| Selling my PS3. Will throw in a HDMI lead and the following games: Infamous, NCAA 11, G1 Jockey 4, Uncharted 2 and EA Sports Active. It's the 320gb model and is like new. Literally only been used a handful of time. PM me any offers.

| Decided to download some demo's for the PS3 and amongst them was Killzone 2 which i have just been playing.
Firstly what hit me was how slow it is in comparison with other shooters, i found it really slugish to the point that even looking around you seems to take an eternity.
Really glad i checked out the demo before thinking about getting the game!
Very disapointing.

Im more of an X Box boy myself, but G1 Jockey is ace, especially when you get that classy 2 year old that turns out to be the best horse in the world, and you win the 2000g by 10 lenghts whilst saluting the crowd 2 furlongs out.

Fifa still has its referees on the finest beak going. Get on this piece of drama I uploaded before:

Not sure how I wasn't fouled, but managed to foul him by standing up? Nuts, but it won't be 'ironed out' because it's happened on every Fifa since they brought in the silly 'jump over challenge' aspect.

The changes to the defending will have caused that no doubt. Some of the strops being thrown on the FIFA forums about legacy defending not being possible online are hillarious.
EA though really need to start making it work out of the box. Career mode is bugged to hell again, online play is suffering disconnections and people are abusing the 'be a goalkeeper'. It'll be fine once they patch it all, but why not do it so it's good to go out of the box for once?

| Got to say Fifa is poor this year. (So bad i'm trading it in).
-Career mode hasn't improved at all.
--Ultimate Team is decent. However compare it to Madden Ultimate Team it is terrible, everything right down to how the cards look is worse.
- All of which would be OK if the gameplay had improved. There are only so many times you can spend 90 minutes chasing opposition central defenders around as they do cartwheels, handstands and absolutely anything to evade tackles. They just turn on the spot whereas it isn't the same for me when i'm possession. I've tried turning the difficulty down- on Pro and up I have zero chance of ever seeing the ball and lose 99% of the time. On Semi Pro down I can win but games are always scores likes 5-4 or 3-2 due to the complete mess that is defence.
Planned on getting Jonah Lomu today but it has been put back to next week.

I don't play online so I've turned legacy defending off. T'is really easy when you turn that off, only problem is the CPU seem amazing at shielding/keeping hold of the ball. If you play on Professional (or above), the CPU will basically do all they can to keep the ball, so they will run everywhere, shielding the ball, sharply changing direction and doing just about anything to avoid being tackled. I'd say fair enough if I could do the same, but for some reason, no matter what direction you turn, no matter how you shield the ball, they just tackle you. I can win on Professional, but it brings back my old complaints, you can't enjoy playing the game on high levels because the game removes so much joy. The problem is; your CPU teammates don't improve like to go with the AI, so they still swan around being idle and let the CPU play around them.

I'm playing on professional and enjoying it a lot. The AI seems fine at that level to me. I can win most games I should be winning (As Everton) but struggle against better teams (Unite,d Arsenal, Chelsea etc) and have the odd mare. I can't see myself turning the difficulty up for a while. I've never been the greatest FIFA player in the world, but the tactical defending that is causing everyone so many problems isn't an issue. If you stay goalside and block obvious passes it rewards you and gives you the opportunity to steal the ball.
I just think people need to change their mindset. On previous FIFA's everyone was ultra aggressive when it came to defending. Hold red/circle to homing missile the AI and steam straight in with a tackle, literally giving the opposition zero time to play and making it totally unrealistic. On 12 if you do that, it will just skip past you. You've just got to accept that the AI is going to have periods of possession and pass it about.
When using tactical defending most people I've seen just hold green/x to auto-contain the AI. This means they are auto-chasing them round the field but not actually attempting to tackle them. That is what causes the ridiculous scenes of chasing AI players round for a mile or two.
Just check back out, stay goalside and jockey them. They will then turn to come at you and either pass or look to take you on, giving you the opportunity to intercept it or put a tackle in.
The defensive side of FIFA is vastly improved. It's just that most people are too impatient to actually put down the way they've played FIFA for 10 or so years and learn something new. FIFA has gone from pick up n' play to the total opposite and you've got to adapt how you have played it for a decade to get the best out of it.

| I've turned legacy defending on, yeah.
I think I may have to invest in a PDR so I can record some games and commentate them about what I think is wrong.
I don't mind the AI having possession of the ball, the problem is, when I close them down, all I can get is one teammate to assist in closing down/helping, but when I'm on the ball, the AI seem fantastic at having all 10 of their outfield players man-marking mine out of the game. I don't want it to be an aggressive tackle-fest, but, at the same time, I can't understand why it seems the AI have more ability to control their all of their players.
Another thing is the way the AI 'knows' what you're going to do because it responds to what you press. Maybe I'm wrong in expecting the AI to perform like an actual person, but it takes things like skill and the 'unpredictable' element away from the game. Me personally, I'd prefer it if the AI took its own guesses, i.e. if I made a player do an off-the-ball run, they would decide whether the pass was going to be on the deck or lobbed, they instead respond to what I press before execution, thus making me attempting plays useless.
I've played on Professional and the level above (can't remember what it was, World Class?) and I won both games. The games themselves had about three shots by each side, one being my goal which made each result 1-0, as that's all I could win by. My goals weren't through great craft or skill, I closed a defender down, broke through on goal and cut it back for a tap-in. It's easy to beat the CPU doing that, problem is, it isn't fun and I don't believe that people who play against the CPU on higher levels get to utilize all of Fifa's qualities, e.g. 1v1 skill, one-twos and the varying types of crosses and through balls, because when I've tried it, you're talking 1/10 1/20 times it's worked.

I would agree with you on the difficulty levels. It's still possible, but the defensive efficiency of all AI teams is way too high on all difficulty levels. They all play the same way and are all brilliantly disciplined and mark and tackle perfectly.
I think the enjoyability factor suffers the more you go after realism. Watch a Premier League game and imagine it's a game. How frustrating would it be? 5 whole minutes can go by without a team getting the ball properly under control. Pass, tackle, interception, missed pass, throw-in, fight for ball, free kick, header away, missed pass, throw in etc. FIFA now replicates the P1 defensive side very well I think. The other side of it, the AI defending is very difficult because there has to be someway to maintain a reasonably challenging game. They could make FIFA so you could easily make flowing moves with players being taken on, lots of movement and wonderful passing. But how do you then avoid winning every game 9-0? Playing football games and wanting them to be realistic makes it very hard for the developers. Imagine you couldn't score against Stoke for example or got battered 4-0 as occasionally happens to most team in real life. It's as frustrating as hell. It wouldn't be fun.

| I don't get the problem... I'm really enjoying the new FIFA, takes much more skill than any previous football game. I can't comment on any problems, I've had a few people quit on me but no disconnections. I don't really play much career mode (a bit boring for me) but online has been great.
Defending just takes time to adjust to, I find the best way is to jockey (with x) then wait till the time is right to tackle, or use R1 to bring another defender in, sometimes just go for the tackle outright (circle). Tactical defending means just that, like in the real world.

| Im loving the new fifa, im playing on world class and im 2nd in the league with Chelsea 2 points behind Man Utd. I beat Man Utd away 2-0 then got beat against Stoke 1-0 at home, its alot more realistic.
The defending takes a while to get used to but like the rest of the game its realistic. I tend to just hold L2 and back off till the right time to go in.

I'm loving it too. Defending is brilliant, so much more realistic and actually lets the AI into the game.
I'm not as good as you but I'm 6th with Everton on Professional.
I think one thing they've done really well on this one is let you feel the potential in the youth players. Barclay for Everton is a 69, but when you play as him he's got some lovely touches that you see from the 85+ players on the game. Same with a 16 year old from my youth team. He's a 49, but his potential was 82-94 and he is quality, just too light and gets pushed off the ball and has no stamina. But you can tell he's going to be awesome.

Has anyone ever done it at a Smyths toy store, and if so did they seem to give generous trades etc?

The first one was one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. I was absolutely gutted when it finished because I had enjoyed it so much. The Joker in it was just the best video game character I can recall and the opening sequence when you are wheeling him into the asylum is just utterly brilliant.
I fully expect the second game to be sensational.
