered. There's another annoying glitch i keep getting. When you go into any menu the directional buttons don't work. You have to keep quitting out and going back in. Very annoying when you're in mid battle and need to heal. Hopefully they'll release something today to fix these problems.

Anyone any rumours on when GTA V is being released. I'm a sucker for these games and have owned every single one.

Instead of running back away from the player there needs to be some sort of positional awareness. The AI should take no more than a few steps backwards as they wouldn't in real life. In real life the fullback would ping it to the keeper and in the first one, they would retain possession by passing it to the centre backs once you closed the midfielder down.

Are you just holding x throughout those clips? Auto-contain is absolutely useless as you'll never ever get in a position to tackle them. Instead of chasing their bum around the pitch, just get goalside and use contain. That way they come forward and you can intercept or challenge them.

Late April or May as usual I would suspect. Despite Rockstar never giving much away they're quite predictable.

High hopes for GTA. I just hope they've got a new engine for it. Gun play, walking, running and driving needs to be better this time than the previous engine. I just hope they put the emphasis back on fun as I found the last one very dull, even the locations were boring. I also hope they've rumoved the compulsory mobile phone friends notifications, so you are not spammed with requests to play pool whilst you are chasing a gangster.

No, I was just closing them down. You can't get goal side when you can't get near them, when you sprint at them, they just do a drag back or a quick change of direction. The CPU should 'know better' than to run from one end of the pitch to the other, only to clear it. Useless CPU, made to frustrate, not compete.

I bought MW3 t'other day but I've not even opened it so I'm gonna take it back. I've watched a few videos and it looks even crapper than MW2. UMVC3 is out on Wednesday and that should do 'til Twisted Metal. Still, Fifa can be a decent game, I just hate how on the higher levels, it doesn't become harder, just more frustrating. That's all it is and people can't even argue it, all the CPU do is become more cautious, i.e. the 'barrier' that you enter that forces a pass becomes bigger, so they pass it even quicker to stop you getting the ball. I beat the CPU at every level, but I've never found an effective way of getting the ball back yet, they simply run, twist, turn and pass it away at every given opportunity.

So you can win on Legendary but can't get the ball back? Your scorelines must be more like rugby scores?

Thankfully it arrived this morning and been playing most of the day - pretty epic so far. Just about to go and take on my first dragon. The soundtrack is pretty amazing and definitely adds to the whole feel and experience of the game.

Quick question.

I've been bought a copy of FM12 and obviously I can install it on a PC/Laptop using the disc drive, however I like to have it on my netbook (no disc drive) for when i'm traveling/at college. I know it gets installed via steam so if i install/register it on the computer with a disc drive can i download steam onto the netbook and get it onto it from there or is it locked to just one machine?

FM12 is locked to your steam account, so you can install it as many times as possible on as many machines, as long as you play with oyur steam account.

I can win because I can get the ball and score, but the possession stats are like 72% to 28% in favour of the computer.

Winning on Fifa isn't hard, the same tactic works on pretty much any level: hold up the ball with your striker, call a midfield runner, drag the following defender out of position and play the ball into the path of the midfield runner. When the midfield runner breaks into the box, either do a fake shot and work the angle into a goal, or play it across to one of your supporting players who should be open. I do that in every game on every level within my first couple of attacks, after that I spend most of my time trying to score L2 goals or goals abusing the skill.

L2 goals? What sort are they? Haven't played FIFA in a while. Got rid of BF3 and replaced it with mw3 which i prefer. So next for me is uncharted, assassins creed and possibly batman and that will do me for games.

L2 goals (Left trigger on Xbox) are like, acrobatic goals. If you cross a ball and the player has a bit of room, hold L2 when shooting and he'll do an overhead kick or something similar. They'll also try things like diving headers. I enjoy it because it gives you something to play for, IMO, it adds a bit more entertainment to a game that can get quite boring. Whilst online can be fun, I find it so frustrating with lag.
