I wonder what is worse:
1. Targeted air strikes at designated terrorist targets with prior warnings which may have the unintended consequences of civilian casualties; or
2. Indiscriminately firing hundreds of rockets into civilian population centres with the intention to kill and maim civilians.

I have no problem with that at all. It's their life, they can do with it what they wish. If you believe strongly enough in a cause, go and live or die as you will. Whether I agree with the legality or indeed morality of their cause is another matter.
What I do have a big problem with is when those British citizens then go on record promising to bomb polling stations, of "wreaking havoc" in the UK, of the black flag of Islam flying over London, 9/11-style attacks and a "killing spree" of British citizens.
It would be easy to mock and dismiss these comments if those British citizens weren't already armed and engaging in beheadings, mass murder of POWs and civilians and other atrocities in the name of their 'Caliphate' - a word which sends a clear message in itself. A group so dangerous and depraved that Al-Qaeda disowned them and suddenly Iraq, Iran, Syria, the Kurds and the West find themselves on the same side.
Fact is, ISIS/ISIL/IS will be spanked back to the stone ages eventually so perhaps we won't need to worry about our renegade Brits for too much longer. Even if the Iraqis fail, Iran and Syria won't allow them to gain too much power and territory, and neither will the West.

2. Different scenario. The IRA was/is a terrorist organisation, the other a state trying to protect its civilians and avoid killing innocent civilians posted into harms way deliberately by Hamas.

| They're both as bad as each other. And that's the problem.
Though there are peaceful, ordinary people on both sides stuck in the middle & Israel shouldn't receive as much support from other nations as it does.
As for the question about British people serving in the IDF, I'm not AS concerned about them as I am about those going to join ISIS/fight in Syria etc as the ones serving in the IDF are far, far less likely to come back to Britain and try to bomb people here.
I also believe there are plenty of British people going to Syria etc who have no intention of harming Britain or British people when they return. It's a very complicated situation. In a way a lot more complicated than the Israel/Palestine problem.

So basically an Israeli life is worth more than a Palestinian life then?
565 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli security forces since January 2009, while 28 Israeli civilians and 10 Israeli security personnel have been killed

Spot on.
I don't claim to know every aspect of the situation in detail, and I've somewhat lost track of matters in the last couple of years but I know the basics so to speak.
I lay blame at both the Israeli's and the Palestinian's door. Both are as pig-headed and warlike as each other it's just the Israeli's have higher capabailities than the Palestinian's. I lay slightly more blame at the Israeli's door mainly because of that higher capability and if these are legitimate terrorist targets they need to take them out with a minimum of civilian casualties, not just firing missiles or dropping bombs into civilian areas because they can. They (like Britain & US in Iraq & Afghanistan) need to maybe put more of their own troops in danger in order to minimise civilian casualties.
But I don't see it ever being resolved until the US steps in to bring the 2 together including putting pressure on Israel. But the way American politics (& politics in general) works I can't see that ever happening.

| Spectators have been flocking to watch battles for thousands of years. The Greeks and Romans wrote about them, there are numerous accounts from the American Civil War, and any number of accounts of people watching air battles and bombing during WW2 and cheering when the enemy was shot down.
I'm sure if missiles were being fired from Minehead to intercept incoming rockets from those pesky Welsh, you'd sit in your house in a self-righteous strop?

Whose gonna get a hard-on and want ring-side seats in such a one-sided bout though?
Having said that, if the Nazi's had installed viewing rooms whilst they had their lackeys throw Zyklon B into crowded gas chambers, killing women children, you'd have probably had plenty of takers.
The indomitable human spirit.

Easier said than done though. As already said on here, they aren't getting on a plane from Heathrow to Syria, and the same coming back. I obviously don't know the best ways into Syria or Iraq but I'd imagine the surrounding countries like Turkey are obvious places to try and get in from. But Turkey is also a popular holiday destination for Brits.

Lots opf things went on over the last 1000 years or more that are now considered to be at the very least, in very poor taste. Using history to justify a bunch of Zionist nutjobs taking pleasure in the killing and maiming of innocents is peverse.

How many Palestinians celebrated after 9/11? How many celebrated after the three Israeli teenagers were found murdered?
Not the brightest lot are they. Every time they launch a rocket into Israel they get it back 10x. You would think they would get the message by now of what happens when they launch rockets.
I would be on the hill with them. If my way of life was threatened being threatened by the terrorist scum I'd be on the hill with a bag of popcorn and 3d glasses.

And if you were born in Palestine?
Where would you be then? Would you simply allow the Israelis to enter your territory, to forcibly remove you from the home that you have lived in since birth, so that Zionist settlers could unlawfully set up home on what was previously your land?
Given your propensity to cowardice, I reckon you probably would just lay down and get dry bummed

Yes, standards have changed, but we're not talking about slavery or crucifixion or throwing people to the lions. We're talking about nothing more than a group of people watching a spectacular sight and supporting and clapping their own side. This faux outrage is rather pathetic. How very dare they.
You think Palestinians don't watch when a rocket is launched into Israel and you think none of them celebrate when an attack is successful? Would a picture of Palestinians watching rockets strike Israel be more acceptable? I suspect you'd probably approve of that.
I have no particular love for Israel and have enormous sympathy for the cause of the Palestinians. But when things deteriorate like this they're both as bad as one another and the truth is Israel will always hit back harder and more ruthlessly. Hamas and other groups know this and put their own people in mortal danger each time they poke the bear. Again, that doesn't make it right but as things are there will never be a resolution and this cycle will continue.
