Well I well and truly got my bottom handed to me tonight on Ultimate Team and season. Wow. I had a great run of results last night but started tonight with a 4-0 defeat. I lost another 3-0, one 1-0. I managed the odd win but tonight was not my night.

On the subject of scripting I dont' think it's particularly scripted, but there are definitely games where you are favoured or not by the AI. I think you can tell almost instantly if you are going to win. Some games feel so smooth, the players quick and responsive, passes are weighted nicely. Other games, right from the off, just don't feel right. Like you are playing the game ankle deep in porridge. Your players just don't see as nippy or smooth, they labour onto through balls and get caught and simple passes are underhit and an opposition player walks onto it. I've still managed to win some of those games and lost plenty when it all feels smooth, but it makes you wonder how much of an influence the game has at times.

While I'm admitting my complete awfulness, I'll take some advice from those less awful than me.

I've played against players no better than me on the ball, but in defense they are terrier like, I have 2 men closing me down the instant I have the ball, constantly - making it impossible to string together any passes or mount any pressure.

How are they doing this?

They are abusing RB to do a team mate contain. It's a very effective tactic as they can switch to that player when he gets close to you and nick the ball.

With players who do it all the time though, they often lack positional sense and will often draw a centre back or fullback into midfield meaning a through ball or lobbed through ball leaves you clear on goal.

Now they've fixed the 'be a keeper' exploit, lots of people are falling back on manually switching control to a striker and staying away from the ball and letting the AI do the defending for them. This isn't as superhuman as the AI defense was when they were controlling the keeper, so it's pretty easy to break them down. You can spot if they are doing this by which player they are controlling. If they are always defending with a striker you can tell they're not playing properly.

So has anyone come across any decent Batman supermarket offers before I head out to do my shopping?

I'll play. I sense a lot of people claiming they aren't very good, so I'll expect to get slaughtered by a load of FIFA ninjas.

The AI's defending is really easy, at least on World Class it is. The biggest problem against the AI on WC is shooting, for some reason your player's shots don't seem half as clinical.

Also, the problem with people who mash the closing down buttons is lag. It's easy when you have a smooth connection to just pass it around them and score, but when it's laggy it can be very hard to make sharp decisions as you can often get ahead or behind yourself. As I said, I played online the other night and had a terrible game against this person, it finished 4-3 to him but the frustration was immense. Before that I had a game that I won 5-0, it was a hard game but I put the chances away. The game I won was smooth and responsive, the game where it was laggy was really hard to play the same way, i.e. possession/quick passing.

Just got FM12 from Tesco. I traded in that Deus-Ex last week, got £28 for it (only paid £22 for it brand new), after staff discount FM cost me £26.10. Nice swan.

It was the Limited Edition one. Thing is, Tesco were selling the Limited Edition one for £37.90, but they had an offer on where you could get the game + a £5 pre-order for £30 combined. So I basically got DE and my Fifa12 £5 off for £27 (10% off with staff discount).

But still, they were, at least last week they were, offering £28 on voucher for the Limited Edition, but my local store has since stopped taking trade-ins for a while I think.

I ask because the limited edition one is currently £14.99 at Game, one could turn a decent profit if Tesco are still offering £28 for it
