Just been playing fifa 12 on the pc. Very hard to get used to it. The defending element has changed a ridiculous amount. but it is a lot more realistic in some ways. Just frustrating as hell. Very hard to get the ball back once you lose it as well.

Still looking forward to getting it on the 360 though, Should be awesome as ever on live!.

I think the origanal RARE team was broken up - not sure why but i seem to remember some kind of split either before or just after Perfect Dark was released on the N64.

Hopefully one day we will see another superb Perfect Dark game!

IIRC members of the origanal RARE team went on to develop a game called Time Splitters.

Seems EA have messed up FIFA's career mode again this year. After players not developing last year, it seems it's the other way now.

It now appears that the CPU teams develop so fast that by year 2 every player in the league would be an 80+ and by year 4 almost all CPU players have pace 99 and acceleration 99.

It's becoming as bad as Football Manager now.

No surprise there. I'm sure all of the other heralded 'changes' will fail epically too.

I twitter messaged them and they said they'd forgotten to put player's potential in properly and that it'll be sorted ultra quick. Last year it took 9 months so hopefully it'll be 8 at most this time.

So they've basically admitted they don't even test the game?

They don't need to. Its called FIFA so will most likely be the best selling game of the year regardless.

Just started on Drakes Fortune - very good so far - very tomb rader in parts but at least a game we can both play as im pants at solving puzzles!

City are way too good! Playing a career on World Class with Man U, won most of my friendlies then lost 4-1 to City in the shield thing. The possession was something like 75%-25% in their favour.

Defending is a bit of a joke so far I think. Not played on live but against the cpu its almost impossible to get the ball back, and even when I make tackles 80% of the time the opposition will still manage to come away with the ball. It's good that they've done something different after the last games being really similar but so far its doing nothing but p1ss me off.

It will take a lot of getting used to. But it does make the defending a lot more realistic. On the higher levels you will have to think about what you do with the ball as once you've given it away getting it back isn't so easy.

I found it a lot easier after remapping the controls so that green/x was tackle, red/circle was auto-press and right bumper was contain.

I might give that a go, having to press the trigger button to auto-press makes it so much more hard work than it needs to be.

I can see how it is more realistic but at the same time, its not gonna be much fun playing online if your opposition gets the kick off and just keeps hold of the ball.

Great game, I've got platinum on that. Uncharted 2 is my favourite game ever though!

Shall check that out once ive finished this one - just past the part where you find the german u boat - graphics are awesome!

Just picked up my Special Edition of Fifa 12. Got it with a £25 PSN card, cost me £35 for the lot. Bargain!

Yeah. Well, it's get Fifa for £25 if bought with any other charted game. The PSN card is in the chart at £25 (I think MS points are also there), so it makes it £50 overall. I had my £5 pre-order slip that I got to make Deus-Ex cheaper, and I also had one of the electrical coupons they're printing off at the moment (save £5 if you spend £50 on electricals).

So, 10% staff discount, £5 pre-order (actually cost me nothing) and £5 coupon made it £35. Got the special edition copy as well, so I have loads of money to buy packs if I want and I have lots of free packs too.

If you want to get one of those £5 off electrical coupons, best thing you can do is ask at the customer services or electrical desk. Loads of people leave them and some people keep hold of them for a bit, but they also print off if you do your shopping, so if you need your groceries, you'll get one anyway.

Already nearly smashed my PS3 with this new Fifa. Just warming up on FUT playing against the CPU. Why, in the second half, do the opposition just run backwards with the ball? I am chasing strikers back to their own corner flag and all they do is put it out for a throw. I can't get the frigging ball because the opposition run backwards with it. My first half possession was 61%, my second half has now changed to 37% because I can't get the ball back!

Never heard that one. What difficulty level is it? I'm seriously considering putting it the drawer for a month until they fix the most serious flaws.

It's only my second game, on semi-pro against Liverpool. I will eventually put it up, I just like to enjoy the game before I put it on scum mode.

Couldn't believe that then, when the games are so short, it really frustrates that 5/10 minutes of the half can be wasted chasing one player backwards.

One (possibly minor, could be major) fault I've seen so far is the player's actions during the game. My defender just gave away a free kick and automatically argued with the ref, problem is, the opposition took a quick free kick when he should have been getting back. The idea is nice, but they need to make sure players aren't pratting around, especially if you're in control of them. Hopefully it doesn't result in any problems, but it wound me up when I was trying to get back and couldn't because of auto-crap.

I'm going to play 7 or 8 minutes halves I think. I'm so bad at creating chances that it'll take me that long to have a reasonable attempt on goal. I think I went 24 games on the demo without scoring.

Is it not that good then?

Yeh I've noticed that happening quite a lot and It happened in fifa 11 to, Really can cause massive holes in the defence when your CB can't be controlled because he's to busy flailing his arms at the ref. something that I hope gets fixed.

FIFA always has issues upon release. Whole game modes don't work, it's buggy and the servers are simply unable to cope with demand. It'll settle down and within a few weeks it'll be fine.

It's one of the most highly acclaimed games I've seen, reviews are consistently high and it has a metacritic score of 92.

The changes to the defensive system are a fantastic improvement, but it will take time for players to get used to it and also for EA to iron out the deficiencies there will unquestionably be in the AI because of it.

It all comes back to the 12 month release cycle. If it were done 2 years or even 18 months, it would be a lot more polished upon release.
