Bought Rugby challenge this morning. It's far from the greatest game in the world but it is an improvement on the RWC game. Passing and offloading is a bit silly, and its ridiculously easy to offload. But the CPU doesnt act like it should in a union game. The cpu is happy to keep hold of the ball and pass it around rather than just hoofing it up field so it does make for a bit more of a flowing passing game. graphically its not much different to rugby league live, just a few more movements and animations.

Are you playing FIFA by any chance? There is/was a load of complaints about disconnections from FIFA when playing online and it turned out to a problem with Virgin Media.

If you are using a Virgin Media super hub you can apparently change the settings to modem only, then you can attach your own router to the superhub via a Ethernet cable. Then connect your console wirelessly and the disconnections will not happen.

It's not 'scripted'. It doesn't pre-define who wins and who loses. It is better phrased 'rubber banding' where it gives momentum to the side that is losing.

You can still win those games where the world is against you though. Try going more attacking, that seems to work well. FIFA online does produce a lot of very entertaining games due to this. It is very frustrating when you lose, but it's better than games being one sided IMO and once you realise it is going to happen you don't get quite so infuriated about it.

It's so obvious just by looking at your form. Mine will be like L/L/L/D/L, followed by W/D/W/W/W. I can tell within the first couple of minutes (real time) the outcome. My goalkicks will reach the halfway line, where their midfielder will ALWAYS win the header and find their striker in acres of space - where my defence is is a mystery.

And then there's that invisble 1 metre barrier you hit when you hold x to contain, your players can't get anywhere near the ball but the opposition can penetrate that as if it's the old defending controls

Any Nintendo fans worried about the recent financial performance? Losing $1.3bn in 6 months isn't great and the 3DS seems to have completely bombed. Worst thing is the software sales, from the reports it seems Nintendo only get 2 game sales per console on average.

Another failure with the Wii 2M2U or whatever it is called could see them in real trouble do we think? I don't see why they don't just refocus as a developer.

Contain isn't really that good. Drop back to a player one level back from where you lost possession. So if they are bringing it out of defense, change to your central midfielder. Use contain to block obvious passes and use team mate contain to close them down with the AI players. Once they get close, use the right stick to change to them and nick the ball. If you look at the player the opponent is using, it often won't be the player that wins the ball off you until the last second.

You would think differently if you saw the games I had this weekend. 2 games in a row I'm 2-0 after 6 mins MATCH time! The oppo does that cut inside thing on the edge of the box and tries the angled finesse shot for the far corner (why everyone tries this is beyond me because this is the first time I've seen one go in), except this is no where near the far corner but only a foot away from my keepers feet but decides to let it go in...not once but twice. Now, with 'momentum' I would surely be able to get myself back into the game? No. Passes are like through treacle, shots hit the post an unrealistic amount of times, your defenders run away from the ball, and pressing L1 selects the wrong player. So those results were determined before I started.

On BF3 is there any way to find out the stats of the weapons? I've unlocked a few, but don't know if there better than what I am already using. eg better accuracy or worse?
Or tell you the things that you have to do to unlock such things like scopes or flash light?

Stop whinging cos you're the worst player on the street. Why not threaten legal action like you did with Konami

There's no obvious way I've found, and I think this and certain other elements of the stats available are a step backwards from BF:BC2.

It used to be really easy to get detailed stats on your friends' performance but now they've trimmed it to the basics, presumably to steer you in the direction of the Battlefeed feature.

Gameplay is as good as ever (although I am abysmal at this as well as FIFA, maybe I've got to old for it!) but I feared that the server issues were going to be a game breaker. Hopefully the fix will sort this element of it out.

There is a site called denkirson which has the actual weapon stats for fps games. Battlefield 3 isn't on there just yet but the stats are usually on there not long after a partcular game comes out. Personally all the guns I have unlocked have been decent with the M416 my favourite so far. The Scar H is beastly but it only has a 20 round magazine so it does have its drawbacks.

I'm not sure in game stats are ever really a reflection of the guns actual stats, in COD for instance it is common for the stats to show that two guns have different rates of fire or damage etc when the stats taken from the coding of the game show that they are identicle in that particular aspect. I think BF:BC2 was also the same with in game stats being innacurate.

Just been checkin out Saints Row 3 and it looks hilarious, not played on any of the previous games but tempted to give this one a go.

Played 2, its a good laugh. More like your classic GTA than GTA:IV.

Just straight up fun.

A lot more tongue in cheek than GTA and it doesn't take itself too seriously. The handling of the cars felt awful and the combat is pretty poor but hopefully these have been improved. The graphics on Saints Row 2 were dated even by 2008 standards so hopefully the visuals have been improved as well.

My copy un Uncharted 3 is on my door mat as I type... Oh yeah!

Some people are quite bad at FIFA, especially on Ultimate team, where yesterday I won 10-0 and 12-0, which could have been more if the people I played against didn't knock the ball around their back 4 throughout the second half.

I've been quite surprised though at the amount of messages I receive after games, quite often I get 'Good game man' or 'well played' which is a refreshing change to the usual 'your mums a whore' ect.

I always send a 'good game' message regardless of result

I used to do this on games all the time, even back in the dark days of Duke Nukem 3D on Wireplay. Back then I seemed to be the only one willing to do it properly (some people just spammed the DukeAbuse system), so I stopped.

More up to date gaming such as Medal Of Honour and Serious Sam (alright, I like FPS games, so what) saw me start it again... but again I was the only one. So I stopped.

Wii online only allows you to send proper messages to friends, however there's often macros set up for a "Good Game" message... but again I seemed to be the only one bothering. So I stopped.

Onto PS3 gaming, and with Street Fighter IV I got into the habit again. Often got a reply back, saying "Cheers" or "Rematch?" or "Je ne comprends pas le ros-bifs". Then started getting replies along the line of "**** off, lagger". Which was strange seeing as I'd lost. So I kind of don't bother again.

However, if I've bothered to put the headset on, well... it's just laugh a minute. Gotta love American kids. Then kill them. (Not in actual reality, obviously.)

Up to chapter 8 so far on Uncharted 3, just as impressive as I knew it would be. Unbelieveable graphics, the level of detail on the surroundings is jaw dropping at times, and it's such a fantastically immersive game.

Get it bought.

How long/hard is it in comparison to 1 and 2. Just trying to work out how long it'll take to complete at my cousin's.

Can't believe Uncharted is out now, for some daft reason I had it in my head it was a Nov 11th release date. And I had today off! Looks like a lunchtime rush to the shops from work tomorrow...

Might consider giving the new Sonic a go, apparently that's received very good reviews (first time in a long time for a Sonic game).
