I mean just take a look at this post to see how far beyond some voters are - and this identifies the scale of Labour's problem. Although of course ZZB would never vote Labour in a million years.
Tory PM uses the military as a blatant political tool, a prop for his party. Your reaction isn't "my God, how has it come to this". It's "great politics, those wimps in Labour wouldn't be so brazen". It's all about your side winning and it's still shocking and still depressing.
Then your last sentence here is just regurgitating the never-ending lie that Tories like you somehow are more patriotic or more British than other people. That's probably the most insidious and disgusting thing of the lot, but you genuinely believe it. And I'll never stop despising people like you for it, especially as you accuse other people of dividing the country.

But there are many fewer people working in factories and workshops than 40 or 50 years ago. See also in mines or on docks. And many of those that do see themselves differently to how their parents and grandparents saw themselves. Which is natural, times change. They’re still important but they’re not the basis of a mass political movement now - just one of several demographic groups. If you go all out to win them over you risk other elements in your voter coalition.

I think Johnson is the political equivalent a jolly fat bloke selling us a doughnut for our lunch, while Labour is a thin lass with a thin smile and a pitying look in her eye offering us a chicken salad. Life is hard and a lot of people think ‘stuff it, let’s have a treat’, and worry about the weight gain, blood pressure and pre-diabetes later.
Even if we point out that the jolly fat bloke keeps the change without asking, that’s ‘just Boris’ and y’know... doughnuts!

Grow up - where did I ever say that I am more patriotic than you - stop making stuff up. When was the last a Labour MP said what a great country this is? I had this argument with you all through the Brexit stuff - your view was we are not able to survive outside of the EU - this is a great country filled with very clever/innovative people like James Dyson people who can transform the mundane. Being in Europe would certainly have made trade easier in the short term I agree with you on that but we will find a way to prosper because that is the country we are.
I am not Labour's problem - I would never vote Labour their values and mine are not aligned. What Boris did is nothing compared to what Blair did in Iraq!! It demonstrates a willingness to show we want be pushed around - I know you believed the EU was a Saintly organisation but most normal people don't see it the way you do.
You think like Labour do - "these people are idiots - why can't they see what in front of them" - it is that arrogance that might work with a few in Islington but doesn't cut it with the vast majority. Your problem is you are incapable of seeing any other stance than you rigid set of opinions and like Labour you either adapt or no one takes any notice.

Of course it's about economics try telling that to the various trades whose day rates had been undercut, making their income a fair bit less ,london labour rates in general are down to the mid 90s levels

I can't get my head around the voters who have 'priced in the lies' but still believe Johnson will deliver on his levelling-up agenda, the new hospitals, the new nurses, the new police officers... Do they think he's only lying to other people?

I honestly don’t get it - he has something that I am completely blind to. And it is very hard to work out how to beat something you don’t understand!
It doesn’t seem to be a positive vote - nobody can straight-facedly say anything positive about him, but it doesn’t [ujust[/u seem to be a negative pooping in the pool or anti-Labour thing, either.
I’m clearly massively out of touch. I’ve tried - I’ve watched lots of Jeff Taylor videos on YouTube. I don’t want to just dismiss it as a national emotional and intellectual meltdown because that feels lazy. But I can’t come up with anything better. maybe it is like that dress from a few years ago that was blue and black, or white and gold. Maybe some people see Boris Johnson as talented, interesting and wise, and it is just another state of perception. But then, why does nobody ever say it?
It is almost funny.

My Sister in law & brother in law are the same.
Constantly on Facebook - Posting "Go on Boris - You show em". and stuff like that
Whilst at the same time complaining about the country, the police, the NHS, the Schools and that "You can't say anything these days!"
In one instance mid last year I was having a conversation about the Pandemic, The PPE situation, The mixed messaging, Dominic cummins,Track & Trace which were all, in her words, Awful!
I then proceeded to tell her about Johnson missing Cobra meetings, his words about Shaking Hands with everyone, His announcement at the Tory Party donors address (He didn't miss that like he missed the Cobra meetings did he!) and other stuff that led to those issues and she said "Oh I don't know, I quite like him" - I asked Why? She said "I don't know"
No perception that any of the issues that are Plaguing the country today are anything to do with Boris, anything to do with the Tory's etc. and no tangible description of anything that the Tory's/Boris are doing to improve the situation.

| A lot appear to have voted based on the positivity they feel now with the vaccination rollout and the release of restrictions. They forget what came before it or the fact that the Conservatives have been in power for 11 years.
I actually think some do not believe Johnson’s Conservatives are the same Conservative party that proceeded him as leader.

Right now, there is very little that Labour can do to make ground on the Tories (or even hold the ground that they had).
There is eye watering spending going on and the vaccine appears to be successful, plus the promise of "levelling up".
I dont think that anyone can argue that the UK appears to be doing well with regards to covid and the spending / levelling up wont be an issue until someone decides that it's time to pay down the debt.
It is then, where the true colours will be seen.
Just who will take the biggest hit to their income or have to pay higher taxes and of course, then we have the "levelling up".
This was a clever line from Boris, giving the appearance of a brighter future but giving nothing whatsoever to make it happen.
Meanwhile, the UK's debt is growing at a faaster rate than the ice cap is melting.

| The one thing that is clear from the results is that the incumbent party have fared better in each country. It could be said that in Wales the Conservatives have made little impact. It is clear that each has benefited from the vaccination bounce. I guess the question is how long will it last for every incumbent.
