HandCent is pretty good if you want to jazz up your messages. Can customize the layout to how you like it. Taskiller is good for closing down apps and I've started using Twidroid for my Twitter activities. Big improvement on the HTC Twitter app that comes with the phone.

Not specifically Android, but [url=http://layar.com/Layar[/url is an augemented reality mapping app which is pretty cool.

| Looking at two Nokia's for upgrade, the 6700 or the E71. I have had the 6300 previously and the 6700 seems like an updated version of this.
Anyone had any experiences?

| I have a month before i can upgrade my phone and i'm really struggling to find one i like. Each phone i find that i like there seems to be problems with them in the reviews
Help!!
(looking for a QWERTY keyboard, not too big, push email would be nice but not essential and no touchscreen unless it has big numbers (fat fingers syndrome ))
Oh and No iphones either, can't stand them!

Look at the E71 I have mentioned above. Looks decent to me.

| I got the E71 on Saturday and so far I am very impressed.
Just one annoyance is that the video clips in the gallery do not show thumbnails of the actual video filmed, it just shows a grey box.
I cant work out why and cant find anything on line as to why.
Has anyone got one and know the answer?

Not a big fan of touch screens but didn’t know how I would fair with the small keypad as im all fingers and thumbs. But its truly amazing.
Even better when only a week ago, 02 were going to charge me £100 for the handset to go on there 300 tariff at £25per month plus the additional £7.50 per month internet bolt on.
A week later I get’s the handset for free for the same tariff plus £180 credit to cover the cost of the internet bolt on.
Plus 25% off the Blackberry Bluetooth visor kit.'"
Recently renewewd my contract with o2. Looked at HTC then somehow settled for a Samsung Galaxy. Piece of rubbish so sent it back and got an 8900.
Great piece of kit that beats anything I've had so far.

| Just ordered a HTC Desire, due tomorrow, £10 per month, 100mins, 100 texts, unlimited internet, free landline calls and paid £134 (£30 knocked off when I asked for a bit of dizzy)for the phone. Works out at £15 a month for the length of the 24 month contract if you add in the cost of the phone. Actually works out £5 cheaper than the cheapest PAYG deal I've seen.

The battery life isn't that bad if you're willing to turn Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, etc. off when you're not using them, along with lengthening the time between checks for email and 'social networking' stuff. 2-3 days usage per charge should be achievable for moderate use, which isn't too bad for a smartphone.

| I get 18 hours out of mine which is more than enough for me.
I use a program called locale which turns stuff on and off depending on where i am on the map.
Very handy.
I also get my emails checked every 5 mins during peak hours (Set for 6am to 8pm)

| I can't remember and can't be faffed looking back to see if Advanced Task Killer has been mentioned as an app for Android phones. If it hasn't, get it and use it; if it has, get it and use it. Don't know how much battery life it saves, but it frees up a lot of memory by allowing you to turn off tasks which may still be running in the background.

| A lot of reports say it is not needed for the Desire. Tried one for a short time, but did not find it made much difference.

It does clean up after itself pretty well, so a task manager isn't really needed. It's a 'nice to have' though, for monitoring purposes as much as anything.

| My contracts due up on my iphone (18 month) and im looking for a new deal and phone (prefer a blackberry) i currently pay £35 a month with O2 and get something like 600 mins and 600 texts and free internet. I want to cut my monthly bill down to £20 and get all the above what i was getting with the £35 deal.
Anyone got something similar with anyone else?

| Due for an upgrade and looking at my first foray into a smartphone. I can get the N97 mini for free, any good?
And stupid question alert: Does 500MB mobile internet and webmail mean I get a certain amount of internet before I get charged any more than my monthly payment? If so, just how much is that then?

Nice looking phone and got 4 out of 5 in this review - www.techradar.com/reviews/phones ... ?artc_pg=1
However the 1st couple of pages of the review put me off the phone.

Sounds like it is a few software patches from being a very good phone. Be interested to know how it goes? Do you mind reporting back once you've had some experience? Cheers.

| The Xperia X10 does look pretty cool. I've not had a phone for a couple of years now after moving to a company phone. The Mrs wants to get an iphone, for no other reason than that they are 'the best phones'. But looking at the adverts for the Xperia, it seems a lot better than the iphone software, which is terribly dated an in need of updating.

| I've decided that i'm going to go for the HTC desire on Virgin mobile £20 P/M 300 minutes 3000 texts, unlimited internet and free calls to other Virgin phones + £149 for the phone. I'm hoping to get a better deal out of them though as i want to take out another contract phone for the missus (she wants a Blackberry) aswell as internet, TV and landline.
